I remember the first time I saw this video. (It was the first time I heard of this band.) It was at my Grandmother's house, late at night, on Headbangers Ball. I shortly had all their albums, and listened to them more than Metallica and Megadeth. Still holds up as great music.
I had almost the exact same experience at my grandmother's house. Unfortunately the dated vocals don't work for me anymore. My initial reaction was "Sometimes you cant go back"Glad it worked out better for you :/
dated vocals? what does that even mean?.. actual singing? that's where the problem is with today's metal , every one wants to growl out their lyrics, it all sounds the same
@@ahopefor How saturated if in this same year we had Holy Wars, Twisted Into Form, Persistence Of Time, Seasons In The Abyss, Swallowed In Black, etc, and later some killer albums from Sepultura, Megadeth, Slayer, Coroner, Evildead, Annihilator, Sodom, etc, etc?
I've wondered the same since UltraViolence was pumped out in 87. I wore out the cheap cassette my friend 'burned, haha' me a copy onto in about 3 weeks and went and bought the vinyl myself. As well as their next 2 albums. Got to hang out with them and Rigor Mortis on the Frolic Tour, because the show we went to lost Power when Death Angel took the stage. I drove the guys to Food World to get beer because the drinking age in Alabama had gone to 21 and I had a fake ID. And I guess they wanted to ride in my Trans AM instead of the other people offering. They were all freaked out someone would steal their money.
It's good to see a few new comments posted. I was a young buck at 18 in the Marines when this Album dropped. Act 3 is Thrash perfection! Including A Room with a View and Veil of Deception! It's the pinnacle of the very late 80s 1990! Pure Art!
Veil of Deception and A Room With A View are two classics! Thanks for the reminder. :-) I think I was 17 when this music was out. My memories of Seemingly Endless Time especially are endlessly playing the TurboGrafx-16 video game Bonk's Adventure and bonking a shit ton of enemies over and over with my oversized caveman head and doing flips with him while the solo starting at about 1:24 played. Good times, good teenage memories. I don't personally know any other females who like Death Angel. My hubby doesn't even like them, LOL. In the 80's I was the only one of my female friends who liked Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Death Angel, Flotsam and Jetsam, Testament, etc. My female friends liked Bon Jovi.
yeah, indeed good to hear theres still people of that age lovin thrash!!! I started listening to it when i was like 16, 17, im 22 now lol, that music cant be beaten!!! Keep enjoyind dudes, long live thrash!!
A bible thumper friend of my moms as a kid found a bunch of metal bands cassette tapes on the road. They acted like they discovered Hitler's diary. I said I would take them. I already had been listening to other heavy stuff like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax... you name it. I never heard of Death Angel. Act III was one of the tapes. I couldn't believe I'd never heard of them before since I listened to so much thrash already. Such an underappreciated band and record. Moral of the story is... One person's devil music is another person's great addition to a music collection.
AWSOMENESS! If you don't have this CD get it. It rocks as do all their stuff. This band was just ready to explode and sadly their drummer got hurt in a tour bus accident and they ended up breaking up in 1991 or so. They were ALL related and when one couldn't play, the drummer, they split. There back together now and still kick ass.
Oh yeah my friends' band played this @ our school's talent show...I was sitting in the front row the night of the performance and I got up and started headbanging and it blew everybodies minds....I think some parent shit themselves....Classic!
When they appeared on the scene, their drummer was like 12 years old and the band kicked ass!! The Ultraviolence record is a well respected metal album. They're going to play @ the Voodoo Lounge on 6/5/09, hopefully I'll be there!!!.
I saw them in Tijuana B.C., Mexico in 1990 one night before the car crash that broke them up for 14 years. There was no noise curfew or time they had to stop playing so they played until 1am. They started playing cover songs of other bands after a while. They had alot of energy. Iguanas was the name of the club in Tijuana.
have this album on vinyl....I appreciate it more now than I did when it came out....I think looking back the talent as a band actually exceeded the likes of Metallica however the promotion just wasn't there.
My bros. played this at our high school talent show, my buddy who was the guitar player, and singer told me. " You better fucking bang while we're on stage!" I did the whole song. Some of our other friends got up with me, it was fantastic
Thank you for this iconic video and song. Death Angel really is a great band. A lot of great memories watching this. I miss the late 80's and early 90's really bad.
They were awesome at concert.. I'll never forget it and i hope there's more metalheads aged 15 like me :) But people, remember one thing, let people listen what do they like cuz i like some jazz, blues, pop too.. (but metal is best tbh.. :P )
ive got this on vinyl somewhere.totally forgot about them, aint it amazing that you can not hear something for almost 20 years and it comes straight back to you!! i was 16 at the time and i remember thinking how young they looked.
i dunno but my 44 years of life progressed with me from venom ,metallica ,celtic frost and so on to jungle rot ,behemoth and such ,life was good back then and the bands were awesome but live for today and remember them when they do a victory tour ,for any band
Its funny, when ActIII came out it took me abit to get into it, but when I did I couldn't stop listening to it. In my mind one of the most underrated bands of that era.
death angel was badass then just listening to them from Act III and onwards how they have progressed musically and with their lyrics is so badass wish I was alive then to see this shit but I got the modern shit still so awesome I'm sixteen and power to metal
holy shit these guys used to be my favorite band next to metallica in the 80s and 90s i'mreally glad to see them on youtube!!!!death angel fuckin rocks!!!
hey trust and russel its good to recognize their herritage because i'm filipino too and was inspired to play guitar because of them but if you want them to be recognize on an international level lets just talk about them as an awsome band that happens to be fil-am because they grew up in the bay area where thrash was born. We dont want others who arent filipino to feel alienated by labeling them because these guys were on the level with metalica back in the days...even touring with them.
Don't hate....Appreciate. I saw Death Angel live about 10 times in the Bay Area (The Stone in SF, and The Omni).....awesome....nothing compares to Kill em All....(Mistress of Pain). Love em.

