I’m running a Bravo 1 FS 24.5 on my Pro XS really like how efficient it is getting up and down! Saves time and Gas Money! Good luck this year Hammer!

Been having problems getting on plane with my 18ft with 150 merc couldn’t figure out why turns out the previous owner was running a 24p 4 blade fury prop same as you 😂😂 this helps a lot for me (16) to learn ab props

That first prop and your new boat seem to work great, even from just watching the video.

I agree with your perspective on the 4 blade props....I run a Fury 4 Blade 25 Pitch on a Ranger Z520.....I really like your boat! Thanks for the making the Video..

Great breakdown on how and why, Brian, I saw a guy running a "Sharrow" prop on a bassboat recently with a Merc 300, I am not sure if theyre widely available but that thing lept out of the water from a dig like no boat Ive ever seen before, and turned on a dime out on the lake.Tight lines!

I hear that they are hella expensive tho...

@@johnedwardsjr yeah for sure...I checked their website the other day, custom made specifically for the boat/motor combo, 4000 bucks on average, 4-6 week wait time. You could buy three normal HP props for that, god forbid it every comes off or breaks lol

I agree totally with the 4 blade! Ran a fury 4 blade on my Ranger. Not sure I even lost that much on top end? As you would know, Rangers take a little to get on plane, not with a fury 4 blade. Straight up, then down on plane! Also much steadier on waves like Erie!

Have you tried the Tempest 3 blade 25Pitch? My 21’ Skeeter FXR 21 with 250 sho does not blow out and it sticks well. From what I hear the 25P Tempest performs better on the Sho than the Yamaha props?

  • @Reeds.outdoor.adventures

Was the second sluggish on the holeshot bc of the gap between the lower unit and the prop. Unless these new motor not supposed to be close to flush.

If (grip) or slip is something your after. Jackplate needs to stay in one spot for the tests. I've seen props slip like crazy, drop the motor 1/2" and they hook up like no other. Also a prop slip calculator is a good reference, its a theoretical calculator but it doesnt hurt to know to work on slip. Good luck this year!

The price is completely unreasonable and out of this world absurd, but a Toroidal Propeller (Sharrow prop) would blow all of our traditional props out of the water. Hopefully the prices come down to a reasonable amount, but they are crazy efficient in pretty much every way. But it's literally 10x the cost of a traditional prop.
I'm sure if you have a machinist you know and work with they can cut you one for not too much more than the cost of a traditional prop.

I remember the video you made about building this boat, I didn’t expect that much flake in the ash. If you go with that color scheme again next year would you be willing to do less flake??? I think the matte color scheme like that would be dope with a little flake in it but not a lot,,

first 2 hours the most important
For the First Two Hours of Operation: Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Get the boat on plane, and operate the engine at up to 4500 RPM's (Important: Vary engine RPM's every 2-5 minutes). Run the engine to FULL THROTTLE for 60 seconds once every 10 minutes (approximately).
Additional Recommendation: Though not listed in Owner's Manuals, it is an excellent idea to have the engine make at least two (2) complete HEAT CYCLES during the first 2 hours of operation. A heat cycle consists of: Ambient temp, start engine, come to operating temp, run engine for at least 5 minutes on plane, return to idle, stabilize engine temp, shutdown engine and allow to cool to ambient temp. Note: Heat cycles CAN be done on different days.
For the Next 8 Hours of Operation: Full throttle may continue to be used, but engine RPM's should be varied/changed at least once every 5 minutes.

bravo based props are amazing on bass boats! my basscat with a fury tried to slip on roll over, dropping the motor a 1/2 inch fixed it. need to run the fury a little deeper than the bravo props

What level do you keep your hydraulic jack plate at in order when your slowing down quick the water doesn't backwash into the back deck of the carpet?

    • @BrianLatimerFishing

It varies. I don’t keep it at any point honestly. I move it around for the best performance for the conditions.
