I'm a 21 year old Los Angeleno who lives in an apartment on sunset less than 400 Sq feet big.. I love these "rambling" videos and listen to them during my commute. Please keep making them!!
Your a very lucky man to have found a lady who is simple and enjoys the minimalist lifestyle. In my experience (Almost 60 years) Never have I found one who wants to keep it simple, They all say they do but when it comes right down to it, They dont! Its never enough, so congrats on your lifestyle!
Love your videos, your family, your chickens, your wife's cooking, to see your garden grow, the deer and most of all your stories and everything I get to see and experience when I watch you on your homestead. Y'all are so blessed! ...Linda
OMGosh, you're so thoughtful, kind & aware. Waking up in different ways thru the eyes of your beautiful bride, ia ao romantic & sweet. Your place is awesome & beautifully kept. So much so, even the animals can feel the love, appreciation & care you pour into it. I'm a Grandmother, reminiscing about the bygone days when my now deceased husband & I poured the love into our little homestead too. Much smaller than yours but full of wildlife, gardens & love. Would love knowing how you got to be so aware of environmental health & sustainability, with a military background. You mentioned the non-toxic deer repellent & spoke of Monsanto with disdain. How'd you get to that caring point? I'm having fun following you & your sweet little family. Never have done this before. It's sort of a treat to listen to a man like you. You're a great & rare steward of your land. Much love!
I love your family and look forward every day for your stories. U are a great person who served your country and u deserve the best. I love your property
Do you mean like a farm for the animals, create a mini farm? Yeah, then you could have folk stay for a weekend in a cabin/yurt to enjoy your land/animals and fishing. We listen cause your natural and true, and a good man with GREAT VALUES !!!
I enjoy your authenticity and the experiential wisdom you pass along in your stories. I also really respect how humble you are when it comes to something you don't know much about. Looking forward to the work story when you can tell it; I'm sure it will feel pretty darn therapeutic to share it.
Jason I read your comment it was very sweet and nice if anybody deserves a GoFundMe page it's him I don't know how to do it I'm not really computer savvy but just by your comments and seems like you are the GoFundMe page will be just until he gets on his feet with his goats or sheep but everybody can afford 10-20 $30 to send them just until he can get started thank you Sharon
I worked 3 yrs at WalMart...2nd shift. Didn't have much time for grandson who started school. Boss said he would change me to 4 days, like I asked for. Months later I had to change my schedule to 0 hours. Work at a school now.. see my grandson more.☺
Okay, I'm new here and I quickly subscribed and I'm not even halfway through and I had to stop and comment how much I love love this video. I'm so glad the way you love animals and respect them and I agree with you with everything you've said. I commend you on everything and can't wait for more blessings from Alabama!!
Over here in north-west England we occasionally get buzzards coming down from northern highlands, just circling round on the updraughts, majestic birds!
P.s Maybe growing some plants that you can steam distill to make essential oils from, its a very lucrative way to make money, and as an aromatherapist and beauty therapist, its hard to find organic pure essential oils, Maybe its an idea for you and your wife to get into......the power of plants is amazing. xxxx
You asked what brings people to your channel? For me, it's that you look like my Uncle Pat. He was a Green Beret Special Forces, retired Command Sargent Major. He passed away and I miss him. Also, I live in the country in Arkansas on about 7 1/2 acres with another house just down the road with another 2 1/2 acres. I'm curious to see what all you do with your (6-acre?) homestead. I might get some good ideas. Yes, your videos are a little long by internet standards, but you're real and that's refreshing. I'd spend way more time than that talking with my Uncle Pat if he were still around. Btw, thank you for your service. My husband served overseas and I know how hard that can be on service personel and their families.
FYI...I used to work for a company that had put up 10 ft fences around the property. We were out in the country & inside the fence was an animal protected area where it was illegal to shoot the animals. We had dozens of deer that jumped our fence & made our property their home. They would even walk up to the fence & appeared to be laughing at the cars that drove by. They seemed to know that they were safe on our property. My point, when you set up your animal haven, the animals especially the deer will know that they are SAFE while on your property & probably won't venture beyond your property lines so your neighbors won't have the opportunity to shoot them on their property!!! Still, you may need to be prepared for the humans who will see your property as a good place to hunt & you may need to be more diligent in having your property posted for NO HUNTING!!! Humans can be the nastiest animal on the planet!!!
What a lovely, serene homestead. Just listening to you talk of the wild life and your plans for more farm animals, I feel very happy for you and your family and wish you all the very best.
