The use of color in her hair and makeup is amazing. This is beyond trends and looks. It shows a unique skill to combine odd colors and making it work. Totally timeless... Some other singers have started switching to stylist but until the mid 80ies most female stars were self styled. The best example for self styled pop singers in Jody Watley in her video for „Real Love“! Absolutely ahead of her time.
You know… I couldn’t agree more. I didn’t nor realize this until recently when I tried to put together a Cyndi Lauper outfit for her Farewell tour. It is NOT easy. She’s a genius in so many ways. ❤
of course she doesn't talk like that, MTV had just came out in the early 80's, this was the first time that record companies could put an image out for an artist and make them out to be anything they wanted. I mean, she was in her 30's when "She's So Unusual" was released . This was before Wiki or any sort of internet, so people only knew what was told or let on about her back than. I think it's amazing how far we have come.
I met her..she does`nt really talk like that btw she`s hot..seriously..she`s older than me and I`m old..she`s really kept her self in shape is very nice and polite..wish I had something more intelligent to say to her than oh..um..I...er...am a really big fan...I had it all rehearsed what I was gonna say to here and it all just came out mush..and I could just tell she`d literally heard it about a million times
@@samir_485 She has a 4 octave voice. She still talks this way to this day, just not all the time. Some days your voice is up, others it's lower, depending on your energy level, mood, what you're talking about, etc. But I've met her as well and seen her live countless times, and have heard her speaking voice be high, low, and everything in between, just like her singing. Accents also pop in and out the same way depending on how you're emphasizing words.
@@DarthMacchio I noticed the variation in her voice as well. On a Johnny Carson interview she went from using a distinctive Queen's NY accent most of the time to sounding somewhat British when singing Time after Time.
Why did Terry say why did you wait 3 years, I mean Time after Time was on the 1983 hit album in UK-She's So Unusual. But Time after Time was released as a single in UK in early 1984 + the next single release from the album in UK was: She Bop in summer of 1984! Also when she said she was doing wrestling as a manager, i mean my uncle knew that and he wasn't into WWF but was advertised loads. Plus she was doing stuff for-The Goonies film in 84/85 which was known about in the UK That always confused me and my cousin when we watched this on TV at the time!
Blame Dave Wolfe, he's the one who pushed her into the WWF stuff which lead to people not taking her seriously. Obviously she's stood the test of time and is well respected. But the wrestling thing was definitely a bad career move, and she only did it because she loved Dave.
I don’t agree. It exposed her to an entire new group of people. She was a character. The wrestling could not be explained. It added to the allure or the zaniness. I actually loved seeing her on Saturday AM wrestling.
Awe, sorry you consider that annoying. I think it's one of her unique qualities that makes her really stand out. I'm a New Yorker too, but my accent is not as strong as hers. I could listen to her all day. Smart, funny, and unique voice.
She was such a little doll, hard not to love her.
The adorable Cyndi Lauper.
She's a one of a kind. Beautiful soul inside and out. Love her!
I Love her smile she is so beautiful.

@@DarthMacchio thank you for the clarification! I have deleted my comment as yours renders it unneeded.

Она очень красивая и стильная! Люблю её.

She should have done stand up.

I had a woman at my old job that talked just like her, I love Cyndi, but that voice, after a while, it gets a bit annoying ya know?
