Neil Young is a living legend. His repertoire of songs is massive. He can go hard as well as soft. Good observation, you're right about the broom sweeping to the rhythm of the song! If you like the mouth harp he has a ton of songs with harmonica.
I've played this a lot in recent years ... beautiful. The world needs more of this kind of music. We'd all be better for it if our minds and hearts were immersed in this kind of peace.
In his Live Concert video "Heart of Gold" an all acoustic performance recorded at The Grand 'ol Opry , part of the arrangement for "Harvest Moon" is someone manning a broom & sweeping in time to the song . 🙂
Neil is one of the all time greats I love all his music. I'd like you to check out some more Springsteen too. You can't lose with any song from Born To Run 👍
I grew up on a remote island, and folks dance like this there every weekend and most nights between. I think small towns around the world have this atmosphere pretty frequently, you just gotta find those towns.
The Mountain House is a real bar/restaurant way up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Have been there several times. Neil used to have a ranch nearby. Absolutely beautiful area. ❤😊
Neil young - Powderfinger is a great song. Also the needle and the damage done. If you really want to dig into Neil young listen to Hey hey my my and my my hey hey. One is acoustic the other electric.
Everyone is reacting to the standard, acoustic ballads. They're great but you're missing out on what most serious Neil fans live him best for. He's a rocker at heart. Check out Cowgirl In the Sand for the best early rock song he recorded. Album cut. Then Southern Man and Alabama, then his coolest song, Revolution Blues. Edit...my tone above seems wrong. I love this song, to be clear, I just want you to check out his other side. The songs I listed above are a tiny fraction of his harder rocking output, by the way. Also, War Of Man from the Harvest Moon album is a great, anti military/industrial complex tune. Pretty haunting. Highly recommend.
One of the greatest love songs ever written. It’s not flashy, it’s adult: you need to have some experience to feel this- they’re no longer together but he’s still in love. Young ranks with the greatest of his generation: Lennon, Dylan, etc - he’s not as relentlessly prolific, but his best, like this, is equal to theirs. (He could ROCK too: he was the first of his generation to appreciate and welcome the Punks)✊🏽 After the Gold Rush My My Hey Hey
I don't know where to start this comment.....I'm a Canadian ...I'm younger than Neil Young....and I'm younger than Joni Mitchell... and we are all Scorpios.....we are soft, smooth lovers......and we are all Canadian......and I forgot where I started ....no if's and's or but's.........and I know that I love you.
Heart of Gold…another great one.
I've been around a long time. I'm76. This is my favorite song of all time. My wife and I danced to it at our daughter's wedding.
That’s gorgeous ♥️🤘🏽
With backing vocals from Linda Ronstadt, Nicollet Larson (RIP), Astrid Young...doesn't get any better

Shon, that harmonica was the icing on the cake! Neil can slay the harmonica!

You need to check out rocking Neil!
one of the most beautiful love songs
That sweeping sound is the metal brushes on the snare drum.
Exactly, but also the broom is his dance partner since he's working.

Boy does he ever play harmonica! It is featured in many of his songs. My fave by him would have to be "Comes A Time" from the album "Live Rust"

Wait until you hear the OTHER Neil.
Mesmerizing always! Wow Neil, I remember the early stuff…memories. And, love the reaction!

Neil has always had a way with words, and a great tone! One of my favorites is Sail Away!