I love hearing you talk! Feels like I'm just sitting on your homestead and sitting across from you and listening to you. Because I teach - I'm usually the one talking all the time. So...it's fun listening to you talk - and I just LISTEN!
I love hearing about your thoughts. I too, worked were you worked. I know how it was. Sounds much worse now though. You are wonderful human being. Thank you.
My husband and self love listening to your stories it's like we can't wait for the next episode to see what's going on thank for sharing. Also I can't wait to hear more ghost stories hopefully you'll share more soon. Y'all are awesome!
What brought me in was one day I opened up TH-cam and saw one of your videos in the assortment of videos to watch. I enjoy your stories, working in the garden, your family life, how you view life and got hooked. I am guessing you work with Amazon and I will keep watching to find out in 9 days.
GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. I REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO YOU. HERE IN S.C. WE HAVE POPLAR TREES AND THEY ARE CALLED TULIP POPLARS . THE SHAPE OF THE LEAVES RESEMBLE TULIPS AND THEY PRODUCE A WOODY FLOWER THAT RESEMBLES A TULIP. BEAUTIFUL TREES. NOW I CAN TURN THE LEAF AND IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE A T-SHIRT. THAT WAS A SWEET STORY. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
I found your channel through the crayon video, it was recommended to me. I am so glad I did and I subscribed immediately. I love your videos and you sharing your beautiful home and family life. I think you are doing what's right with your job situation and that you will be much happier. I wish you all the luck to you and your family.
Why we/I subscribe. Your struggles are representative of all of lifes difficulties. Wether You are talking about the job, the neighbors or all the critters You encounter. You approach these struggles with compassion logic and an open mind. I thank you for being willing to share with us. It is a pleasure to view the suggestions of your awesome subscribers and you being the intelligent and hard working man you are. you are able to sift out what works for you and your family and become the person God intended you to be. Again better man than i.. when I got to that point . I gave the old.. too day notice... I quit today..& walk away.. You have calmed your mind & heart down from your service to our country. Do what ever it takes to keep you there.. long term, that helps you & your family. Stay positive, law of attraction my friend.. Love hearing your stories. So such a great speaker. Your wife is such a sweetheart! T-shirts who knew.? That is so cool and true!! She stops and smells the roses! Attention to detail is something we all forget to do.This world is moving so fast. I need to slow down and appreciate what's right in front me! Thanks for sharing your family's story. Love these talks!! 😁
I'm a new subscriber from Alabama. I am just getting to know you all. I want to encourage you by telling you that I think if this world had more people as wonderful and kind as you and your wife it would be a better place. Thank you so much for sharing ☺
As to why I'm here, your annoying neighbor/crayon vid popped up on my feed the other day and I clicked on it. It was titled really well and peaked my interest; that is how I found your channel. I subbed because you are an interesting & thoughtful guy that communicates well with a gorgeous homestead that you obviously not only love but respect as well. And you have an excellent view on life in general, imo. I'm happy to be here and thank you for sharing these little parts of your life!
We had some'a those 'wild parakeets' here in Warren County, NC back in the early-mid 70's. I moved away for several decades; and I've moved back but don't see 'em anymore. And I hope it's okay that I call you Brother, because I truly like, appreciate, and relate to your outlook on Life.
Hi! I'm one of your new subscribers and a big part of why I subbed is because of your attitude toward the wildlife. I'm sure some of the deer will be shot during hunting season, but they do need to be culled somewhat, at least here in Texas they do, or the population suffers when food is short. I fully understand you not wanting to hunt, but don't feel too bad that others will. Also, I love your family! You are all so sweet I have been enjoying watching some of your past videos. All the cooking videos I've seen so far look sooo good, can't wait to get over this bug I have so I can eat good again.
I used to feed Golden Finches with thistle seed, loved seeing them. I've been listening to you early in the mornings at my job, thanks for making my job suck a little less! haha -Wishing you the best from Pennsylvania brother. BTW you may already know but tulip poplar are good trees to hunt around for morel mushrooms when they are in season provided the conditions are right.
Oh wow! I told my husband that we would plant things for the deer and I wanted to hang bird cages (no doors) to the trees to feed the birds and squirrels and many other things for wild life. You just became one of the most beautiful souls that we have ever seen. God bless you, your family, your wildlife and your homestead.
I think you're doing the right thing, Kevin. You seem like a very smart guy. A great family man and husband, and what you said today about not hurting the animals on your property really made my day. That job, you won't ever regret leaving. I'm a bit older than you, my daughter is your age, lol, so I have a bit of wisdom, and I never regretted leaving jobs I wasn't happy at. God bless you all, and have a great day!
