You forgot 9/11?
@ ok
2024 Handea Airport Collision is the first loss of the A350 and the 5 people on board the Dash8 Q400 during the relief of the devastating Noto earthquake 😢
At least all passengers on japan airlines evacuated quickly and survived
The second plane should have been in the list. Even after the first plane’s collision, people didn’t know if it was an accident or not. That second plane left no doubt.
The scariest thing I ever saw live on the news was the plane hitting the second tower.
I watched the Challenger explosion in school and it had nothing on that second plane hitting. It happened moments after I woke up and turned the TV on to watch the news and I was glued to the TV for hours. It was like I was living in a dream. I couldn't believe it
Same
I was surprised to see it not on the list.
Yup
@C3T1C i think it was on a previous list of theirs
Going from the Challenger shuttle explosion to a little alligator squirming is jarring.
And then a guy who was attacked by a bug. The brutal bug attack is “scarier” than an alligator with its mouth taped and the freaking Challenger explosion.
Its. Not. In. Order. Ffs
Watchmojo: 30 scariest things caught on live tv news
me: *knows a certain day in September will be brought up* 👀
bigger surprise: its not
Exactly
Some of these were just downright silly! A bug flying near a reporter's face, 2 old guys pushing a desk into each other, I mean seriously, was anyone really "scared" seeing thoes things play out on tv? Lol..
No 9/11? Shocking. I saw the second plane hit live while watching on a TV in my high-school. I was in NY and people freaked...
I’m flabbergasted about this
I'm surprised as well I remember coming home from school and seeing how bad it was
I remember being at work in Canada that day.
At the time, I worked in the tallest skyscraper in a major city. I thought, maybe we'll be targeted next.
The boss sent everyone home. My stomach was doing flip flops. I'll never forget that day.
This, we were watching it live in school too. The schools weren't sure what to do.
@@wobbuffetbuffet I was out of school that day, but once my mom seen it she came and got me and my brother up to watch it. Every tv was tuned into this! No idea why it wasn’t on here.
The challenger explorion still brings me to tears. Days before I meet two of the astronauts including the teacher. I even have my picture with them.
I thought for sure the plane hitting the second tower would be number 1
REAL
it's only scary to you guys. american foreign policy is responsible for way more deaths abroad... but you don't care about that.
Only watch mojo can make a list saying a black bug is scarier than a rocket 🚀 blowing up
I wonder if that bug flying in the face of that reporter was trying to show off for its friends. I bet there were other bugs watching the news, saying "Hey, isn't that Greg? Greg's on the news!"
I thought I'd be certain about what would be number 1 on the list and was astonished it's not even on the list. I was sure that United Airlines Flight 175 being deliberately flown into the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11 was the scariest thing shown live on TV News. The fact that several hundred people died in front of billions of people around the world was terrifying, in fact, on a personal level, it haunted my nightmares for years afterwards. I am utterly amazed it isn't even on the list 😮
yawn. footage of the 8yr old vietnamese girl doused with yummy american napalm, skin falling off her body. the l.a.p.d. beating rodney king. chauvin kneeling on floyd's neck for 9 minutes while smiling at the phone cams. january 6th... & that's just 0.1%
the Challenger... my Grandpa was in the hospital after having a heart attack. Mom & her brother agreed not to tell him about it, but someone visited told him about it, he was upset about it. I was about 5yrs old, i really don't remember it.
Wow that was such a boring story
Challenger should be WAY higher
@@jewferigno6920 Wow, that was such a rude comment.
How on earth is the Challenger explosion lower on the list than an alligator or a bug?
Three men fighting each other with a desk was not something I expected to see today. 🤣
0:38 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that is QUITE CLEARLY the back of Joe Biden’s head 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
THEORY CONFIRMED!
umm they're talking about the image on the right, not the reflection of his head... though i don't see anything ghostly about it myself lmao.
@@cheallaigh Did anyone see that the image changed at the EXACT time Obama moved? Almost like it was a reflection as well?
@@ronaldbender7226shut up
They’re talking about to the right of Obama. But it’s a case of paradolia
I was 16 when the Challenger exploded. They did in fact have those TV's wheeled in to our classrooms so that we could watch the launch. No Joke. I heard a student behind me say heh.... watch the thing explode, a few seconds later it did. EVERYONE just turned to stare at him. It was the creepiest thing!
yeah saw it as science class and it being the first teacher on board... my poor teacher didn't know how to react to a classroom full of newly traumatized students.
