Wow that is so good just a thought for future Kevin maybe use the glycol under floor system to thaw out the dock to get it out of the pond otherwise always love your videos, being you still have a couple of hundred feet of that piping
An old box liner from a truck would work well for the sled you're looking for and you can get them for next to nothing. We took one, cut it out between the wheel wells and used a couple pieces of wood to firm up the front and give it an attachment point. We use it as a moose sled. If you can haul a moose out on one, you can definitely haul a log that doesn't have antlers
I was thinking you could attach the winch cable to a pulley that is attached to the U shaped bar high up on the tractor so you could winch the log end up off the ground then pull it. Also, old plastic sled or wrap the log end in some big trash bags so it slides on the snow better.
Hi Kevin I am new to your channel about two weeks now my husband watches your bothers channel and that’s how I found you and I have been binge watching your videos my son passed away 1 yr ago this December and your videos have helped me through a really tough time by keeping me entertained we are getting ready to move off grid do you have given me some great insight on some things to do thank you
Got an old toboggan? Nail it, upseide down to the top of the log and roll the log over. It should minimise the digging in if you cant haul it from a higher attachment point.
Chain tractor to tree, wench to log, use wench. Easy! Also pretty sure they make 25 lb. suitcase weights for your tractor. Those would help a bit with all the random projects you've been doing. Great content and looking forward to future shenanigans.
I have a couple light bulb bins. The led have little computer chips and I don't trust them. They'll stop working in certain fixtures for no good reason but older bulbs will work. I got a whole box full of curly bulbs that were left behind after an auction. I've skidded a lot of logs with my atv over the years. The logs will dig into the dirt or they might have something like a branch that you can't see holding them back. Sometimes it helps to angle the edges like you did. Once I get them moving, I speed up and use momentum to get them up hills. Sometimes they are just too big. Shark bites.... It seems like every time we get a new water heater it's a different height and it's hard to find the correct length pipe connection things. So I just make them out of pipes and shark bites. Merry Christmas.
Hey Kevin, I've got you subbed and belled, and yet i don't recall seeing those chistmas gift videos in the past. And I do like DIY videos, so I would not just ignore them. It may be the algorithm that sabotages those videos. In any case, keep up the good work and Happy New Year.
Merry Christmas thank you for another year of creations that should inspire others I love to watch how you take good nuggects that can be used inventing a new purpose.I cant wait too see 2025 brings us
Great video Kevin, next time, when you try to slide a log you need to have the chain attached on the tracktor higher than the trunk so as you pull, it pulls the log up and away, not down into the ground.
Awesome job with the cutting board, really beautiful! You should get a log cone to pull those logs out, it'd be easier on your equipment. Love what you're doing 😊
I always enjoy whatever you do on your channel Kevin. That mixture that you bought from Cabela’s I would put it in a glass mason jar with an oxygen absorber that way it keeps the moisture out of your jar with a tight lid. take care until next Saturday. Thanks, Kevin.
I store dry goods in jars on shelves over my sink in my trailer. I only kept 3 cupboards that any mice can't get into. I store my dishes and extra food inside ziplock bags in the cupboards. No mice , no condensation. I probably have enough food there that I could live a week or 2 on. I also store clothes and bedding inside contractor garbage bags to prevent mould from the condensation
I put things in safe spots all the time. They usually end up being safe from me ever finding them again. 😂 And I love the A frame - it has weathered nicely, and looks really good with the snow trim.
Hi Kevin, I was thinking, you could have had Grant walk along beside the log with a flat shovel and clear away the debris that piled up while you were moving the log. Just an idea..it’s big, it’s round, it’s wood 🪵 log.. can’t wait to see the milling process. Happy new year.
Great Video Kevin and all, Happy Christmas and new year, i love your videos, you are such a skillfull person, and your mannerisms are brilliant. Alwasy have a odds and sods draw, you can fix or make anything.
Or you could use metal garbage cans…just stack suff in them…or anything made out of tin. Try a princess auto store or something similar as they always have different containers.
Great video Kevin! Maybe getting or making one of those plastic cone log skidders would help you out as they keep the wood from digging in. I’ve seen a few people use them and they all found them to be great. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Kevin, I am sure you could engineer/MacGyver something reusable to nail to the end of a log to act like the front end of a sled. I have faith in you!! Maybe at the least, have the chain pulling from the bottom of the log, kinda lifting as it pulls instead of digging in.
Should check out the stainless kitchen drawers at vevor i build a whole kitchen with it because i live on a old house boat so the rodents cant get in and eat my stuff
Great analysis, thank you! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
The beginning of this video looked like a raccoon making his case for asking to marry another raccoons daughter “Does anyone else have a lightbulb bin? I have several”
Just wondering….. did you ever think of running your floor heating system through your indoor stove…..no heat loss through transfer, less pipe one less fire to tend. Everyone got their own style and is cool what you did, I think I would have gone a different route. Show is great, I considered a cabin at one time in my life, I bought a couple of apartment buildings in Mexico by the beach instead.