9 days is nothing compared to what you’ve been through. Leave on a good note by doing the right thing. You will be much happier you did. Don’t stoop to their level. Thanks for sharing!
I worked for the Usps for 11 years , 2005 - 2016 . I understand your frustration. I had already retired from another career ( 30 years ) when I went to work there , therefore I had a solid parachute. I have never regretted retiring / leaving ...love your vids .
Trying those ribs tomorrow . We are having great bbq weather here in beautiful bc, canada on the west coast. Very hot 39c. Your videos are very relaxing.
I love your tangents & stories. You tell me things I have never heard of or seen or even known of and I like that. By the way, as one crazy to another listen to the animals. I totally agree with what you plan on your homestead it sounds sooo good. Just keep living the way YOU (& your family) want, that's all that matters. Although there was a bee hive suggestion down below that I agree you should check out. My nephew is trying that on his land down here in Florida. Enjoy your cuddle time.
Thank You for sharing those stories, I understand about the job, I suffered serious injury thru a company merger, only to realize, it was Constructive Dismissal, after the fact & am grudgingly being compensated till retirement. I appreciate your duty to the company, and I doubt you need to be reminded of looking out for yourself & family first as well as the too few co-workers, during this short interval. I find your ability to observe refreshing, for me you look a little like a younger Dennis Hopper & appreciate your buddies calling you crazy. They're plenty of good stories to come in due course. If you are a Veteran, Thank You for your service, Sir. I also have sleep apnea, & complaining to my doc about qualities of sleep, he said no one sleeps as well as a newborn baby, and it naturally deteriorates with age & daily stress levels. Again Thanks for the video.
Hallo , my dears! I am so absolutely amazed that you have this outlook on life!😀😊 Really fudging wonderful to hear your views on 'live and let live', and also your incredible understanding of the land that you're living on!😊👍👍👍 All love, and best wishes to you all, Claire, Sally and Zora ( 2 older Goldies ), Berlin 😘 😘 😘 ✌ 👍 👍 👍
You're a warrior. You will see out those two weeks, no problem. Love your vids. I'm English and my partner is also pinoy. She can't come to UK so we bought a house for our future in Bulgaria.
I’m not too much of a softie- but.... your story about your wife’s view of things was so beautiful- thanks for sharing that! Helped remind me of how much I take for granted and the silly things that I allow to upset me. Appreciate you and your family! Good luck with job/9 days.
I like listening to these talks. Helps me find a part of myself that feels more grounded to something genuine. I appreciate that you share with us your journey. You're someone I look up to. And hello to your family!!! :) Regards from the Philippines!!
The video that came up in my feed was How To Get Rid Of A Neighbor With A Crayon. I watched it and subscribed. Love this channel although I’m not a homesteader. I have great respect for military and people who work hard.
Vultures are fantastic birds -they are an incredible part of the ecosystem. We farm in Virginia (200 beef cows; heritage turkeys and meat chickens small scale for our family)- the vultures help keep the farm clean. We appreciate them!
Deep down, there are thousands of people that wish whey could have a place like yours. 30 years ago when I was a kid, kids wanted to be an Astronaut. Now we are all grown up and see the world in a different perspective. Following you and your family on youtube is like medicine on a screen. :)I like the idea of having an area just for the wildlife, I live in an area where we get deer that come through our neighborhood and when we see them, it is so peaceful. The animals can sense your intentions, and yours are good.Keep up the good work and why not setup a Patreon account. I am sure people would love to support your youtube channel with more than just likes and subscribing. God will always provide.
You are an amazing person. I love your thinking and heart. The animals know your heart, that's why they don't run from you. My neighbor calls me Snow White because the animals hang out with me. It freaks my neighbor out. lol Animals feel energy, good and bad. They know you are good. I wish you and your family all the best.
New sub here. Your video about the neighbor and crayon just popped up in recommendations about a week ago. Didn't seem like something I would be interested in so I didn't click on it. I mostly watch RV/nomad videos. But then this one seemed to pop up for no reason and made me curious. I clicked without looking at the length. Usually I wouldn't click on one so long but I must say that your rambling was kind of captivating! I agree with your ideas about wildlife so guess I have to go and binge the rest of your videos. Looking forward to getting to know more about your sweet family. Curious how videos/channels are promoted??? oops just remembered it was the fly, penny, bag video that I first clicked on! Going to try that for sure!
We're glad you're here and thanks for letting us know how you came to be here. I still have no clue how all this TH-cam thing works. I have a three dollar camera from the thrift store and I just talk at it. LOL.
