Thanks Polo. If you want to hear Neil kick it up a notch try Rocking in the free world, which he plays with the guys from Pearl Jam, or Hey Hey My My, by him with Crazy Horse.
Neil Young has a very challenging catalog. Some country and folk. Some blues. Some rockabilly. Some hard rock. Some extremely loud hard rock. Some electronic music which is extremely odd to watch live. And he jumps back and forth between styles without warning. Example, the release before this was a live set called Weld and a separate live disc called Arc created out of feedback. So each of the following are, in my mind, fantastic, but very, very different. The Loner Down by the River Country Girl (Crosby Stills Nash & Young, but he just had them add vocals to the completed track) Tonight's the Night Like a Hurricane Lotta Love Hey Hey My My (Into the Black) (Watch the "Live Rust version to see his stage show as the original version was recorded live anyway. Warning: It's possibly his loudest song) From Hank to Hendrix (from Unplugged) Bonus: I Got ID by Pearl Jam with Neil on guitar, recorded while Pearl Jam was his backing band on Mirror Ball.
Dont know any other way to contact you. Try checking out the band Rush. Pick any song off their "moving Pictures" album. They are a canadian rock band.
Neal Young has been on my radar since the early 70’s. Some of the best concerts were him alone and playing an acoustic guitar. The tracks you have reviewed are among my favorites. You might want to look into After The Gold Rush. Thanks for all the great reviews you have done.
I lost my dear wife died last Nov. this was one song that put voice to my love for her. We danced to this song. This song makes me cry, an I need to cry.
I would hate to think people didn't slow dance any more to beautiful tunes like this. Part of the art of courtship. This is a beautiful song and Harvest was the first album I ever bought - still play it, still love it. So happy that you youngsters are still appreciating the music we grew up on. Lovely reaction.
One of my oldest friends died last year. He was an artist who lived in a magical place off grid in the forest. When the harvest moon came out, he woke his partner and took her to dance to this in the field next to where they lived. They danced under the harvest moon. This song was played at his funeral in the beautiful field where he lived. and she recounted the story and swayed to the music with love and memories. it was one of the most tender moments I have experenced... and it was a full harvest moon that night ... I love this song ...and harvest moons are my favourtie.. Thank you for sharing x
Neil Young fan here. In the music video that Neil did, this song is done by Neil with a band in what looks like a small rural bar and the people are slow dancing to the song. The music video tells a story. One of the parts I like best is a guy using a straw broom to sweep up the floor in time with the music, in my imagination it is the drummer, matching the sound of the brushes used on the snare drum in the band. Thanks for your reaction to your personal choice. It's great to see you discovering music that has stood the test of time. th-cam.com/video/n2MtEsrcTTs/w-d-xo.html
With his then wife Pegi dancing with a person playing a younger Neil and in a scene i think a waitress at the bar. And i believe the other backup singer with Linda
@@jimwilcox2964 Pegi was a waitress when she first met Neil. So it's them as a young couple and as an older one, still slow dancing together on this harvest moon.
Slow dance the best body communication two can have without muttering a word during the song. Love slow dancing with the love of my life anywhere, anytime. Thanks, Neil, for the slow dance😊
I found my girlfriend and roommate of 20+ years dead in bed on the 4th 2024. This was one of our songs we'd dance to in the moonlight camping. I'm soo broken! This song is beautiful like she was! Rip Kate.
Polo, man this takes me back. My good friend Jeff introduced me to Neil in college. He was such a big fan. Believe it or not he even did an electronica album Trans in the 80’s, kind of an homage to Kraftwerk. And he did great work with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Hard to believe how he could transition from a soft love song to driving electric rock. Thanks for the listen. 🖖🏼
Glad you like Neil. He's got a voice people either love or hate, but if you love his voice, he has a crazy deep catalog to check out. Next I would recommend Cowgirl in the Sand or Helpless
High school …Neil Young . This man has an old soul . One of the greatest of our generation. This song in particular will wrap itself around your heart and soul.
Heart of Gold is the most iconic song from the Harvest Moon album, in my opinion. It's the song everyone immediately recognizes as Neil Young. Beautiful.
Yeah, when you said he lets the song breathe I think that's probably why I find it so beautiful and calming. It kinda feels like a cure to all your troubles when you're blissing out to it.
We have so many sing-aloud road trip memories of this whole album from back in the day from a cassette tape. Neil Young's music from back then is the best kind of time machine.
You’re right this entirely transports the listener, suddenly in the countryside on a beautiful evening there’s a honkytonk or barn dance somewhere 😁 His love songs are realistic, simple, and sooo beautiful - like his voice.
Watch the official video. The backup vocals were were sung by two talented and knockout beautiful women. You'll see them several times in the video. Killer backups
