I remember Death Angel playing on the outdoor stage at Clayton Valley High School during lunch one day in 1985. The student body looked on in shock, amazement, disbelief, confusion, and fear..... except for the 20 or so rivethead stoners headbanging away wondering how far will Death Angel actually go. Who could have predicted they would become thrash legends doing 25th Anniversary shows of The Ultra Violence in 2012? Absolutely amazing. Couldn't have happened to a better group of guys either.
I went to high school with mark and rob, they were total rock stars at my high school, and mark was the high school president in 87 I think, which is hilarious and awesome. .to have a long haired metalhead as the school president! !
I am Vietnamese and saw these guys back in the 80s. I even crowd surfed on stage and walked backstage with the. because the security guards thought I was them.
death Angel filmed this in Daly City at Andy”s parents House Just a Few blocks Away From my Families House! local brothers making History in Thrash Metal Scene! I Love those Guys! Proud to Know Them! kill as One!
Brings back a lot of memories for me. I grew up in the bay area in the 80s and these guys were local celebrities; I'm the same age they are. I used to work at a shopping mall they hung out at and I saw them countless times at The Stone in the city. They made it really big by their 3rd album then disappeared. So sad. They could have been Metallica or Pantera.
Rob is such an underrated and overlooked legend! He's probably about 14 years old here and is executing proper lead guitar solos. His solos are always thought out and add to the song, rather than scale shredding wankery!!!
You are certainly right about his talent. But Rob was born in 1968, he's probably the oldest at 19 here. Andy was 14 when The Ultra-Violence was recorded.
Oct 10, 1987- my 18th birthday. At the Stone (long defunct San Francisco music club) it was openers Hellhound, Forbidden Evil, and THESE guys. One of the most legendary epic metal shows in history. All three bands just killed it. Still have great memories of that show- all this time gone by.
I used to go to a club close by top of the hill..thats where I got my first traffic ticket also..down the hill by the Bart station.close to the liquor store
I remember when this album came out, I actually read a little snippet in “People” magazine about them and went out that day and bought the album. I miss Andy in the mix, great drummer.
lol this is so precious! I remember being a long-haired teen metal-head like these guys. Stars in my eyes, nothing in my head. ;) But they made it work for them, and they're still killin' it!
Cool seeing this video of DA when they were young. These guys had talent shining even at that young age. I saw them in concert last year as part of The Bay Strikes Back Tour in San Jose, CA, and they rocked it!
This was really cool ! Thanks ! I was 17 when The Ultra-Violence just blew me away. Raw, their technique. These young guys were my age. Living in Holland but they were like bros. I played the Voracious Souls video over and over and over again on my VHS. Coolest clip ever. Frolic Thru The Park, Act III, they twisted my mind. Awesome albums. One of the best metal bands ever. Raw, progressive, awesome.
@@luiscirca2002 Its just more out front in Thrash. They just seem to have more diversity in that scene. Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Death Angel, Metallica, Anthrax, Sepultura, Hirax and Testament, Havok, and Warbringer for example.
Frolic, Act III, and T. U. V. Were the soundtrack to growing up in my time. I met them in the crowd during Act III tour. Got a backstage pass. My Dad picked me up and made me leave wo going backstage. Boooooooooo.
This video blew me back as of beeing through all the same tough shit. You truely went all the way into becoming my favorit Metal Chuggers of all time. Death Angel You Rock!!!
I remember hearing the name of the band but I never guessed their background. I was reading a magazine about them and wow I was dumbfounded, what an awesome band. Too bad they couldn't stick together with the original lineup, but that's life
Wow, I'm just listening to The Ultra Violence, I haven't heard much about Death Angel, but wow, the drummer andy was only 14 when they made ultra violence, kid has fucking talent. I did hear about the bus accident though in 'Get Thrashed', that's really sad considering they were still pretty young. BTW, they look Filipino, are they?
I remember seeing the video for Bored & an interview from 1988. I did like them But the first tape I bought was Act 3 in 1990. wasn't wild about the Organization. But Glad they reformed in 2006?
I can't tell if Andys shirt says Corona or Coroner. When I was in grade 12,a friend of mine let me borrow The Ultra Violence. This surprised me since he was gay and was really in to Dead Or Alive,New Order,Alien Sex Fiend..
Very thoughtful ideas starting from 1:10. This is actually what is preached by the Church (although not in most of sermons, unfortunately). It's about choosing beetween Heaven and Hell after you die. This idea sounds ridiculous to those who insist that is is God who throws people into Hell with His own hands. The idea is that a person makes this choice after they are confronted with what they've done their whole life.

Well at 10:14 he says he's the senior class president so I'm guessing that's what you're thinking of.
nathan williams south city high???
Lincoln 94 here!
Mark was senior class president at Clayton Valley high school 1986. I was a freshman
"Rockstar" is an insult. But cool story, must have been a great school!
One of best metal debuts ever. Still holds up today against anything.
Agreed.
Due to their age...I also take Forbidden as a successor for Bay Area Thrash debut...
Still underrated thrash band in it's finest, proud Filipino here
Also , one of the best acoustic solos ever (imo) in Room with a View

My old hood Gellert Street, DALY CITY. I used to hear their rehearsals around 84-85 since I only lived a block away.
I still listen to The UltraViolence to this day..

and they're still doing this in their 50s!! Damn! Hats off to them
Its crazy seeing Daly City in '87! That street that they're skating on is right behind where my dad grew up!
yeah looks like its near Gellert park!
I used to go to a club close by top of the hill..thats where I got my first traffic ticket also..down the hill by the Bart station.close to the liquor store

True on that.
