    Golf just takes too long if you tune in from hole one. In the old days you only had 9 or less holes to watch. As a die hard golf fan I don’t want to go back to that but it might be better for the average viewer to show less.

    I'm 67, playing now for 33 years and, i'll watch content creators over the PGA anytime. Without Tiger the tour is dead. Now, there's a young man who made it to the PGA tour this year by winning on the Korn ferry Tour.....he's going to be a big star and i'll be watching...his name is Karl Villips....keep an eye out for him. For now, i'll watch you tube golf.

    I’m seriously thinking of dropping the golf channel. Current coverage is terrible. I don’t need someone’s opinion of a shot. Just describe the shot. We end up not watching the PGA, but we do watch the LPGA as they tend to be better golfers, just not as powerful. We also watch collegiate golf, otherwise the golf channel is a waste for us. I will always watch the masters, and Ryder cup or any game Deschambeau or Rahm are playing in. There are a few others, but I’m done with Tiger, Rory, and a few others.i just don’t think they’ve been good for golf, ratings or viewership. Added: the LPGA coverage is closer to the golden age of golf. Jack, Arnold, Lee, Sam, Gary, Tom and a few others. I think they are driving away the average viewer from the PGA.

    Any more news about the PIP or LIV will continue to drive me away from watching golf. My biggest problem with TV golf is the commentators believe they are the show. I don't want to see them, and they should say little in the background. I also believe caddies should stay off the greens as much as possible. No more green readings and holding their fingers up and walking along the line of the putt. Time consuming and boring.

    I’m hoping that when PIP and PGA come together they can come up with new state of the art technology that will be less boring to watch. A change of 72 holes stroke play every week getting changed to match play, Stableford to mix things up.

    Yes there’s trouble. LIv imo is growing despite making it seem like a sin to watch it. But the establishment golf refuses to modernize. And it’s a big big problem the snail pace. They don’t seem willing to change the things that matter. Walk and talks are not a solution. Going for it graphics on glorified par 3s drives able par 4s is not a solution. The need more shots and less commercials. And less boring conversations between the announcers. Gotta go.

  • @Noeau
    @Noeau 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    As a fan, I tune in when my favorite player or players are in contention. If not, I don’t watch. I’m not interested in watching no name players compete. Thats just me. The exception is the majors. In nfl, you’re watching your favorite team or player and not watching a game where you have no team or player interest. So pga is so diluted with so much tournaments with less big names playing that it loses interest. Liv has my favorite player or big name player playing every event and usually in contention so I tune in. Throw in the team aspect, it makes the outcomes more interesting to watch. I don’t care about how much money they make or the different format, or moral issues. I’m interested in the golf competition. The mainstream golf channel does heavily make this an issue which is a major turn off and makes them more unlikeable and unwatchable.

    To analyze these sports you need to take into account things like cable versus network, exclusivity versus non-exclusivity if games are on RSNs, the impact of weather delays, etc. Golf gets hit hard with these huge weather delays that push games to Golf Channel. And in weeks where tournaments compete directly with something like March Madness it is also a killer.

    The reasons Matt gave as to why the PGA players bolted from PGA of America to form their own PGA Tour in the 60’s sounded like the reasons why LIv players left the PGA Tour to join LIV Tour. It seems they left more because they were disgruntled with how the PGA wasn’t representing them fairly and just so happened, in this day and age, big money created the impetus for them to leave. Imagine if back then, the PGA of America said to the new PGA Tour players, fine, make your own league but you won’t be able to play in our PGA Championship (Major] and Ryder cup like what PGA Tour did to the Liv players.

    Wrong...PGA is an American golf tour played only in America for the benefit of American fans and viewers and American market as the target...even if there are golfers from all over the world, it is only because the PGA wants to better their product...but again, for the benefit of Americans! Look how American golf commentators like yourself, criticize and openly declare not watching it because of the times it's played and televised. America is not the center of the world hey...the number of golf fans and followers in the rest of the world is way bigger than those in America. But that explains why you guys think nobody is watching LIV....in South Africa and Australia alone you have 4 million+ watching! If LIV somehow "merge" with PGA (which I highly doubt)...golf will lose this follower for sure!