19:58 I'm a little confused. You have a small mountain's worth of parts and materials, but you haven't devised something to help you move logs? The reason you can't move the log is because the front of the log is digging into the ground as you pull it along. So, not only are you fighting against the weight of the log, but you're also fighting against the friction of the earth. What you need is a tool that you can attach to the log with skinny, but sturdy little wheels (metal with small spikes?) on either side of the log. Build a manual pump pneumatic system to lower and raise the carriage. So to get the log, lower the carriage, drag the log onto the carriage, then pump it back up to raise the log 4-6" off the ground. You'll want two long (36-48"'), flat pieces of steel that run parallel to the log on the underside at about 15° off of the bottom of the log (If straight down from the center of the log to bottom is -90°, you'll want these flat pieces at -75° and -105°). This will help keep the log from rotating, and so long as the center of the wheels is no more than 1' from the edge of the log, you should have no issues hauling any log anywhere. Secure a couple chains or straps around the log and flat pieces of steel to hold the log in the carriage, another one at the front of the log, then wrap the chain to your tractor around the log just behind the center of the wheels. And if you can invert the wheels slightly so they're farther apart from each other at the top and closer at the bottom, turning corners won't be as bad.
Food storage for off-grid living: Canning is your friend. For wet goods or good that need to stay absolutely dry (like flour or sugar), mason jars. For things like veggies, find a tin-canner. Things like nuts can also go into those. For raw plants (potatos, onions, herbs, etc) then burlap sacks in cool, dry dirt cellars. For dry goods like cereals or noodles, just keep them into a cardboard box. Just don't store them in a wet place. Also, military C-bags for large storage or some military waterproof bags could work too. You could probably find those at a surplus store pretty cheaply.
Punch tin cupboard. The mice can't get it I think they where also called pie cupboards. It a sheet of tin with a fancy Design punched into the tin. They are free standing usually about 24" legs. Some have a drawer in the bottom but they are 100% mouse proof.
Injoyed the video Kevin! You have a really cool workshop man! You have accumulated a ton of stuff, but can you ever have enough, don't think so! You brain storm and think out of the box really good man, your ideas are really good! Man, that's some huge log Kevin! You definitely were giving it man on that log! The Name plate you used the Laser on was very cool and looked good! Good job man that was some work getting those logs! The woodwork you did was really cool! Hope you and your family had a great Christmas! Have a safe and great New Year! Looking forward to your next one!
Thanks for not feeding the fish! I leave my "bubbler" (aerator) running all year. I also have a waterfall that helps with oxygenating the water. You are on the right track with food storage. Mason jars with metal lids work. Also ceramic jars with locking ceramic lids are rodent proof. There are locking metal containers designed for large food storage. The ammunition box would be good if the food is wrapped. They are not designed with food in mind and could leach toxins if in direct contact with food.
I think you got the hot water heater too far from the building. If you move it closer to where you don't have so much pipeline, insulate all your pipeline, and then you might get a better heating ability out of your pipeline. Just don't get it within 4 or 5B, but 10 or 12 foot. That's too far. I may be maybe 2 feet or 3 feet I wouldn't make it too farther away from your building, but just keep it far.Enough to keep from burning your building down
I use a much smaller tractor to move logs that big without a problem, you're just kind of doing it wrong. I have old b7100 and have a trailer hitch attachment attached to the rear three-point, and then you can wrap a chain around the end of the log and attach it to the top of the three-point assembly and use that to lift the log up a couple of inches and then it drags perfectly fine
😂 I loved watching you try to get the tree on the trailer or log and you kept pushing the trailer all over the field trying to get it on every time you would push the log the trailer would move so you like chasing the log and the trailer all over the field so funny 🤣 it's going to make a lot of beautiful lumber 🪵🪚 😁👍 I hope you get to use the rest of the tree that's out there as well at some point because that is a gorgeous tree and you shouldn't let it go to waste it's too pretty to not use even though it's heavy I would go with that sort of sled option try to see if there's some way to roll it on to something and then you can sort of strap it to it and sort of drag it over over the ground that would really help even during the summer or the winter it's just going to be a lot easier to pull something that big by using some sort of a sled or a flat surface then trying to pull a tree 🌲 obviously the smooth surface will slide over the ground it's a great idea 💡 thank you for the fun videos and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year 🥳 and the Christmas gifts you made out of wood there amazing the charcuterie board is gorgeous and I love the coaster with your logo that came out awesome😊
Outstanding, Kevin! Here’s to another year of hare-brained ideas and community spirit. Happy New Year from all of us at Possum Lodge!!
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too.
This video has showed me how amazing all his builds are and how when you see them in shots together how his little town is forming into a masterpiece
It's fun spending time with Kevin on his projects. Here I am in South Bend... the home of the Studebaker.
Wow that is so good just a thought for future Kevin maybe use the glycol under floor system to thaw out the dock to get it out of the pond otherwise always love your videos, being you still have a couple of hundred feet of that piping

