    Without a doubt the best multi cam tutorial out and I've seen a lot. No gimmicks just to the point. I started editing using PP and completely switched to DR a couple years back. It was a bit of a curve but I managed to harness it for my professional needs. I don't use DR on a regular daily basis but when I do use it, I'm using it from 2-4 weeks per production. Having tutorials which are easy to follow and get right to the point help the workflow stay as smooth as possible which is why this one is bookmarked! Between video prods my bread & butter is (still) photography (30 + years) for which I shoot, edit and post prod anywhere from 3000-10,000 images a week, so my muscle memory is devoted to Photoshop. Thanks!

    I'm a hobbies/enthusiast I've been using Premier Pro for years and it's a handful to use, just started Davinci with a new computer and loving it! so much easier!!! I had just completed my first multi camera music video on Premier Pro, took many hours to work out how to do it:( Davinci looks almost childs play in comparison! this makes me look forward to another multicam shoot :)
    Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Loving davinci more and more.

    Wow, as a complete novice, this was such an incredible video to watch. Thanks Kevin for walking me through this. Maybe I'm a newbie, but the fact that DaVinci Resolve syncs the audio and video across up to 16 video cameras...is insane. And it's FREE!

    I've been watching your channel for the last several weeks; and like others below, I find your presentations to be very clear and easy to follow. I very much like the fact that you always use colored circles and other slightly opaque shapes to help identify where the pointer arrow is on your screen shots. That is such an invaluable aid in helping the viewer keep oriented. Obviously, you know what you're doing and I look forward to continue learning from you!

    One really helpful thing with multicam editing on Resolve that you didn't mentioned is the ability to "open the multicam timeline". So that you can adjust, or add other angles directly in your Multicam. You just have to right click and pick "open in timeline" (don't forget to activate the multi timeline viewer on the left) and then you'll avec access to your multicam timeline.
    Your Welcome ;)

    Great video. Only thing I was hoping to se but didn't was using multiples from 2+ cameras with the files saved as the cameras do their own naming convention. Like a lot of people I use a main DSLR and a action cam for overhead / moving shots etc. I'll toy with the import options to see which way best integrates my default named files. THanks for everything else in here, made it super easy!

    Hi, I came here after searching for Multi-Cam editing. I like your channel at first glance, and so have, and am, checking out some of your other Vids.
    I am Novice in anything computing, but picked up a few things well in the Area of Windows, Office, Excel in the last few years.
    I want to have a go at sharing my knowledge soon via a TH-cam tutorial channel.
    I would like to do it a bit differently, - more „raw“- more real and Human, and I wont use a screen recording as much as is typical in my subject area.
    I got a room set up now and want a few cameras recording at the same time so as to do the Multi-Cam switching between camera editing thing, as I jump up to do some , hopefully entertaining, demos of the things I am explaining .
    After watching this and some of your other stuff I am going to go the DaVinci way for the editing.
    Do you have any suggestions on how I should go about the simultaneous recordings. I bought a few similar cameras and already have a few older laptops spare, so I could just set them all off recording at around the same time. But I wonder if there is a more efficient way?
    3-4 cameras should do for me, (although perhaps one camera might be best replaced by a screen recording).
    I have no experience at all with recording software, but my initial research suggest they record one camera or screen. Maybe I am wrong? I wonder if there is a software solution that allows simultaneous Multi- Cam recording?
    Alan

    • @muzlee7479
      @muzlee7479 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You'd need a capture card that supports that many cameras.
      Or if you are recording through usb you could try something like obs, but that's an unnecessary workaround honestly. It's easier to just record all of them separately. Just don't forget to have a sync point

    • @alanelston2330
      @alanelston2330 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@muzlee7479 Thanks for that reply.
      Over the last month I have been getting more clued up on it all.
      I am still a Layman, but my feeling was that it could be a bit too complicated, multi camera recording, so your advise is good to hear.
      I have pretty well settled on Davinci Resolve for the editing, and so went on to spend some time trying to check out the vast amount of video recording software’s. There seems to be a frightening amount.
      By coincidence, I actually ended up initially deciding for obs, despite initially passing it by: Initially I passed it a few times in searches, but disregarded it at first glance as looking too advanced for me. But a few times it cropped up again, and on trying it I found it surprisingly easy to master, at least for the simplest recording. Further more I found that for me it worked easily on some lower performance laptops that I have lying around spare. As I went on to learn obs slightly more fully, I was only so far using a single camera
      So its looking like hanging a single camera on a few of those spare laptops could be the way to go initially.
      I will look carefully at the sync point that you mentioned, thanks for that advice.
      I might however perhaps use one laptop to do simultaneously a screen recording and one of the cameras recording.
      Interestingly after initially deciding on obs after reading up elsewhere, I later noticed by checking out info for the simultaneous screen recording and camera with obs, that Kevin has some videos on obs. So that is nice. It suggests this channel is one I should check out a bit more often.
      Alan

    For those of you who do not have the pleasure of using the AI or software to sync your clips for you. Create a timeline with those clips and sync them manually however you can (I listen to my audio and get it as close as possible). To then convert those clips to a Multicam clip this software for some reason wants to be a right foul whore as simply converting to multicam will not show the other clips. The way to do it is: Convert the timeline to multicam --> Create new timeline from that --> Convert the timeline to multicam AGAIN and you will now see the multiple angles as you're supposed to. About gouged my eyes out trying to figure this out.

    At 5:16 you drug the multi-clip to a blanks timeline. I don't have a blank timeline so I need to do something different. In this case I used _Open in Timeline_ but that gave me a timeline with the three clips on individual tracks; three video tracks and three audio tracks. That didn't look like what you got, so I went back and selected _Create New Timeline with Selected Clips._ That looks like the timeline you got by just dragging it into a blank edit timeline. I also have my _Media Pool_ set to show Icons which makes it easier to identify what each item in the bin actually is.

    Amazing video, especially choosing the audio source in multicam.
