I'm an American fan, now 68, and I grew up with the Seekers. Yes, Judith's soprano is what may have set them apart, but the tight harmonies of the men blended just beautifully, and the songs I remember made them something truly memorable in my life.

I recently watched, on TH-cam, Judith Durham's appearance on "This Is Your Life". She conducted herself with dignity and humility and there was nothing to indicate that this was anything unusual for her. What a wonderful voice. What a wonderful singing group. True ambassadors for Australia. In the 21st century with all its problems, gender confusion, torrents of filthy language, rampant violence at the slightest provocation, and unrestrained greed, what a breath of fresh air this group really is.

The Seekers, one of the best and most popular bands ever. Recently, I have rediscovered their music and it still resonates today. I love the positive, uplifting songs. And to see them reunited yet again, is so heartwarming, especially to hear them voice forgiveness over the 1968 breakup, and to embrace and probably better understand, in hindsight, their story and path to where they are today. Bless The Seekers for bringing us so many happy memories and beautiful songs. Judith was a lovely looking girl back then and an attractive woman today. They can still deliver the music in 2012, long live The Seekers and when they sadly pass, we'll still have their wonderful music to enrich our lives. Thank you for the music!

The Carnival is Over is such a HUGELY """STRONG""" and powerful song. I still cry today (8 years after my husband passed) when I hear this song. It was played as his casket was placed in the car on his way to the cemetery. My husband and I went to their 25 year anniversary reunion and was such a beautiful night, we sang every song. Even after this long time Judiths voice is still so strong.

Yes, and because Judith wasn’t / isn’t vain about herself, it gives her a “real ness” and winsome beauty that girls who are stuck on themselves could never, ever, ever have. And the guys too, all 3 were blessed to just consider themselves “normal people” as Judith said in another interview I just watched with One Plus One. The Carpenters were phenomenal but they ended up with problems, drug problems, eating disorders, emotional problems that the fame brought them that they apparently weren’t able to handle.
Watch the One Plus One interview with Judith. It’s fabulous!

I never knew that Judith had suffered from eating disorders or that their break-up had been so painful for the boys. It adds a whole new dimension to my perception of them. And that spontaneous moment between Bruce and Judith at 11:06 is one of the most moving I've seen. Bruce's vulnerability is beautiful and his open-spirited nature and courage in revealing it is just so lovable. That moment between them reminds me that it is our vulnerabilities that make us lovable to one another and yet we all go through life hiding and disguising our vulnerabilities with all the vigour we can muster. I'm so glad I found this interview. It has really stirred my heart and maybe even taught me a valuable little life lesson too. Thank you to a beautiful group that I have only recently discovered as they were before my time. How blessed am I.

The Seekers are to the 60s what Abba is to the 70s . Great vocals catchy tunes and humble genuine humans that respect each other. No drama just timeless songs. They will always be relevant and timeless and the passing of any one of these musicians is truly heartbreaking!!

I hope they go on forever, one of the greatest harmony groups ever. It's so good to see a 1960's group that is still the original lineup, still together, still alive, and having fun making music.

Absolutely one of the greatest groups. Judith was/is a sweetheart who gave it up because she wanted to go back to Australia, get married and have children... which she did and all power to her.

+Halo101st yup! I'm only 34 so I wasn't around when they first came on the scene. I was 12 years old when I first heard Georgy Girl and then a little bit later heard I'll Never find another you. Ironically, They were having their25 year anniversary around the time I was discovering them for the first time as a 60s group! I just recently heard the rest of their music. I heard Morningtown Ride on a children's cd at the daycare I worked at and looked it up on youtube to find out who origionally sang it and discovered that the Seekers did and found there other stuff too! Now I'm one of their biggest fans!

I just had a thought, Beth. Girls today who are the same age Judith was then can get an instant preview of what age looks like. They said they are in their 70's. That surprised me. Also, I did not know they were as big as they apparently were in the '60's although I loved their songs. They are amazing, aren't they?
I loved Judith then, and I love her now. What a voice (cut crystal).
How great that you like '60's music. There never was, or has been, music like that since. Those artists, and they were true artists, seemed to fade away very quickly. They have been missed by us all.
Do you have children? If so, they cannot be very old and perhaps you could introduce them to 'good' music early.

+Halo101st I don't but I have kids I sit for and I have nephews and honorary nephews and nieces that I have introduced to Seekers music. I sing I'll never Find another you at nap times and it works like a charm!

I love the Seekers! Uplifting and just a beautiful part of musical group history. I listen to them a lot on Pandora. I work in Intensive Care as a Registered Nurse. This music is both soothing and makes me happy on days off when work is very stressful. I listened to them over a 16 hour drive from Florida to Texas over 2 days. The music kept me happy and also alert. I was more tolerant during traffic delays as well!

It's weird yes. However, you find that a lot of people who society thinks as beautiful, In that person's eyes, they think they're not. Mainly because they have never been told that they are beautiful or they are the modest type who think there are far better looking people than I or there are the wise types who would rather be remembered by their achievements rather than their looks.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. We see what happens to so many groups that hit it big. Maybe it was gods wisdom, maybe it was best for them and best for us that we simply had a taste of them back in the 60s. That we and they are now able to enjoy The Seekers even more for what they were and what they are now.

right very little voice degration, but its not really all the high notes that they are doing, not like the voice shreading music that some sing, like hard rock, or the stuff sir paul sings he cant even hit some notes anymore, he is a good musician and all but he just cant hit notes anymore, and saddly too as he was one of the most iconic musicians of the cold war period.
I like the song never find another you, its soo easy to liston too and such a song that has some real profound emotion and a real meaning of true love, but I hate the song georgy girl its sounds too hoaky.

    • @mrfester42
      @mrfester42 9 ปีที่แล้ว

manga12 It's true that Paul (McCartney) can't hit the high notes anymore but I think you're just plain wrong when you use the word "sadly" and say he was one of the most iconic musicians of the cold war period. He remains one of the most iconic musicians of the period and remains one of the two most iconic songwriters in history. There's nothing sad about him, nothing sad about how he performs and certainly nothing sad in the eyes and hearts of those who grew up with him during the Beatles hey day and who continue to enjoy the music he still writes.