@@cheallaighThis to me was the worst part. It was the day I learned that grown ups don't know and can't fix everything (I was 8)
I also saw it live in school. I was 6 years old and the entire class went silent, when the explosion happened and our teacher made us all go outside. Sad day
Did I miss the LA riots? Watching that as a kid was terrifying.
I remember my grandpa was there that year he moved to Texas later
Reginald Denny and that brick is forever burned into my brain.
I had no idea they was gonna include the Allison Parker shooting. It came from such a small Appalachian town. I didn't think it would make it to Big City™ News. Allison was such a kind soul. So genuine and creative. She's been missed by her home area for a nearly decade.
That one had me crying 😭 that's horrible
I was in LA the day that the Rodney King verdict came down and the rioting started. Watching the looting and burning of places that we had just toured an hour before was a very disturbing thing to me as well as the physical violence to innocent people.
If I was a ghost. I'd stay in he white house too 😂
Bradford Stadium fire and Hillsborough disaster? I remember watching both of these unfold live with a sense of horror.
Hell they’re tragic to watch footage from now I can’t imagine seeing it live. Heartbreaking.
I lived through that 8.1 earthquake, Cali, that centered in Hollister. I was watching "who framed roger rabbit" and drinking coke. Cracked our house in half. Freeways collapsed onto each other in San Jose. Scariest thing i've experienced
you put a guy that's afraid of an animal WAY above two people getting killed, among many other things. wtf
Its not an "in order" list.
The male animal handler in the Boston newsclip was unprofessional, in my opinion. He didn't seem to know how to handle the gator himself, and put too much responsibility on the newscaster.
This may not be the most important or shocking item on this list, but it certainly did bother me.
5:30 "The live feed Died." Some choice of words considering the videographer and reporter died at the same exact time also
I saw the 2nd plane hit the World Trade Center live on the news.
Oh I know you did NOT put the guy freaking out about the bug higher on the list than the GODDAMN CHALLANGER EXPLOSION.
Im 24 and the scariest thing i watched on live tv was the boston marathon bombing.
There was a NASA disaster in the 60's where the astronauts in a capsule died on the ground when the capsule caught fire
I thought about that, too, but realized that they said “in air disaster.” However, wasn’t the breakup of the Columbia run live?
the reporter sounded like Hank Hill "bah haaaa"😂😂😂😂
Big bird from sesame Street was supposed to be on the challenger when it exploded. Since they were showing it in schools. Luckily something happened that prevented him from getting on. I believe it was something with the suit. But Kids would've been even more traumatized.
This is the first I've heard of Big Bird being on the Challenger
@MDCSWildcats86 true story.
@@MDCSWildcats86its one of my favorite weird facts
I'm starting to question WatchMojo's journalistic integrity...
2 of the most disturbing that you did not show is #1 the 9/11 twin towers incident & #2 the rodney king riot in california. I thought you should know all this.....
Absolute whiplash of watching the Japanese tsunamis wipe out thousands of people and then two dudes being scared of animals.
Right? These lists have gone downhill these past few years.. They used to be fairly good.
I would really like to know who is responsible for sequencing these videos… it really seems like they put their number one in the number one spot, and then everything else is in no particular order. The Challenger and those two people being shot and killed are far scarier than some of the stuff they put ahead of it.
100%
This. The order is....pretty off-putting
Stop putting three lists together and calling it a top 30 when you put no effort whatsoever into actually making a list. Four people being killed in a helicopter crash and two others being murdered on live tv are much, much, much more horrifying than a guy freaking about a bug being too close to his face ... that's just two examples.
Either stop being lazy and make an actual list or stop calling these top 30 when they're nothing more than three somewhat similarly themed lists back-to-back-to-back.
Today marks 1 year since the Turkey/Syria Earthquake
I was in Vancouver when the Stanley cup riots broke out. My cousin and I were in a pub not far from the arena. The bar locked us inside and we enjoyed drinks while watching the shenanigans. My car donated all of its windows to that party.
Crazy, also sad that it even happened, hope the fans calmed down in subsequent years too.
