      Nah. Im good! You really should be focused and worried about your own music & life. I watched your videos & I hope everyone who reads your comment does too cuz the correlation between people who talk shit and their own failures is quite compelling . . .

    Hey man, great video! I'm a huge Primus fan but am struggling to find whole bands that cover their songs, not just individual instrument covers. Was wondering if you could share some of that Mr. Krinkle stuff, that'd be sick.
    Cheers bro

    SUPER jealous that bass is just your ''fun'' instrument and you are rocking a Carl Thompson! I'd give my left leg for one of those!

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey thanks for commenting! Perhaps I should reiterate it a lil more. Yes, I consider Bass a more "Fun" aspect of my music, but i truly love and respect the work I do as well. I do take my work as a Bass player very serious, but my approach is more "Fun" and happy. See, i grew up playing drums/percussion. It was very proper, formal and stringent. I did school band, lessons, jazz ensembles, drum corp and stuff like that. So I always felt very structured and strict, which is a different path and feeling then how I learned Bass. With Bass, i said screw the formalities and went straight to the fun stuff and tunes i wanted to jam. Does that make sense?

      Hey brutha! Sorry for the delay. Been out of town. So the camera I use is a fairly old one, but was waayyy ahead of its time as far being able to record and capture amazing audio. It has a mounted shot gun mic, that really kicks ass and records it in high quality. Just talking and playing to the room by itself is THE ONLY way i capture this stuff like this. Sadly, this camera came out before the era of TH-camrs, and thus was discontinued, but it was the Sony HXR MC50 .... which t ome, is PERFECT for quality and simple self production stuff.....

      Your video makes me excited, because I have my own CT custom on order right now. :) What is the quality of the build and playability compared to other basses you have played?

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Quentin Hunt Dude!!! First off, congrats on the CT Bass!!! You are one of the last few who will own these because as you know, Carl is gonna stop very soon. As far as quality and playability, there is NOTHING that even comes close to how it feels and plays. Ive played every kind of "Bad ass" bass you can think of, vintge, new, and nothign sounds and feels like a CT. You can literally feel the energy of greatness that resonates off of it knowing that CT has literally put his blood, sweat and tears into making this work of art. Ive had people come up to me, who don't even know who or what a Carl Thompson is and literally tell me how amazing the Bass not only sounds, but looks and feels. I also let people noodle and play it when its appropriate at certain gigs. Welcome to the Family brutha!!!!

      JangoMike I'm a really young dude and have worked with symphonies and have had a potential to join a few "famed" underground bands, but whenever I talk to Carl Thompson I always get nervous as though I'm not worthy of his craftsmanship. Since becoming his client, I've felt very honored and have had a new energy installed into me and I say to myself "Well shit, I better prove that I deserve this instrument."
      You explain the quality in such a way that emphasizes that I better prove my worth. Haha. It will take a long time, but I'll definitely still be around to post demos, gigs, and what-not for when it is finally in my hands. :)

    where can you buy ct basses and how mutch do they cost?

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +thomassegaert Excellent question!!!! You know, Carl is getting ready to retire and stop making Basses. He no longer accepts custom orders at this point. He is working on about a dozen or so Basses at the moment that will be No Frills as is. Assuming there are some left, you may be able to buy one of those. Expect to shell out a few thousand dollars as well..... Your best bet is to contact the admin of his website to get into contact with Carl. Its sort of like trying to find Hatori Hanzo.... Good luck my man ;)

      JangoMike thanks for the quick reply! what about second hand basses?

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +thomassegaert There are some guys out there who make Carl Thompson tribute basses. I see one on Ebay right now for about 2 thousand dollars. However, if you check in on the website every so often, you will see one for sale.

      JangoMike thanks, man, i'll look into it. I'm not from the USA tho, so those ebay offers won't do me mutch

    • @JangoMike

      +thomassegaert You might want to check their website directly. There are some international artist who buy from him all the time.

    Are the really worth all that money or is it just cause les plays one?

    • @JangoMike
      @JangoMike  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jesse Gonzalez Les Claypool has nothing to do with what makes Carls Basses superior than any other instrument on the planet. No Basses come close.

      Depends on if you are the kind of person who believes in TONE WOODS. From what I understand there is a hat company that makes bass guitars that injects their wood with tone gnomes that play magical tuning forks on a microscopic level.
      Seriously though these basses are 100% hand made except the hardware and even then Carl's family will make you a wooden bridge if you want one. They do not use routers to round out the edges. No CNC machines..... everything is made using old techniques. That's just part of it..... playing a Carl Thompson bass the first time for me was unimpressive UNTIL 5 minutes later when I felt it pulling me back to play it over and over again even in my sleep. They are perfectly balanced so you really don't have the same type of fatigue as with other instruments. If you buy ANY Carl Thompson bass you will understand the magic. It is not just art or as some people say "furniture"..... Carl's family puts out the best basses on the planet in my opinion. When it comes down to basics I believe there is no price that you can put on an instrument that makes you want to play more and become a better musician.
