I was curious if you had just 2 three string guitars, what tunings would you keep them in? I'm guessing one would be GDG? What other tuning would compliment that one to get the best variety range across the fretboard? Thank you very much for the quality content you're putting out here on TH-cam, I'm highly impressed...

Hi if you want to keep both in the same relative tuning so that all the chord shapes and riffs are the same, then maybe EBE alongside GDG? It's quite close to regular 6 string tuning so you'll able to play quite a few songs in their original keys (same chords and notes in riffs etc). You might be able to find a good string gauge which allows you to switch between EBE + DAD too

If you don't mind me asking, are there certain string gauges that you think would work well with that tuning specifically, and also which gauges would work for going back and forth between the two tunings? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated... 🙏

@@fathertime209 You could try using strings from an 11-48 or 49 set (6 strings). You might need to experiment - keep measuring the action to see if the neck is being bent much by the increased tension in EBE tuning. Also check if you're happy with the tone - lack of fret buzz - in different tunings. You can also by strings for 3 string CBG from chickenbone John in the UK + CB gitty in the US - check the string gauges against those in a standard 6 string set to see if these will work for you