There's a great book called "The Good Life" that talks about a couple who lived independently off their land for over 40 years. It's a great read about how they went about building up their homestead. Good luck!
Your wife has the eyes of a child discovering all anew. What a gift she has, and she is deserving of it by her observations. That is being blessed. Give her a hug for reopening our eyes. The children too. The Sabbath was given for man to do just what she is doing, notice and take stock in all His works, commune in Him. Thank you for sharing such a personal, beautiful testimony. P.S. Sorry, I don't eat meat, but I'm all in for great veggie dish tasting :)
Amazing channel. Glad your doing what your doing. I have been working for my self for last couple of years best decision i made. Im also in va if u ever need help just let me know.
When you really want to leave a job, the last two weeks are so hard to wait out...I think you need to do what is right for you. Especially when a bully is concerned. Good luck! I think it's a great idea to make areas for the wildlife. We have the same idea for our future homestead. You're not kooky. :)
Wow that employer is awful! Geez I can't wait to hear who they are. Glad you are getting away from those people, you deserve better. You are better. I've had to deal with horrible bosses before too, and I couldn't get away for years due to being single and having no one to help me. When I finally did quit it was like a HUGE dead weight had been lifted off of me, I could breath again , my eye didn't twitch anymore and my nerves eventually calmed down... I had no idea how tense and stress I was! I wish you luck. It is scary but it will be worth your sanity
Once you are out of that bad job situation with your focus being on your writing and the homestead you will feel the weight of the world lift off of your shoulders. In regards to adding to your homestead I suggest goats. There are some very nice products you can make from goats milk such as cheese and soap to sell. My one suggestion to you is to also look into bee hives. They are in high need in our environment! You can also sell honey and make other products with it. Sandy
With all the different trees you've planted and fishes, frogs you have, you're creating a small eco-system. Expect more wildlife coming to your property...pretty awesome!
John Doe My wife worked for Amazon for 3 days. Everything is supposed to be automated & robotic, but it's all BS. They would make her walk over 5 miles a night - hauling goods up & down flights of stairs. My wife is Type2 Diabetic - not on insulin. But she came home with sores on her feet on the 3rd day and in tears. Before you start, Amazon gives you a propaganda orientation and It's all BS. I've heard of over a dozen people quit Amazon - the longest employment being 3 months. They're horrible!
Goats prefer the weeds, but will eat grass (taller ones), sheep prefer the grass, but will eat the shorter grasses. So if you can work 3 or 4 fenced in areas to rotate the goats and sheep, send the goats into an area first then move them to the next area and move the sheep into the area the goats had just finished with. It's a system used by many a ranchers. Thanks for the video.
Love watching your videos ! Definitely look into bee hives ! Or maybe Cow or 2 for milk ? How about a couple of Lama for their fur ? Ps.... love your stories.
Kevin, thanks so much for sharing your story. So many things you mentioned remind me of my own experience's. I once had a boss who cried when I told him I was quitting. I also got married in the Phils to my beautiful Filipino wife (from Manila/Marikina) 18 years ago. We have a 15 year old son & we live in Delaware. We flew back & forth to the Phils making stops in Japan & Korea. Hope you hang in there for 9 more days. But it honestly sounds pretty bad. I was in your situation once & I got together with one of my coworkers & everyday at lunch time we would pray together & God opened the door for us to move on. I got a job as a Heavy Equipment operator. Have you tried prayer? I'm a firm believer that God knows our every need. You & your family our in our prayers. Take good care.
I'm with you on preserving the deer on the property. We're fortunate enough to live on 45 acres and I cant imagine not waking up and seeing 15-20 of them out in the morning dew feeding or feeding again while the wife and I have our coffee on the porch. They can eat whatever the hell they want too. P.S. - Go for it with the goats! They're great!.
I love your respect for nature and life. What a place for a seasonal "Retreat." Small cottage or campsite(s) by reservation only... unrefundable deposit, with a custom application for consideration. . . maybe just for spring + fall. Your YT audience will totally EMBRACE whatever you're lead to do. In prayer you will find your direction. Can't wait to see what our Abba Father does for you next!!
I'll tell you why I watch your videos, and it's not to see your wife sir, but because many of us city dwellers hunger for spacious living on the land as the ancestors all did, rather than the noisy clamour of city living. Every day been close to nature something new manifests, and the beautiful silence encourages the entrepreneurial mind, and you find yourself! Thank you for sharing your journey. One day I may find courage to share something of mine too. Peace.
That is a perfect idea. Nature does need support. I have heard of people that are almost bitter about nature taking a share and they end up “losing” more when they protest.
