@@JangoMike Carl was one of my best buddies when i lived in ny. I helped him pick out the wood for Claypool’s Rainbow Bass. We had many amazing adventures. He is a man of great principle.

Thats awesome! I love Carl. He really is a remarkable person. I went to NY this year to visit him for his birthday with a bunch of us CT Bros. We surprised him. Have you spoken to him recently? Here is the Video from his Birthday Bash th-cam.com/video/ZXckpUcGzdw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LKvd7GlyIeLItH6o

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Im a big fan of Carls work and his former workers as well. Ive bought sold & traded dozens over the years from them but these are my core 4 at the moment. Carl and his boys can sure make a damn fine instrument! Cheers 😎🎸🎣🎶🎵

I'm not keen on slap bass, and despite seeing them live, Primus aren't really my thing (although I appreciate the talent). All told, I really enjoyed this. Ace tutorial and gorgeous CT tone. Thanks bro, well done 👍

Semper fi, brother! I started playing bass again as an antidote to the horror of war. I see you have several CT basses, I've been trying for years to get on the build list!!

What up brutha! Glad you made it home. Have you spoken to Carl yet?

@JangoMike I've exchanged emails with "a friend of Carl's" who was "helping with the books". Said he opens the books every so often and put me on a list. So I went with another luthier called beardly custom bass and he's building me a bass. I'm always interested to hear people's experiences with not just CT, but with any custom builders. I appreciate you reaching out, thank you for your service!

I know Rick of Beardly very well. We talk everyday. Lol Hes a great builder! You will be very happy with a Beardly. I had a 6 string fretless Beardly for a bit with a Nordy pick up. The thing played great and sounded good. If you ever get a chance to go see Carl at his shop, do it!

@JangoMike What came of your beardly bass?
I'd been talking to Rick Link over a year before I finally placed my order. He's a good dude, I haven't seen any complaints from anyone.
Next time I visit socal I will see about stopping over to CT's shop.

Sadly, had some stuff come up & needed to raise some cash. I loved that Bass tho! Carls shop is actually in Brooklyn NY. Pete Hilton (one of carls former workers) has his shop in Los Angeles. If you come by SoCal ill run ya up there & we can jam 🎸🎣🎵🎶

@sketchesforyou8020 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I dont want to bump the comment you posted on, but i def disagree that the dude was def being rude. 100% no one would ever talk to me that way in person. All good tho! Lets focus on the Good stuff! I appreciate you!

By minute one you got a like for not being into a lot of social media, just putting it out there into the ether. By minute two you got a subscriber. Drummer/ Military escapades/ Bass player later in life that's me! That's probably why I'm seeing this video a year after you posted it. Anyways, great job, keep it up! I'll keep watching, maybe I'll post a video one day. Just got to find the confidence. What takes more for you, the stage or getting behind the camera?

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hell Yeaaahhhh!!! Thank you! Welcome to the Madness! Def would encourage you to bust out some videos too. Its a good way and good excuse to keep your chops up and work on something. To me, nothing beats playing live on stage but doing videos and/or recording in general is still fun and an art of its own. I just cant sit still and need to constantly be doing something

    • @TheManwithX-RayEyes

@JangoMike I feel you, I can't sit still either. I have to be learning something. "How to" stays in my search bar on TH-cam. That's how I ended up here. 🤣 Not yet a Les Claypool expert, but with this, I'm on my way to incorporating some of his style into my own music. Thanks again!

Carl makes a damn fine Bass!!!!! ive had about a dozen over the years but currently at the moment have a 2015 Custom "Frills" CT & an all original 1977 CT. The other 2 Basses in this video are "Hilton" Basses made by Pete Hilton. Pete workrd with Carl Thompson for about 11 years before striking out on his own and making his own Basses. They are VEERRRYYYYY much CT worthy tho

Of course the biggest cry babies never have their own content.... 30 secs for the intro, 1 min to explain the difference between Les's technique and Victor Wooten, then at 2 mins 30 secs i explain the technique & demo....id love to see your video on how its done since you are so dissatisfied with mine

@@JangoMikeHe wasn’t that rude about it, he was just expressing his opinion about your intro. Sure, it wasn’t 5 minutes, but it was a little long. It was a good tutorial nonetheless.