Happy new year!
Good video.
Good job, and it is nice seeing you have someone to work with!!!😊🎉❤
I was thinking you could attach the winch cable to a pulley that is attached to the U shaped bar high up on the tractor so you could winch the log end up off the ground then pull it. Also, old plastic sled or wrap the log end in some big trash bags so it slides on the snow better.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope our videos can continue to provide some joy during a difficult time.
Happy New Year !!🥳🎉
Happy New Year to you too!
A slide or pan under the front part of the log would get it to slide and not dig into the snow so much. The Ashe is a wonderful wood to work.
Saturday morning, coffee and Kevin builds another great video! Merry Christmas Kevin to you and your family and we'll see you next year
Outstanding and awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
Snow would be fun for about one day I reckon.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year
Nice thanks for sharing
Got an old toboggan? Nail it, upseide down to the top of the log and roll the log over. It should minimise the digging in if you cant haul it from a higher attachment point.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for all you do, you are an inspiration!
Chain tractor to tree, wench to log, use wench. Easy! Also pretty sure they make 25 lb. suitcase weights for your tractor. Those would help a bit with all the random projects you've been doing. Great content and looking forward to future shenanigans.
Fun times again, you are a dynamo, I wish I had as much ability as you. Please, keep at it, we all love your vids.

