  • This is the most amazing abandoned house I've personally explored! The journey in locating it deep in the woods was half the fun. This home has been empty since 1945.

I love doing research on stuff like this. So far here's what I found out. Ron Edwards is the grandson of Frank Edwards SR. The grandfather died on May 30, 2003. Given Ron's date on the wall was September of 2003 it may indicate that he grew up in the home. He wouldn't have built it as he was born Jan 30 of 1921. His father is a different story; William Edwards and his mother Eugenia Fowler Edwards. Reading the history for the area, the first settler arrived in 1800 and the land was mainly given as reward for being a soldier in the revolutionary war but some was also sold. The area was organized in 1811. This makes the home no earlier than 1811 in my opinion. As a side note Frank Edwards Jr. died August 3, 2015. If I find out more I'll post it but thought you'd be interested.

lissasun I'm pretty sure they said this house was in Ohio. If it is, then the info you gave does not match, because the family you mentioned didn't live in Ohio. See link. www.findagrave.com/memorial/106400694/frank-edwards

Well the whole history of the House should be at the County Court House or Local Library ,,, Tax Records , Deed and Title Transfers all Public record shouldn't be that hard unless a Fire burned down the places where all the records were kept which actually happened a lot more then one might think....

Love the video! I used to do exploration of old buildings and abandoned places near where I live in PA. I hope to get back into it! Sadly many places have been torn down or have fallen down. Such a shame to see old buildings in such decay, and the vandalism too. I miss exploring, but your video makes me feel like I was there! Great work and keep them coming!!

That is awesome! I hope you are able to buy it and restore it. I know you don't want to take things but in this case, that beautiful woodwork should not be allowed to just decay. It should be restored to it's original beauty. Once it is gone, it's gone forever. Maybe if all else fails, you should rescue it. I was raised in an 1860s' house. My brother bought the farm and after several years was forced to tear down the old house but he rescued the beautiful old woodwork first and made the rest of us kids a beautiful plaque with some of the wood. They just don't build houses like that anymore. Thanks so much for sharing and thanks for keeping the language clean.

There was very minimal damage to the house it self from vandalism. The windows and doors were removed and taken out of there many years ago. You may be able to work out an agreement with the current owner. I admire the courage it takes to enter into the unknown where anything is possible. Very wise indeed to not do it alone. Be careful and thank you for documenting this, a few hundred years from now there will only be sandstone blocks in the woods.

The house is in great shape considering it's been abandoned 70yrs! Wow, what a beautifully built home. It makes me sad that such a great structure was left to withstand history in solitude and neglect. The 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 2010s, a whole lifetime and all the while it was a home to nobody. That's sadly amazing.

Cool house! I bet if you dig in the cellar you will find lots of goodies. A friend's mom had a house that was built in 1800s with a portion of the cellar with a dirt floor. I don't know how we got started on it but we dug up part of that dirt floor and found all kinds of old bottles, tins, bones (from food - nothing creepy [darn]), bits of half rotted but very old papers/books, and the like. Found out from another friend's parent that people used to throw away their garbage in those dirt cellars, especially in the winters when they didn't want to go to the outside garbage heap. They just dug holes in the dirt floor and buried their trash. It turned out to be a treasure trove.

That house is well built and built with care. I believe, if enough work was put into it it would be livable again. the woodwork is wonderful. The designs above the windows on the outside showed just how much care was put into building it. Its in pretty good shape for sitting for all those years. 1945.... long time!

the house is from the early 1910's . I attended a church whose building was of the same era with similar features to the walls and wood work

Ron Edwards was the guy who visited in 2003, I believe (I'm no expert). Frank Edwards Sr. was the guy who they were mentioning with all the R.I.P. messages, so HE was the one who passed away, not Ron

So much on this house is salvageable. The door and window frames, the brick and stone. Even the siding and the interior framing. Yes, I saw the ghost in the doorway at the end. It looks like a knock-kneed girl with a short skirt, so couldn't be as old as the house.

Im guessing Amish lived here and Amish still probably own it.
Amish are not flashy and have very bland, unassuming homes. They keep them tidy with little material items, especially back in the day. That is probably why there is little trash and junk laying around in and around the house.

my best find so far is a 1884 crown top pint beer bottle, it was a prototype because they were not made untill the patent in the early 1900s, the bottling company didnt produce untill 1887, funny ha!!! it is hand blown with a lot of flaws but the bottle is in perfect condition!!! can u say extremely rare with probably under two hundred cases made!!!

Gosh I love that door. That house could be restored . most of the wood is in great shape. But that foundation... Kept that house standing straight up. If nothing more, someone should clean it up and make a fort for grown ups .

Good video. I would think that Sept 1945 was shortly after WWII ended. So maybe they were ready to start over in a place not as remote. Craftsmanship was amazing.

Looks like it was architecturally stripped in the early 2000s for its antique fittings.
The carved door frames could not have been taken as the top sections are acting as lentils, supporting upper floors.

I'm a new subscriber of yours after seeing your Nova House video. I'm hooked! I love the way you present your explorations and how you describe what's in and around the houses. In fact I backed up the video a few times when you said to look at the big rock beside the road. 😀
When you said your friend's name and that he's a TH-camr, I didn't catch his name. Would you mind letting me know?
