I was a Halsey fan before being a BTS fan. She’s a lot like Suga/Agust D in her music talks about mental health struggles, her substance abuse and social issues. It’s intensely personal while being universal in its reach. This collab was very unexpected but proved to be long-lasting in its aftermath. Halsey has done two collabs with Suga, one from her album Manic, Suga’s Interlude and another single, Lilith which was done for a game release.

In the song on the album Halsey does have more lines to sing. She also sung more on live performances together. For the MV and during the comeback they cut down her part down a bit. Was either her suggestion or a collective decision. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💙

It was the first time I had ever seen BTS perform. I knew of BTS at the time but had never heard a song from them or watched them perform. Lets just say Jimin turned around in that black and white suit with his pink hair and pink tinted sunglasses and then I was attacked 6 more times during that performance and I could not get the song out of my head. I just hadn't seen a performance like that where the audience was so excited and participating in singing along to the song in a long time, it really reignited my love for music. I went down the BTS rabbit hole immediately and I'm still ARMY 5 years later.

halseys verse was short but you hear her more in the background in the studio version. but they did this so that they could still perform their title track without her on the stage. they never ad a title track with a feat artist before it´s always been on the remixes. like butter remix with megan and On with Sia and this with halsey. and steve aiyogi also had a part in mic drop but he only did the remix of the music so no vocals or anything. but this Mv was actually THE title track so her voice will always be part of the main track witch is a first i believe. (coldplay song don´t count that was a single not a title track)

I'm a new subscriber and love your channel! You've got the charisma and love for BTS to make to 100,000 subs at least!! There is a behind the scenes video on TH-cam somewhere that's really interesting. From what I remember, Halsey was the first American artist to contact them for a collaboration. She flew to Korea during the quarantine to record this with them.

Boy with Luv, while an ARMY fan service track, in the video also was a component of BTS's Map of the Soul era in which many songs involved the psychology of Karl Jung. Jung proposes men and women have something called an animus and anima within their Psyche. These are emotional elements of the opposite gender role. Embracing the presence of both gender role aspects to Jung is part of the path to happiness, to completeness. BTS deliberately wears androgynous clothing and dances with Halsey who represents accepting their anima as part of being whole. So yes Halsey does not have verse feature here but is very much part of BTS's under-messaging. Incidentally Halsey is bisexual which fits this messaging hand in glove.
