  • I was out of work...the period between Christmas and February is often a thin one for video freelancers. I was living over near Oxford - just a few miles from Otmoor, the site of a largeish starling roost. Filming them is hard because they create their sky patterns just as the light is fading - and youneed the camea to be sucking as much light in as possible - but you also need pin sharp images... depth of field is always a problem under such cicumstances... but on this occasion that helped to offer dhe shots. .. but it had been cold, very cold, minus 5 most days, there was a high in place so sunny evenings. Much of the water was frozen and covered in a thin covering of snow - so light was coming at the birds from below. However, tracking them is hard as you have to guess which way they are g to go next. The sachler head on th camerta helps - and a zoom on the camera handle. This sequence was filmed over five nights - the roost is a two mile tripod lugging trudge from the car park - the slippery journey back is in the dark. Bloomin pleased to get into the Polo and get the heater on.
The first version of this film has had six million hits - all the revenue from this yutube film was donated to the London Symphony Orchestra.
Goodonem - they do excellent work

Nature can be truly wonderful. To watch them dive into their roost makes you assume it's all over, yet there are still more! The music provides a lovely fit, well done and thanks.

Absolutely amazing how you managed to create such a detailed video using Stop-Motion techniques, Must have taken you weeks, perhaps that is why you haven't been on for such a long time?. Well done LOL
