I watched Lanny do an exhibition with Arnie back in roughly 1978 in Spartanburg, SC. On the first hole which was a dogleg right, Lanny tried to drive the fairway bunker on the right where the fairway turned right. He didn’t quite make it and ended up with a horrible hanging lie with the ball about knee high. He chokes down on a mid iron, faded it around the corner and put the ball three feet from the hole. I’ve been watching professional golf for over 50 years and to this day, I remember this shot like it was yesterday. It was an amazing thing to see in person. Lanny has been a great ambassador for the game. Thanks for the memories Lanny.
Lanny, thank you for playing the Buick open all those years. I enjoyed watching u play there. U r truly a legend, u don’t look the same without the necklace though 😄
Loved watching him play. He had so much game & charisma. When he was hot he could really go low and was tough to beat. As was the case with a lot of players back in those days, he had some unique aspects to his golf swing.
im curious that Lanny says he was hoping jack missed his putt on 18 at the pga so he didnt have to play him the following day for another 18 hole match yet obviously Gene Littler ties Lanny and they go 3 holes sudden death..why didnt they play an 18 hole match the following day like he would have if Jack made his putt on 18 to tie him?
he was just emphasizing how unaware he was of the new sudden death play off format....if Nicklaus had sunk his putt...he too would have been in the sudden death play off with Littler and Wadkins

Trevino tells a great story about playing floyd in a money game in texas before anybody knew about trevino
How disrespectful of the modern players to ignore Lanny and those great champions at The Ryder Cup