    @calross7143 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Us LIV supporters would rather see a LIV team taking on, and wiping the floor with the USA PGA Ryder Cup team, the European Ryder Cup team and the International team of the Presidents Cup. Why do the USA and European team get an option to pick from a tour they are opposed to...until they need golfers from that tour to win! Why should LIV golfers validate the team competitions by allowing 1 or 2/3 players to join their judges on the opposition tours...? The USA looks to benefit only American fans and viewers and get to play in a team competition end of every year (Ryder Cup against Europe and then against International year). Add a LIV team and with 4 teams alternating, there can be a team competition end of every year with all 4 teams competing. But I guess the PGA and DP Tour wouldn't want to take the risk to lose yet another thing against LIV... team golf! 2024 LIV team: (1) Jon Rahm; (2) Joaquin Niemann; (3) Sergio Garcia; (4) Tyrrell Hatton; (5) Brooks Koepka; (6) Louis Oosthuizen; (7) Cameron Smith; (8) Bryson De Chambeau; (9) Dean Burmester; (10) Taylor Gooch; (11) Paul Casey; (12) Abraham Ancer. Pick the USA, European and International teams to take them on in a team competition. I would love to see the 12 top LIV golfers every year wipe the floor with the top 12 of the PGA, DP Tour and International teams....

    This event and win felt more genuine without Speith, JT and Rickie on the team where the last team was formed by cliques and favoritism. With that issue hanging over their heads, it seemed like it was an underlying distraction and every time they failed, it was more scrutinized. The hat issue was another distraction. This week was drama free within the team which allowed them to play more free. Lastly, Matt asked why is it so lopsided when you have the best players in the world playing, but that’s false because the Liv players are not included from both sides.

    It was fun to watch and the play on both sides was really great at times. Again, LIV devastates the depth of the INT team. This won’t get fixed with the best INT LIV players out.

  • @oahujuniorgolfassociationc6656
    @oahujuniorgolfassociationc6656 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Few takes: People just look at scoreboards and make judgments. Or maybe highlights. Having watched the whole thing this was closer than it looks. USA barely won most of the matches day 1. The INTs dominated session 2, winning quite big most matches. Saturday both sessions were competitive, could have easily been a tie, but both sessions ended 3-1 thanks to some late heroics from team USA. If it was a little closer who knows what happens in singles. Great point about Payne. Tom Kim made a mistake with the cussing comment but overall he is working hard to instill passion into his team. I appreciate whatever he is doing. That being said he may be wearing himself and his partners out. The US teams did well to stay in their bubbles, save their energy. Guys like Adam and Hideki and conners need to make more putts. Scottie couldn’t make a putt recently but found a way to improve. The internationals need that from their top guys if they will continue to play these things. IMO the captains both did solid jobs. Jim clearly has learned a lot and it showed. Mike I appreciated rolling with the guys that showed up Friday. Maybe he could have made a change or two but I can’t blame him for what he did. Dropping it to 28 points total like the Ryder cup could help. But imo it’s only a matter of time before INT win one, become more competitive, and eventually maybe even dominating considering they have the whole world to pick from. The event is a reflection of where the sport is as it continues to grow and evolve internationally. Which is that international golf still has a lot of room for growth. But they have also come a long way. I think everyone attending or watching got a lot of joy from this. I enjoyed it, big picture aside it’s fun seeing if certain guys could beat certain guys. That being said like many fans I expect to see the true top 12 for each team. And not this closed shop qualifying system. The Ryder cup is making those changes, the presidents cup needs that even more.

    *You don't measure the age or longevity of these elite golfers by their real age in years, but by how long they've been playing golf - there are other players on the LPGA Tour (apart from Lydia) who started playing golf when they were 5 years old. *Lydia Ko first won on the LPGA Tour at the age of 15, so in terms of LPGA golf careers she's an 'old lady'😀, bearing in mind she's now 27. So, even in terms of her actual age she's among the older bracket of LPGA Tour players now. *Furthermore, she's a 'nominal' New Zealander only these days - the only reason she hasn't changed her nationality to Korean yet is because she had an 'open entry' to the Olympic Games as a ' New Zealander', whereas if she'd been a Korean national she wouldn't have even made the 2024 Korean Olympic team. *Lydia hasn't lived in NZ for a very long time & owns no property there, her family moved to Korea long ago, & the 'umbilical cord' linking her to NZ is 'elastic' & flimsy . But she does have some readily discernible 'Kiwi' traits, which are no doubt defining elements (some of those Matt points to) of her as a person & as a successful sportswoman. - The Birdie.
