    My groomer wanted us to bring our new Bernedoodle in for just a bath so he could get used to her and the experience! He did great! So glad she suggested it! Now he will be on the same schedule as our cavapoo for there grooming !

    Despite a lot of effort my yorkie still became reactive. Couldve been due to poor genetics but also her crucial 6-12wks was with a different owner where she was confined to a cat carrier 24/7. Hopefully my efforts will help my next dog.
    Although doing things like this still helped my current dog tremendously. As a puppy she would redirect if over aroused and start attacking me. Now she sometimes just gets into a barking fit but most walks thats just the 2 of us now shes almost perfect. She has also improved so much when walking with my brothers 2 big dogs.

      We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances your Yorkie had to go through. It is good to hear that you were able to do some of the things we've listed in this video!

      I got my little Havanese at 15 weeks. His breeder had him in a facility with cement floors. There were lots of blankets and toys, and he was very well handled, but only taken outside once for a photo shoot. Getting him used to things like wind, dirt, rocks, and grass took a lot of time and work. It really opened my eyes to how important that 6-12 week period is. He's a year and a half old now and doing much better now. He's still shy with new people, animals, and places, but not too scared to accept treats and chin scratches. I can't imagine how much worse it could've been if he'd been confined to a crate! Good luck to you, and I hope your little one continues to learn to feel safe.

    Piggybacking on her grooming tip: Don’t forget to desensitize to nail clipping, having paws held and manipulated, ear cleaning and having human fingers in their mouth. Helps a lot with vet visits later on :)

    Thank you. I’m working on overcoming trauma my little 2lb 9oz maltipoo Winston (winnie) had before we got him. He is the runt of three that I saw It has it’s own issues being so tiny.He is smart . He freaked out when I introduced a brush and when I turned the razor on really freaked. I’m just getting him used to being around them but I’m not forcing him. I brush my hair then brush him gently so he’s getting better.
    My sons 6 yr old shihpoo who I raised and trained wanted nothing to do with Winnie. Runs from him. I have to keep winnie on a leash under control because he wants to jump on the shihpoo we’re working on incorporating winnie into her life slowly. She doesn’t live at my house anymore but I see her a lot.
    Thank you working on improving things. Winnie has playpens and crates in the house so a fight won’t ensue before winnie is welcomed by berklee the shihpoo.
    I’m sorry winnie feels so rejected.

      It sounds like you are working hard. Have you seen this video on brushing and grooming? It might help you with Winnie's reaction to the brush. Sometimes it's hard to take it slow but that's what our dog needs. We hope you can help Winnie and Berklee get along! th-cam.com/video/XdDIbb_Z0Mg/w-d-xo.html

    What do you suggest for a dog that gets car sick? 19 months old

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The equilibrium of most puppies isn't fully developed until about a year old. Keeping your pup in a covered crate during a car ride really helps cut down on car sickness. By using a covered crate, or covering a wired one, you will help to decrease the stimuli rapidly passing by outside of the car, which can overwhelm a pup. The crate will help keep them from moving around too much. The more your pup paces, circles and stands, all while trying to keep their balance, the more car sick they could become.
      Withhold treats or food before car rides as best you can. You might also put something for them to chew in the crate so that they can redirect their attention even just a little. Most pups outgrow car sickness by 8 to 12 months, some sooner than others.
