Cruising Across Florida on a Hatteras Motor Yacht- Part 2- Stuart to Clewiston

  • In part 2 of cruising a 64' Hatteras Motoryacht from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa Bay, we deal with some nasty weather transiting from Stuart, Florida to Clewiston, which is on the western edge of Lake Okeechobee. We see some interesting sights, including an army of Fleming Yachts, as we cruise the ditch heading west toward the Gulf of Mexico. I was also pleasantly surprised with a celebrity DeFever Trawler sighting! We transit three locks on this leg of the journey, in which one of them we barely fit in while dealing with 25 knot gusty winds. Ending the day, we dock at the charming old Florida Roland Martin Marina for the night, which I highly recommend you stopping at if you are ever transiting the Okeechobee Waterway.

    Thanks for the great content. Remember, when inside, bright backgrounds breed dark foregrounds. Thanks again.

    Great video ! I changed my old AC s on my 1999 DeFever 44 after watching your video. Could not be happier with the new units. Living aboard for 6 years now and life is great.

    That looked like a lot of fun capt., thanks! I enjoyed the trip across Florida, it felt like I was right there with you guys. Those locks looked like they could be challenging even without the wind.

    Hey y'all! Watched that 64' Hatteras Motoryacht video cruisin' from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa Bay. Crazy weather, tight locks, and 25 knot winds - y'all handled it like champs! That DeFever Trawler spotting was somethin' else! Roland Martin Marina's a sweet spot to dock. Keep up the good work, and happy cruisin'! 🌊🚤🐊

    Great video im about to buy a used boat and thinking of a trawler basic displacement or semi but slower is ok for us as we want to live aboard.

    Very cool and informative! I've been that route many years ago. I know crossing Lake Okeechobee can be challenging and dangerous with only an average of 9 feet under your keel.

    If I'm correct the Clewiston lock is not part of the Okechobee waterway. It's a side detour into Clewiston? I couldn't see how the lock could be so small. As part of the waterway, anyway. You didn't cover that much in the video.

    • @AquaCultured
      @AquaCultured  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct, Clewiston is an offshoot detour from the waterway, good catch on that. There is so much more that I could have and should have included in the series