The Unplugged version of this blows this masterpiece out of the water. That entire album from Neil Young is perfection. From Hank to Hendrix - please do that one!
Hello from Canada 🍁. I have 78 albums in my itunes with Neil Young on them. If you keep digging into his musical archive, you might find some surprises 🎉🕊🎶❄️...❄️.....🫴
You just have to react to some of Neil's rock songs - like Southern Man, Rocking in the Free World, My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue), Cowgirl in the Sand... he's seriously amazing... and Heart of Gold - beautiful tune.
This song means so much to me. I lost my husband nearly 7 years ago but I remember us dancing to this song. Just in our house, not necessarily at a club. This song always makes me think of the man who was my best friend. ❤❤❤
A long time Neil Young fan! His songs always have deep meaning. On a social conscience scale, you should check out “Southern Man” This song is about racism in the American South, with references to slavery and the Ku Klux Klan. Young claimed the song was more about the civil rights movement than the South in particular, but many Southern men (and women) didn't appreciate the generalization. In his 2012 biography Waging Heavy Peace, Young apologized for the song, writing: "I don't like my words when I listen to it. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue." Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote "Sweet Home Alabama" as a response to this song. Young is mentioned in the line, "I hope Neil Young will remember, a Southern man don't need him around anyhow." Lynyrd Skynyrd were big fans of Young. "Sweet Home Alabama" was meant as a good-natured answer to "Southern Man," explaining the good things about Alabama. Skynyrd lead singer Ronnie Van Zandt often wore Neil Young T-shirts while performing. Young was quite happy with "Sweet Home Alabama." He said, "They play like they mean it, I'm proud to have my name in a song like theirs."
Neil was supposed to perform on an awards show of some kind.. I think the Junos’, but was very sick, so at the last moment, KD Lang came on, dedicated his song “Helpless” to him and wished him well, then proceeded to blow the roof off. You should really give it a listen, it’s beautiful. Love all his music ❤
I am a huge Neil Young's fan, been listening to him for years . I remember hearing this in a David Swimmer's Movie and was blown away Straight the moment it came on . Just saw him play San Diego 2 days ago. Incredible .
This was played at my brother’s wedding on the California north coast in the redwoods. It was October ‘98 and there really was a full moon. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.
Saw Neil on this tour here in STL.... By himself onstage with 6 guitars, a tray full of harmonicas, and a pump organ behind him. When I tell you magic happened at Riverport Amphitheater that night I mean every bit of it. Think I was 20...
There are a couple of very good videos of him in concert where it is just him, his guitar and his harmonica so you can see his superlative musicianship. Heart of Gold and Old Man done at the Harvest 50th Anniversary concert.
One of the best songs. My wife and I heard My Morning Jacket perform this in Mexico on our honeymoon and it was transformative. Speaking of which. Plenty more MMJ for you Polo!
Long time Neil Young Fan....his sound was always his own, raw , bitter, and always real The Harvest song is sweet and so melodic!! T y Polo Enjoy the journey , been a fan since CSNY lol
This song is in my heart forever; I think it is Neil Young’s most beautiful song. It’s on my funeral list. That broom sweep sound throughout? This was his 90’s work. Wonderful. As others have said, this entire album is great. For Neil’s hardest rocking music, please react to “Cinnamon Girl” and “Down By The River” 🔥
That subtle swishing sound is a man with a broom sweeping it across the floor. In the video of this song we see that. Neil takes his wife in his arms & they slow dance. He heard the guy sweeping & put it in the song.
In 93 I believe Neil Young did a MTV unplugged and made a record of it :) Very worth a look into.. He is defiantly a Sunday afternoon with nothing to do but chill vibe.
This was on a birth mix my best friend sent me for labor. We did a home birth and both my mom and husband's mom were there, along with the midwife. We put in the mix and this song started and everyone in the room burst into tears. ❤

Thank you for sharing that with us. I hope your memories bring you joy.
Linda Ronstadt on backup vocals! This whole album is great!🖖🏼

Not sure but I think James Taylor on background vocals.

Neil uses an actual broom that brushes along a pad to create that sound. He used it when I saw him live.
Shout out to Dale Crover from the Melvins playing a young Neil on the dance floor 🤘 Neil forever and always. So beautiful 💙
You answered his question of slow dancing to this song!!!
This is a beautiful record. The entire thing, every song, is perfection. ❤
Slow dance the best body communication two can have without muttering a word during the song. Love slow dancing with the love of my life anywhere, anytime. Thanks, Neil, for the slow dance😊

Neil takes you with him as he tells wonderful but fragile stories. Things we all relate to, he's a poet.
“It’s full of treats” is about the nicest thing a music reaction can include. Love your vibe.

Neil is REAL in every way. give his electric side a listen : "Rockin' in a Free World" "Like a Hurricane" "Cinnamon Girl" "Southern Man"
Neil is not real. He never existed.