I never knew things were aside from scary and traumatizing - to... how do I put this... supernatural?
Every speech of your new Dictator in Chief is much scarier than any of these.
28:11 is the suspended camera above the field. It follows the ball at the same pace. *Debunked*
I'm more likely to believe you over that shit.
The scariest thing I ever saw on tv was the Challenger explosion, and then 9/11.
What else can be more chilling than lightning on live TV?
don't you mean 'more shocking'
@@Comdev11Ba-dum--tissss
I've seen lights like #8 on a 4th of July over a stadium. This was before the fireworks started.
I haven't seen anything like that but I've seen some weird $hit in the sky in Arizona. My favorite one was an iridescent bubble that both "floated" and moved rapidly. Last one was a blue yellow light that flashed across the sky, followed by this electrical humming that hit like a Shockwave. There was zero electrical disturbance and silence followed. That one unnerved me for some reason.
The scariest and creepiest thing is that there have been accounts with someone’s irl name that comment on this channel trying to impersonate that person.
They also don't understand what a privacy claim is. TH-cam has rules on sharing private information like a name or address for example. Besides they can easily terminate some one for it
Trump getting re-elected is the scariest event in television history!!
The ghosts in the White House have left until Trump's term is over. They find him scary.
It's you turds that don't take accountability for your actions that the ghosts don't like.
Maybe they'll decide they've had enough of his shit and drive him out
Watch out for sharp things 😉 take care
@@ericrietvelt1970 I'm so glad that he won. People like you have been tear-rists with power for way too long...
@@b.entranceperiumterrorists*
The Station nightclub wasn't on live TV bro
No Budd Dwyer? Crazy
The tornado 🌪 news clip is crazy
Yeah...I don't think a giant bug holds the same level of "scary" as massacres and space disasters.
The disappearing woman was actually a famous athlete. She said she was walking alongside the other woman
There's a video from another angle where you see her just walking away. No mystery at all.
I quit watching after a bug flying around a reporter got on the list and i guarantee 911 wasnt on the list.
How is shooing away a bug a scary thing caught on tape
Was taking a break from playing Suikoden II. changed to local TV and the tower was up in smokes, then moments later another plane crashes unto it before it crumbled.. & for a fee minutes I thought I was watching a movie before realizing it was actually happening in real time 🥶
Crashes, death & gang violence is scary to witness
Water is wet.
@@StanHalen1936 Stating the obvious now troll? How dull.
Fire is hot
@@DefinitelyNotChrisFogg No kidding....
@@DefinitelyNotChrisFogg imagine having multiple accounts to harass others with there private information.
just sayin, an alligator not actually doing anything and a bug should not be ranked higher than actual deaths..... @WatchMojo, do better
6:15 that's a lot of social credit going down the drain if YT-kun were actually allowed in China.
Challenger #22?!?!?!?!?
Honestly this is the dumbest thing y'all have ever done, and that's really saying something.
for the challenger, not everyone died when it exploded, several fell with the fuselage and died from impact with the water
12:35 aww it’s just a *Carpenter Bee* 🐝 They’re usually just curious & don’t sting humans unless they feel threatened
A bug flying at a guys face ranks higher than the shuttle exploding. Or people being murdered? Ok I guess
The Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami was #20? Really? No mention of 9/11? Really?
The Montana zombie incident makes me laugh. Ok, they shouldn't have hacked the system, but making it about something unrealistic thing ever isn't the worst ever.
When thunder roars... get out on a lake with a steel fishing rod... out on the links with a steel driver... on a roof top with electronic equipment...
Become a stanza in the ever expanding song of, "Dumb Ways To Die".
I saw the Challenger explode live. Everyone one in my school knew Christa McAuliffe. Schools closed for a week after. It was horrible to see, I'll never forget.
These were interesting but definitely out of order.
This was a crazy video! WM thanks for providing years of entertainment ❤️🔥❤️🔥
The AIR PIRATE in Chicago broke into 2 Chicago stations on the same night and those responsible were never caught
I remember exactly where I was when The Challenger exploded 😭 I'll never forget what I saw at that moment. Absolutely devastating 💔
These things were the scariest! I felt bad for the innocent victims in some of them. Since there are ghosts👻👻 in some, I wonder how the victims died when they were alive. God bless all the victims. 🙏 And shame on the assailant for shooting someone!
