Both basses are fantastic. But the 2nd Gen is much more refined and you can really hear the difference. Sire basses just blow me away how good they are and for their price range.

Thanks for these videos. Explains a lot as I ordered a V7 vintage right before they announced 2nd gen. Great instrument! Mine is actually a hybrid since I have a V2 headstock and neck but a V1 body and electronics. That's why my fret edges are nice and rounded.

I finally bought A swamp ash/maple V7 vintage 2nd gen. I have several other really nice ( and more expensive) J basses inthat same family . I feel like I can sell all of them now because this one sounds and plays so much better. I did change the tuners and installed a Gotoh Quick release bridge. I could not be happier. Thanks for the great review.

I bought my Sire V7 on October 9th 2017 from Thomann and it's a 1st generation, but it looks exactly like the first one that you play, except it's an Alder body, Rosewood fretboard and 2(!) separate 9 volt compartments in the back. The 2nd has a single battery compartment. Maybe it's a transitional model between the 1st and 2nd? In any case, it sounds fantastic and like your 2nd one here. Thanks for the great video!