Yeah It's probably the case. You can go back and look for them if you'd like... I made a clock, charcuterie board, magnetic knife holder
Nice!
Merry Christmas thank you for another year of creations that should inspire others I love to watch how you take good nuggects that can be used inventing a new purpose.I cant wait too see 2025 brings us
Respect to you as always, Kevin!
Great video Kevin, next time, when you try to slide a log you need to have the chain attached on the tracktor higher than the trunk so as you pull, it pulls the log up and away, not down into the ground.
Keep up the good work Kev! Winter is always a tough haul.
1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass trunk lid made an excellent sled behind a three wheeler, Owner Cutlass wasn’t impressed much when he found out.
Awesome job with the cutting board, really beautiful! You should get a log cone to pull those logs out, it'd be easier on your equipment. Love what you're doing 😊
I would've cut the logs a bit long and beveled the pull end.
I always enjoy whatever you do on your channel Kevin. That mixture that you bought from Cabela’s I would put it in a glass mason jar with an oxygen absorber that way it keeps the moisture out of your jar with a tight lid. take care until next Saturday. Thanks, Kevin.

Could you pull it with the forks rig up something to hold it then you would have lift and back it out maby next time great video Kevin

And I love the A frame - it has weathered nicely, and looks really good with the snow trim.
😁☺️👏you are always up to something😁 Saturday night and I’m going through Kevin’s chrome drawer with him!🤣
WOW Kevin you kept saying Winter was a coming, it sure came in your neck of the woods ,Crikey 😊
But if the cable snaps, Grant gets cut in half.
Great Video Kevin and all, Happy Christmas and new year, i love your videos, you are such a skillfull person, and your mannerisms are brilliant. Alwasy have a odds and sods draw, you can fix or make anything.
"We need bigger equipment..." That's what she said ...
Or you could use metal garbage cans…just stack suff in them…or anything made out of tin. Try a princess auto store or something similar as they always have different containers.
always leave them wanting more! i want to see the big log on the mill!!!!
Great video Kevin! Maybe getting or making one of those plastic cone log skidders would help you out as they keep the wood from digging in. I’ve seen a few people use them and they all found them to be great. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Yes I couldn't think of the name that would work fabulously
Kevin, I am sure you could engineer/MacGyver something reusable to nail to the end of a log to act like the front end of a sled. I have faith in you!! Maybe at the least, have the chain pulling from the bottom of the log, kinda lifting as it pulls instead of digging in.
Have you tried using the bucket to lift the front of the log and pull it backwards
I have glass jar for all
I wonder if a long metal sled, slipped under the wood and attached to your tractor would help?
Should check out the stainless kitchen drawers at vevor i build a whole kitchen with it because i live on a old house boat so the rodents cant get in and eat my stuff
Hook the chain as short as possible to the tractor so it lifts the end of the log up/
We have and old metal cabinet that is completely sealed
goodness lift the log higher where its attached to your tractor n u wont have that problem
0:32 not gonna lie, the mannequin upstairs really caught me off guard! Also though... Why does Kevin have a mannequin upstairs?! 🤣😂
I uaw coolers in my pantry for dry goods.also 1 gal glass jars 4 for 17 from Amish.
should have cut a wedge in the front of the log make it a sled
a bit of sheet iron or tin under the front of the log bent at 145ish jupwards will let you drag over uneven ground alot easier with big weight
From Michigan, did you know s'mores originated in Michigan...
(0:31) and (0:45)Was that a ghost just over Kevin's head😬🤯😨😱👻👀⁉⁉⁉⁉⁉⁉
Use a steel drain pipe ? Cut in half with a rubber mat for the belly of the pipe 😅 tow hole for the chain hook up
Great analysis, thank you! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
👍👍
Metal file cabinets with the bottom sealed with metal makes a great storage for food. Metal trash cans work also but no challenge in them
I can just see Kevin putting siding or something on it to make it pretty and practical.😊
@KatherineWilliams-y4z I can most definitely see Kevin doing that. He is quite genius the way he thinks
The beginning of this video looked like a raccoon making his case for asking to marry another raccoons daughter
“Does anyone else have a lightbulb bin? I have several”
Just wondering….. did you ever think of running your floor heating system through your indoor stove…..no heat loss through transfer, less pipe one less fire to tend.

Show is great, I considered a cabin at one time in my life, I bought a couple of apartment buildings in Mexico by the beach instead.
Beautiful charcuterie board. Good job on that monster log... looking forward to seeing you mill those.
Just noticed the episode numbers.. you getting this set up for tv airing? 😄
A metal popcorn tin21:24
those are beautiful logs great job happy holidays

Kevin has made a thing that helps with log transport, but it's on wheels. It's not adapted for snow.
Punch tin cupboard. The mice can't get it I think they where also called pie cupboards. It a sheet of tin with a fancy Design punched into the tin. They are free standing usually about 24" legs. Some have a drawer in the bottom but they are 100% mouse proof.
how come you get snow while here in stockholm we have 8c?

9:10 the Wooded Beardsman??? Haven't seen his channel LOL
Lol, winch will work, so will a bigger tractor.
Keep it coming Kev.
Hello from Maine
Full stop 🛑
FUN in the winter woods!
FUN ???? totally idiot if live area were have snow and ice, ice need only fridge and freeze not outside ewer.
Why don't you make cribbage boards out of oak for Christmas and New Years gifts.
how deep is your pond
I’m not a smart man Jenny, but wouldn’t it be more betterer to make the floor heat work off the wood stove inside? One fire vs two.
Just out of curiosity why do you use Mikita instead of DeWalt, or Milwaukee? Are they a sponsor?
Personal preference.
It might be time for a bigger tractor.
Fridge is not a bulletproof storage. I literally had mice completely through the seal of the door and get in my fridge.
Why didnt you put a sled under the front of the log!?
The log would slide easier if you beveled the leading end so it doesn't dig in.
Would love a price on the board you were working on at the end. Also shipping to Utah. Looks absolutely amazing.
Send me a message on Instagram and I can look up shipping cost to Utah. Woodchucker_987
These bots man 😂
Why dont you build one of them trailer things that picks the log up with that big hook and two wheels
I think you got the hot water heater too far from the building. Why didn't you clear a path and then put little logs under it to help move it along
I don't stop talking EVER lol but that's what makes your video good
It's been one week and a new video as not been released 🤔🤔🤔
It's good to take some time for yourself every once in awhile.
@ModernSelfReliance take all the time you need 😁
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can
You dont have an inventory problem you have s procurement problem.
Always in my safe spot… BUT surprise it isn’t in my safe spot.. lol