I look forward to hearing from you and your family everyday. I was thinking about you all as l picked my blueberries last night, and feeling grateful that there are other folks out there who enjoy these simple pleasures. --Purple cone daisies are native to America, resistant to drought, and they feed the finches in the fall. -- l love hearing about Dearlys outlook. I dont think a lot of Americans truly realize how fortunate we are to live here. They dont understand how hard it is to just survive in other countries. Kevin thank you for your generosity of spirit and time. Peace ✌
What's bringing us in? The love you share, the grace you show, the frustration you solve. Plus a some darn fine gardening tips.

This sounds like a beautiful piece of land. Six acres, sounds wonderful.

What a beautiful lady for a courageous man! So glad you found each other......

i gave up a job i shed tears to be worthy of
i loved it when you spoke from your heart of your
"joyrides"
made plenty around puget sound over here
I'm a new subscriber from Alabama.
Thanks for sharing your story. The sheep, sound like a great idea. That is what they use in Genoa and the Carson City area in Nevada.
Ah, thanks for those kind words, Barb. We're glad you're here.
Glad to hear we make your morning a little more tolerable Pete. Thanks for listening.
Those birds are giving you precious gifts from Nature. The deer don't run from you as you have a great aura.
You have a great attitude and outlook on life. Good luck
bravo,....keep going with your great plans!!!
I am so absolutely amazed that you have this outlook on life!😀😊
Really fudging wonderful to hear your views on 'live and let live', and also your incredible understanding of the land that you're living on!😊👍👍👍
All love, and best wishes to you all, Claire, Sally and Zora ( 2 older Goldies ), Berlin 😘 😘 😘 ✌ 👍 👍 👍
I'm glad you are doing what is right for you and your family. Love your videos.
I like listening to these talks. Helps me find a part of myself that feels more grounded to something genuine. I appreciate that you share with us your journey. You're someone I look up to. And hello to your family!!! :) Regards from the Philippines!!
Maayune gabii dito Nasha. Uploading a new vid now. Make sure to check back in a few hours. Salamat kaayu!
Homesteading Off The Grid Thank you po! Already watched the videos and looking forward for more :)
I wanna see solar panels, compost station, maybe a pond to garden irrigation system.
Thanks for your kind words, Josue.
LOL.
I have noticed a goldfinch in my backyard the past few days. They really stand out.
There's a great book called "The Good Life" that talks about a couple who lived independently off their land for over 40 years. It's a great read about how they went about building up their homestead. Good luck!
I never thought of them looking like t shirts, great imagination. Love the way your wife thinks.
Amazing....all I can say is amazing!
Must respect too you for your military service. Do the nine days.
The poplars are felled
Farewell to the shade
And the whispering sound
Of the cool collonade
Great poem by a great poet
Hope all works out well for you with your employment situation. There is something to be gained in every trial.
I don’t know if I’m allowed to guess where you work, but I’m guessing either USPS OR UPS.
Thanks Rain
Hope you get through the two week notice
My best friend retired from the Army and went to work for the USPS in Florida. He tells me the same stories on a weekly basis.
We were created to homestead. You will love your new life doing what we are suppose to do.
You got to stand up for yourself and believe in yourself to be a man and you sir are a hell of a man in my opinion have a great day from Alabama
Thanks for the kind words. Thanks for taking ur time to watch my video.
Would love a book review from you. Enjoying your vlogs thanks from Australia 🇦🇺🐨😀🐨😀
This has to be either Amazon, FedEx, or UPS! I've heard and experienced the same crap as this within those companies consistently
John Doe, also might be USPS. jus' sayin'
It's a LOT of employers, more the norm than the exception unfortunately!
He mentioned TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) in a previous video, which is the Federal Government's version of a 401k.
me too, I think it's also USPS
I'm huge fan of the Wheel Of Time books btw. Love that you used crayon x-D It worked in the past.
So beautiful true love glad you had the money for the ticket you will never regret it I never leave love ones behind
To bad the company can't see how many good people they are losing. You will feel so free once you're gone.
Maybe you could start a mowing company with your 401k. Or have a handyman service/pick up regular groceries for customers. Best wishes!
Hi, in Scotland we call that a tulip tree, which is part of the poplar family 🏴🏴🏴🏴
Your wife is teaching you new things & she’s learning new things being with you.
Peace.
ed auva'a
I agree. He is living the life I would like to live.
yes I agree with both of you. would so love to live that life. thank you for coming up with the words for me.
Thanks Ed. I've lived in cities, and the whole while I was there I felt like I was dying. Hope you can get out at some point too.
Peace ✌
Thank you Chelsea
