- Well, Happy New Year everybody as we are starting 2022 off with a bang...
Justin and I on this musical path have experienced both the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to the three albums I've tackled "Purpose", "Changes", and the newest release "Justice". If one thing was constant was to review this album "Journals" since it is right up my alley.
So let see what I may be missing out on in hopes to meet him in the middle on my thoughts about his music.

Sometimes I still can’t believe he was just 19 when he wrote this album with 2-3 other musicians. His label and management didn’t want him to do Rnb so they didn’t support him during this process. He was in a very bad place, heartbroken, overworked, taking drugs and hated by the whole world. But with this album he truly created a masterpiece. This is real, raw, comes from his heart.. i just love this album so freaking much. Still my favorite after 8 years
I don't know, i think Justin has been doing rnb Simce the first day, if u only check out the first album til the newest you can clearly see rnb songs, My world: one time, one less lonely girl, first dance, baby, U smile, never let you go and more...

Journals is Justin’s most underrated album alongside Believe. These two albums deserve so much better.
Believe? Believe was definitely a movement when it was released and it’s his 2nd highest selling album. Idk maybe you forgot how huge believe was during that time, honestly no album compare to Journals are for as the time the albums was released. By I see where you coming from
believe is a hit back then its not underrated tho
Glad you noticed his voice changed, he actually sung some of the songs from this album on a tik tok livestream and his voice sounds amazing with these songs
What makes this album so much better than the rest of his discography is that it is honest. It's easy to forget how much he was going through so much during this time, but he was like the world's punching bag. His label didn't support him on this record, he knew it wouldn't be a smash hit, but he made it anyway because it was his honest artistic expression. I would give anything for him to re-record it and release it again for its 10 year anniversary next year. Here's to hoping.

Bad Day is easily JBs most underrated song and actually my FAVORITE song he has ever recorded.

I love this album so much and I think this is his best work to show people that doesn't really know him, I mean, it's easier to know him by what's on the radio, and this kind of music wasn't "radio hits". This is what he really wanted to do at that very time, without label's ideas (or even support). Years after the release, in 2020, he sung Journals live on TikTok, and damn, his voice is really better and that would be amazing if he could re-record some of these songs. Oh, he also sung PYD live and only because of his beautiful voice I couldn't hate on the song. Lol. That was the first time we ever saw him singing some of those songs live, so that was really nostalgic for us that have been here supporting him for more than a decade now. I really liked your react and thank you for being honest about what you liked and what you didn't. Great video.
This album actually has a bonus track called Flatline and it goes stupid hard. One of the best on the project imo
memphis is a grower its definitely one of my favorites now and it was in my bottom 3 when i first listened. swap it out and one life have always been the best

This Album is a Masterpiece.. Pure Gold
One life was my alarm for like all of high school, such an amazing song. This whole album is no skips for me. This album is 100% about toxicity in his life. he wanted love. He wasnt perfect. And neither was his significant other. Heartbreaker, all bad, bad day, whats hatnin, flatline. And every lyric really had that deep meaning. Flip flopping from a passionate side to a dark side. Also, he is in love now fully in a healthy committed relationship. He not making songs about toxic relationships no more. But he still got rnb songs out there and its his favorite genre of song.
I don’t listen to Justin at alllll but I love this album! I can’t even remember how/why I listened to this in the first place.
I liked this reaction so much. Don't know if you've been able to watch his tiktok performance, that was the first time he ever performanced a lot of those songs, almost 10 years after its release. I love this album so much, just by its title we can see how honest it is, this album is Justin's journey (at that very moment).
To release this album he made a project called Music Mondays, which he would release one song per week till complete the album's playlist. I remember I was at school at that time so I hated mondays lol but I'd be so excited for the next monday because Justin would release another new song.
So it was really amazing to finally see him singing songs that made part of my life for such a long period. It was almost like being taken back to 2013, but we're at different mental places now, which is amazing. And the change in his voice made me feel like even PYD sounded amazing live lol.
The only part that makes me sad is that one of my favorite songs is a bonus one called Flatline and as a bonus it isn't available when people listen to the original album. Right now you can find it on streaming services, but I don't know why the song sometimes disappears. And Justin only sang this song like twice; on his Believe movie and on a Instagram livestream. My dream is for him to sing it again even if it's only once, but we've been contemplated with his current performances of Swap It Out so I kinda forgive him lol

Changes is so over hated… it’s actually a really decent album especially if you like songs to just chill and vibe to. Also his best vocally. Love that album.

Journals was Justins best in every way. He says Happy Birthday because that's a Poo Bear song. That's his logo. The whole album is a masterpiece but Hold Tight and One Life is my favorite. If you hear the lyrics in hold tight its about him being so obsessed with her p---y lips. Just wanted to let who ever didnt know. His vocals are out of this world. Purpose album was my second favorite. Journals had way more soul though. Belieber for life. Thank you for a great reaction of my favorite singer now and all time. You really understand and appreciate Justin's singing talent.

One thing a lot people don't know is that Drake wrote the song "One Life" and is probably the best song on this album, also Drake was expected to be featured on "Confident" instead Chance but something went wrong, still a classic though

Take a look at Lucas Inutilismo last video. This brazilian guy plays all the best songs of the year in a song. It is really good. There are some brazilians songs in it, but most part is songs in english.
One life is my favorite. Ik a lot of ppl aren’t huge fans of it but I love it. He’s only performed most of these songs once besides the first 3. There’s still some he’s never performed. He did perform one life and u can find it on TH-cam and I think the live version is even better.

Changes was most definitely dog shit and I really like JB lol. There were some songs that were decent, and of course his voice is always great. But anyways, Purpose was an absolute masterpiece through and through. Finally, Journals will always be nostalgic to me and loved because his whole Bizzle era was crazy, I love rnb justin, his voice is so damn good.
100% about Ms. Selena Gomez. I'm actually just becoming fans of Bieber and Gomez. Kinda went down the rabbit hole about the 2 of them so yeah lol

So coming back to this justin didn’t actually write a single song on this album. The songs were given to him by his friend and producer poobear and then Justin just recorded them and picked the ones he liked. So everybody tired so hard to connect it to Selena but the songs arent about her they’re about poobears significant other. I definitely think maybe poobear and Justin worked together to rewrite some lines etc but yeah these aren’t songs created by Justin they’re just songs he recorded bc originally poobear recorded them. This is also a similar situation with the changes album. The only songs I think that just actually did a significant amount of work on are believe and purpose and maybe justice. Justin can write but tbh he’s not a huge writer. He gets a lot of songs given to him. Like he didn’t write ghost and anyone was given to him by Camilla cabello. But it’s fine if he’s not a huge writer bc he didn’t get into this industry to be a writer he was 13 yk. He got into the. Business bc of his voice. He can sing play instruments, dance, and play sports… he’s extremely talented but I don’t think writing was ever really his thing. He does co write a lot tho. He mostly wrote in the believe- journals era but it was mostly raps or piano ballads. He’s good at coming up w things really quickly. I think he has a lot of really good unreleased songs.
