    I can totally imagine a mod where you add a sort of a pistol grip below so you can swoosh the plane while triggering the engines all with one hand.

    May not look the most accurate, but the functions definitely make up for it. The propeller mechanism is both brilliant super effective. Also builds much larger than expected.

    I hope they make more airplanes like this. Maybe even as Creator sets, that would be amazing. The engine mechanism is very nice and you see how it's built too which is a good learning experience.

      @IstasPumaNevada ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope so too. I'd really like a bigger and more detailed model, specifically something like the CL-415 Super Scooper. Two of those came just in time to keep a wildfire from overrunning our town in 2017, and at one point there were four of them flying in a line, dropping water then refueling at a nearby lake.

    The function looks great! It immediately reminded me of the 8232: Chopper Force from my childhood, it contained a virtually identical mechanism. Nice review, as always!

      As much as I would've loved a technic Tomcat or a Super Hornet, Lego don't really like doing military vehicles to say the least. But in general Lego should do more aviation, I'm missing a proper airliner or GA aircraft from lego.

    • @millll111lllI
      @millll111lllI ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jordanruitenschild4683 I agree. Considering what happened to the Lego Osprey, I think modern military aircraft are not happening again. I just want something new that is really detailed, like the 10226 Sopwith Camel was. An airliner would be amazing.

    That propeller mechanism reminds me of the big red helicopter from 4403, there it was even cooler as you could press the sides of the helicopter to make the rotor spin. Also it had the landing gear system much quicker. An amazing set way ahead of its time!

  • @Unbrickme

    Opening these types of boxes with a knife always gives me a strange feeling, since they’re supposed to be opened with your thumbs. I always use my thumbs.
    Don’t take my previous statement too seriously, as I know that you do that to do as little damage to those boxes as possible, but I’m the type of person that never goes against the instructions. The instructions say to open with your thumbs, so that’s how I do it.
    Anyways, I really love this set. Despite me being almost 20, I absolutely LOVE running around really fast with this airplane while pulling the lever to spin the propellers! I felt like a 7 year old kid again and not a lot of technic sets do that these days to me. This set is absolutely fantastic and wonderful!

    Last time you called the ailerons "flaps". You got it right this time. For some reason that makes me for more happy than it should.
    The "elevator" also! Actually, that's a stabilator, but only because it combines the non-moving "horizontal stabiliser" with the elevator. Those aeronautical engineers have a lot of fun with names. Ailerons + flaps = flaperons, elevators + ailerons = elevons, and so on.
    Love your videos!

    Lego has actually made *several* sets in the past with this sort of mechanism. The only times I have ever seen them have a model be “swooshable” and have propellers constantly spin in a single direction was by giving the model a handle and trigger.

    That ratcheting propeller mechanism reminds me of 31011, the Creator 3in1 set called Aviation Adventures, where the tail gear can be pumped back and forth in a similar way to spin the propeller. It's done much more simply than here too where a rubber piece acts like a spring to allow the gears to engage one way but not the other, if I remember correctly.

    we definitely need more aircraft! .. more functions as with the cyclic in the rescue 'copter a plane with yoke controlling flaps, ailerons etc. Maybe a fighter jet, old style sweep wing F14 or cool looking typhoon / F35. Airliners like concorde or old miliary 4-engine bombers. Maybe even a titanic-sized aircraft carrier with small jets.

    I think something interesting can be found in comparing this set to the old Black Hawk (8425) which I was lucky to own once (I'm certain I could still rebuild it, perhaps getting a few replacement pieces from bricklink) - both are two engine turboprop aircraft with comparable functions (running propellers, deployable landing gear, movable flight surfaces). I think Technic went a little astray by relying so much on panelling. The old set used old style technic beams, which were basically System beams but with added pin/axle holes and left large chunks portions of the mechanics visible which was in my opinion super cool and, while I understand the desire to differentiate Technic experience from System experience, I think building with more typical brickbuild techniques was actually more fun that the current approach of using large panels and covering everything.

    this is clearly based on one of the Q family of aircraft likely a Q300 so props should turn in the same direction. also the gear not lifting the aircraft would be realistic. IF some how you sat any aircarft on its belly and tryed extend the gear it would fail. fixing the prop direction would be easy by just flipping one gear sets around.
