If you guys still facing this issue, simply just go to settings > wifi > search for the name of the printer > connect to the printer

We have two iPads and two iPhone 12s. We have a brother printer. All four would print to the printer. After an iOS update my phone now won’t. My wife’s iPhone 12 also has the new iOS but prints. Mine says ‘no printer selected’. If I click on the message it lists the brother printer but it has a revolving circle to the right of it. If I click on the brother printer the previous screen reappears with the brother as the selected printer plus the spinning icon. After a second the printer disappears and ‘no printer selected’ replaces it. I’ve tried all your suggestions and more…..
Got the same issue, after an update of iphone 12 not its not working
I’ve solved it for me! I have VPN working on my iPhone (Norton). My wife doesn’t have it on hers. Hers prints, mine used to but not anymore. I turned off VPN and it now finds and assigns the printer. This is clearly a failure of my VPN and have similar problems with my windows pc and the printer that led me to trying this. VPN should not intervene on intranet connections (ie my home network). But it clearly does.

Any solution for the printer being detected from the Mac, but not from the iPhone? Trying to print to a non-AirPrint printer, connected via USB to an AirPort Express router. And again, works perfectly on the Mac, doesn't work on the iPhone. Any idea why?
This has worked for me plenty of times… But now I have a problem when I’m trying to print, I get the “contacting printer” but it won’t print… I’ve tried all the basics ie turning my phone off, rebooting my phone, switching my printer off etc, but still nothing
Make sure you turn off VPN, then toggle airplane mode on and off.

Thanks for very clear steps to fix this issue, but I have tried all options you presented using my IPhone 14 Pro MAX and none of these work. I have a Canon MF232 ImageClass Series laser printer. I am convinced this is an Apple bug that needs to be fixed. None of this was a problem with any of our Apple devices until iOS 17 came out. The printer works fine when connected to my PC through the WiFi network using my eero Pro mesh router, but we miss being able to print photos or recipes directly from the iPad or iPhone. You mentioned to contact printer mfg. I looked into the firmware update for this model, and FAQ states the latest Windows version they support is 7. I have 11. I tried to download firmware EXE file anyway. It would not launch. This printer has a 2.4GHZ radio in it, not 5.0GHZ. Do you think iPhone 14 and iOS simply cannot talk to each other. Would buying a 5GHZ radio equipped printer solve this issue?
Apple just tends to ruin everything... This "AirPrint" thing is by far the worst feature added to IOS! You are forced to buy a printer that has airprint compability just to print without using any third party apps...

Epson XP-2205 which I’ve just bought from Argos for £45 doesn’t support AirPrint but my old second hand one XP-330 did? Is it because Apple haven’t added these certain models to there list or something as there on the same network? It’s almost like having those damn drivers to install all over again back in the day but should be all on your phone not thinking to having to deal with that. Yes you can use the Epson app and that works well but printing emails from my iPhone not a chance.
My iPhone 14 finds the printer, but then doesn’t connect. The phone and printer are in the same network.

My HP printer prints from an Ipad and my HP laptop. My wife''s new iphone does not find printer. Tried everything ,even my network connected the 5g on same network. reboot printer, reboot phone. brand new phone. updates completed. no luck.

There is no fix for this... YOU HAVE TO BUY AN "AIRPRINT" COMPATIBLE PRINTER otherwise you wont print at all. This Airprint feature is really bad.

How do you connect your printer to your network fi it doesn’t have the option I’m using a hp deskjet 2332 and it doesn’t have that option please help
try using the HP Smart app, it should help connect your printer to Wi-Fi network