I actually had a doll just like that growing up. It was called the Gibson Bride, I think. She had these beautiful pale hazel eyes and light auburn/light brown hair and an ivory dress. I think she resides at my mom’s house now. And, no, she wasn’t haunted lol.
The first thing with the "White House Ghost" is beyond ridiculous. How can you even mention that? When the rest is on the same level of stupid, I'm out.
That doctor who reference was so incredibly niche hello? 😭
Had they seen the Joplin TV station's reaction to the 22 May 2011 tornado, MOJO would've chosen this. Joplin's is far more frightening than Rockford's but not as known about.
Worse things I've seen live on tele: the politician who self exited with a gvn, the challenger, 9-11, the Fukushima nuclear accident, and prolly more I'm missing. The tele is such a great invention.
I've been friends with Steve Burton. I actually made him sign a picture of him holding the alligator that I framed. It was later stolen from the restaurant where I worked.
If Vancouver won, it would’ve been the same news report
Dude, even I know scotch tape isn't enough to hold a Alligator's mouth shut. Both Alligators and Crocodiles are two (of many) animals that have a rediculously powerful jaw and bite.
they are strong on closing and not on opening, but yeah even scotch tape ain't much even with their weaker jaw opening.
Actually for me the scariest thing on this video is the near constant "Vocal Fry" from the woman narrating it,
ending each sentence with a grinding, low note. 😖😮
The Challenger was the scariest thing to be caught on live television. So many astronauts were killed during live TV news.
An alligator was more frightening than witnessing the Challenger disintegrate over the ocean?
I've seen the Uncensored footage of the Budd Dwyer suicide on live tv, and it's one of the most Horrendous things i ever seen in my life.
And what makes those images even more Terrifying it's the fact that Budd Dwyer was Inocent of all those fake charges against him.
An Inocent Man takes his own life on live Tv,because of the utter corrupt system that framed him.
Very Dark, Horrible and Revolting images.
first one i really remember watching.. mt st helens after it blew, feeling the effects and then watching what we could on live tv. then i was in high school science years later and we watched challenger blow up, our poor teacher didn't know what to do... the then oklahoma bombing, and twin towers first attack... and then the plane hitting the second tower in the second attack a few years later.
there so many other things now at this point, it's sad.
This, the story of the riots after the hockey game, is so, so scary. Mob mentality is terrifying. What has gone wrong? Why does violence come so easy. Is there anything or any way that these actions can be at least tempered?
Leave it to watch mojo not to include 911. Are y'all high, drunk or just plain *beep*?
Number 2 is a spider cam.
I remember several of these from when they aired. Though near misses with lightning in AZ is just par for the course. Some years ago I was about to leave the pet store when a strike annihilated a palm tree less than 100 yards from where I was standing. Bolt EMPed my house too, some years later. I got away with minor damage, but my neighbor got all his audio equipment fried.
The Station is why I unplug and turn everything off before bed. Fire is no joke and I’d rather be too careful.
Even your fridge?
The scariest thing i saw in tv is when there are no channels
00:00 That was Andrew Jackson ghost hiding the silverware 😅
After September 11th, 2001 I no longer watch live TV.
Anyone else start watching this and instantly imagined a funny twist to the first clip? Let me explain. The ghost in the white house described as a ghostly figure watching then president Obama and before they said the next line "from a window of the white house" I immediately died laughing thinking the twist would be them mistaking pale Biden as the ghost. 🤣🤣
Hello good afternoon ❤❤❤
I am surprised it didn’t show up!!
And the Columbia Shuttle?
I didn't see this live, but after hearing about it (and seeing it in a TH-cam video) I'm surprised Budd Dwyer's suicide isn't on this list...
it was too cold for the challenger to take off.
The order of this list and the vocal fry is cringe 😬 really really a bug and a gator are scarier than watching people die?! how are you not embarrassed?!
16:44 Even more so, that day was Sep 19, which is the anniversary of the strongest most destructive earthquake to hit Mexico City (in 1985), usually that day we do drills in memory of major quake so we (in 2017) were all confused if it was actually shaking or if it was just the drill. Fun fact: Another earthquake struck THAT SAME DATE in 2022. Moral of the story: Don't come to Mexico City in September.
