Thank God this repaired my problem. After installing an app to analyze my hard drive storage my computer froze and then got stuck on choose your keyboard layout and disabled my usb ports. This got me back before the error occurred. All my data is still there. Thank you so much for posting this fix.
This fix worked great. Got a password error even though it was the correct one for my Microsoft account. This happened after several restarts. No other online video offered this option. Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for your help! I had no access to my USB keyboard when starting, and kept getting stuck on the "Choose your keyboard layout" message. After making a USB boot drive with Microsoft's "Media Creation Tool", I followed your instructions, found my PC data on drive E, and replaced the files with the ones on RegBack folder as per your instructions. It then took about an hour to rebuild. Then, it rebooted but the "Choose your keyboard layout" message came back. However, I unplugged the power cord for a few seconds, then rebooted again and it finally worked. I guess the old setings were still in memory and it just needed a cold boot. Very good, it saved me the agravation of having to buy a new system. Thanks.

Thank you very much! I had a BSOD on my five year old Lenovo Y70 which System Repair and System Restore both failed to correct. My next option was to install W10 on a USB to boot from, but then I found this video. Followed it through, and so far it's worked, getting me back to my desktop! I already had a backup of all my data files, but now I can do an image of my installation to make future recoveries even more secure. Thank you again for a deceptively easy recovery method.

The mere fact that you mentioned going back into BIOS and restoring defaults saved the day for me. I had it booting directly from the USB (for installation reasons) which caused an infinite loop. When I set it back to defaults, it booted from the hard drive itself. Thank you for saving my laptop!

My friend gave me some file and he said it will make your games optimized and low latency and i checked in edit all i see was registry files and then i tried and restart and it got corrupted..

This is glorious, been searching for "fix error on computer" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Ginro Computify Fixer - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.
Windows 10 IS better for gaming, professional use, etc. Because: •DirectX12 •Better Security updates •More simple than Windows 7 most of the time •Some programs or games don't run unless its Windows 10 The only reason I think you'd want to use Windows 7 is for *slightly* faster boot times. If you follow Barnacules Nerdgasm's Windows 10 "Spying" video then Windows 10 is DEFINITELY better than Windows 7.

Mine reboots even with the windows install thumb drive. As soon as it is done preparing files and shows the windows logo, it reboots. Same from off the main hard drive, when the windows logo hits, it reboots infinitely.

For the past 3 days, my windows 10 laptop has been having that annoying startup loop where it wouldn't boot to the password screen. Those five files that you are using to change over to at the 7:08 mark(RegBack folder) do not exist on my computer. It just says 0 File(s) 2 Dir(s) 57,514,343,560 bytes free Where do those files come from and how can I fix this?
This assumes the issue is a registry based issue. If it's another type of issue it won't help. Also, A lot of people are seeing no files in the backup folder so this might be out of date now, for some reason Windows is no longer automatically backing up those files.

Thanks for the help man, figured out all I needed to do was run this via D drive as you said and then after it failing auto start up repair, it continued to windows normally and everything is fine! So I am now doing a win 10 iso update to 'refresh' what ever has gone wrong, as right now I can only think of one thing that could cause my black screen of death and it seemed to be something to do with windows update and the latest 379.95 Nvidia Driver... Hopefully this win 10 update will fix things so I can do the nvidia update as it kept failing after finally being able to successfully log on, and I could only think of this as being my only solution. Thanks anyway man!
When I turn on my laptop there’s a message saying “Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.” When I press OK to restart the laptop would restart and then this same message would pop up

Hi, i do not have recovery CD therefore i used windows 10 bootable USB drive so "cd \windows\system32\config" did not work. my problem is BOOTMGR missing System restore files are originally on partition drive Attempt to repair, recover, or reinstall fail on advance troubleshoot the system was windows 7, later upgraded to windows 10 Any help?
What if the registry files are not right from the start of this will it work? I had a problem with trying to install my Asus motherboards Ai Suite II just to control fans and see temps. But every instal it would not start and it was hard to uninstall I kept going back in forth until I accidently installed everything and it messed it all up. I could not boot back to windows for a while. Then I found on youtube about rebuild the BCD and I finally was able to boot to windows. Even though I could boot to windows I was having problems launching programs and installing them to and it messed up my pictures on my usb drives that Microsoft photos could not open my pics or Adobe could not open documents . Even uninstalling photos from Windows I can not re-install it at all. So If this doesn't work I will have to do a fresh install of Windows . That won't be so bad because I don't have a whole bunch of programs on my computer .
Hi mate i have a new setup, and when I wanna install new windows 10 with Windows Media Creation tool to a new SSD, it is stuck in Preparing automatic repair and turned off without even getting into the troubleshoot option. It will restart and trapped in a loop. tried to tinker with the BIOS but nothing changed that. Do you have any suggestion?

RegBack folder's files is done by win 10 auto... or by you in case you meet trouble in the future???