Same scenario here. Grandmother's and cable TV :)
dated vocals? what does that even mean?.. actual singing? that's where the problem is with today's metal , every one wants to growl out their lyrics, it all sounds the same
I have a very similar story. I was at grandmas huge house during summertime watching headbangers ball except the first song I heard was "I'm bored".
I remember that triple thrash threat them and Death lack of comprehension
Death angel and Metal church are the 2 best of the under-rated metal bands of all time. Glad there are so many of true fans still around.
Metalchurch first album is super amazing even 35 years later unprecedented
Anyone else still listening to this banger in 2023
I can't believe Death Angel isn't a more popular band.
They were in a saturated subgenre at a time when it was at its height, bit yeah they should be more well known.

I played ACT 3 just about every day on my cassette Walkman, walkin to work.

Jet Jaguar likes Death Angel wtf!!!

I remember those days. so awesome!
scott wasnt that the best.... sat. night a party at someones house and watching headbangers ball
I'll chime up here and say this video and Helloween's I want out (among other forgotten videos) introduced me to such great music on Headbangers Ball.
nowadays MTV is ballbangers head
I've always enjoyed the juxtaposition of the speedy thrash music in conjunction with the slow-motion photography in this video. Brilliant!
I so love UltraViolence and Act III. Act III sound is way ahead of its time.
My best friend and got to meet these guys after a show back in 89...they were SO nice, a night I will never forget.

I saw these guys back in the 90's at the living room in Providence, RI. It was a kick ass show!!!!!
When they appeared on the scene, their drummer was like 12 years old and the band kicked ass!! The Ultraviolence record is a well respected metal album. They're going to play @ the Voodoo Lounge on 6/5/09, hopefully I'll be there!!!.
Man, these guys have still got what it takes! Really cool to see some of the old bands coming back to kick the shite out of today's crappy wannabes!
It is the year 2024 now and Megadeth just released the best album of their entire career
Death Angel is still one of my favorites!
Awesome song! This whole album kicked ass!
Still great after years
One the greatest metal videos. What a great period this was for metal and rock.
Still sounds good 17 years on, I'm 34 now!!!
I saw them live back in the day and they were awesome.
This song is very old, I used to listen all musics from this album back in 1994!
it is very good though for that time.
Such a killer song brings back alot of cool memories of a way cooler and more free time!!!Real Metal here!!!
Drumming, guitars, vocals... good song.

Indeed. Death Angel and Gothic Slam were sadly underrated back in the day.
