    Me and a friend in multiplayer had built a large network of highways of about 6 foundations wide with trucks that brought a bunch of resources from smaller factories that made, say, iron plates, copper sheets, even packaged fuel to our main big factory that has all of the assemblers and manufacturers. It was time consuming to setup, but man just watching trucks come and go makes the factory really seem alive.

    I didn't know I could put multiple trucks on the same existing path..
    Hands down one of the many perfect guides out there :D

    Love seeing simple setups. Some others make too big setups, i think most go small.

      I agree. And you should always start small so that you understand the fundamentals. And then you can expand if you feel comfortable with the basics.

    Thank you! Liked and Subscribed as this is EXACTLY the kind of channel I've been searching for for Satisfactory. I have "completed" the game (i.e. gone as far as you can at this point) but I know I was brute forcing a lot (A LOT!) of the game. I figured out how truck routes worked on my own after a lot of trial and error (sure wish I had seen this back then) but even now I didn't realize I didn't actually need to stop at the stations. So thank you for that! I'm looking forward to catching up on all of your other videos on one of the very best games ever!

      I'm glad you like it all! I'd be curious to know if there are any guides that you think I should work on in the future. There are plenty of things to talk about!

    Omg, I didn't know I could use coal as fuel for trucks until today. I honestly thought that you could only use biofuel to power trucks when you first unlock them and had to wait until you unlocked packaged fuel to begin automating fuel for the trucks. I feel so relieved lmao

    Great video, but I don't understand when exactly trucks are going to refuel? Whenever they come close to station with fuel ready to go in?

    • @SatisfactoryNews
      @SatisfactoryNews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are a couple ways to refuel trucks. If they load or unload at a station they will refuel if there is fuel in the fuel section of the truck station, and if that fuel type matches what's already in the truck. For example, if a truck is running on coal it can only be refueled by coal. Another option is to create a dedicated truck stop where that all of your trucks stop at to get refueled. You'll just need to include a stop there on your routes, and make sure the station is set to "load" so that the trucks don't unload their existing cargo.

    I find trucks to be super useful when I want to get a unique node quickly from one place to another while I set up other things.
    Also, I wish the loading animation was faster, since that's what really threw me off in the first place.

  • @mitchellsidebottom9271

    Thanks for this. I have been wanting to develop vehicle routes because I just like the look of vehicle transports compared to building 1.5 kilometers of belts. It works but it just looks and feels kind of unrealistic even for a game where you can build floating sky factories and launch yourself out of air cannons at Mach speeds. I've had luck making the factory look tidier by placing stackable supports and running belts, pipes, and hypertubes all in tandem, but since lengths of belts are much shorter per support than pipes and hypertubes I have to place more stacks than I'd like.
    Vehicles fix this problem until I figure out rail transport but I found it oddly intimidating.

    Great info!
    Perhaps I missed it, but is there a way to have an automated vehicle go fetch materials more "on demand?"
    For example, say I need one truckload of something - can I send the vehicle out (pickup) and back (unload) one time only? Maybe I don't always need the vehicle to continuously run the circuit over and over.
    Just wondering.
    Thanks!

    • @SatisfactoryNews
      @SatisfactoryNews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and no. You can't do that fully automatically. But you can build a truck, assign it an existing route, and then dismantle the truck when it comes back to unload. But if you don't interfere, the truck will keep doing the route indefinitely.

      @@SatisfactoryNews My man that is honestly so helpful because I put off making truck routes due to not knowing this one fact. I thought the AI was stupid but turns out I was the dummy.

    • @SatisfactoryNews
      @SatisfactoryNews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely not perfect. Trucks are supposed to phase through each other if they get in each other's way but I've had truck systems shut down because two trucks got stuck on each other. And just yesterday I had a truck get stuck on a belt and I never left the biome I was in, so I had to manually drive it back into the road in order for it to fix itself. On the other hand, I have a truck route that is now covered by a rocky hill that wasn't there before, and the truck phases through it perfectly. So the AI isn't perfect, but it's pretty good.

    Good stuff, I was confused cause it didn't allow me to save paths, the reason was that i just thought it was a start to end kind of path not a full loop, thanks for the clarification.

    • @SatisfactoryNews
      @SatisfactoryNews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You got it! The way that paths and loops work is a little weird to me, and I kind of wish it was a different system. So I'm glad I could help someone else's confusion with this video!

    By the time it takes me to record the route i would already be done building a belt setput that has double the throughput. Hate trucks.
    The paths are also a pain to work with. For some reason it only allows to delete not move/add nodes.

I personally had a world with too much mess, so I started a new world, and now I wanted to make some motors but where I make both parts are not close. • @ZackJJones

    I think it would be good to mention some of the pain points using vehicles.
    1) Wood producing tree's of any size will stop your vehicle and is super frustrating when recording a route, so try to clear the route before hand.
    2) Even though you have to explicitly press the indicated key to load/unload while setting up a route.... strangely if the truck passes the bounding box (white square when placing) of another truck station it will perform the load/unload automatically... This was infuriating as you can spend many hours setting up trucks, just to start seeing materials begin to mix into your production lines and mess things up.
    3) For me, going up steep hills dramatically impacts steering for whatever reason and is a challenge.
    4) Rocks, even small ones can stop your vehicle altogether.
    5) If a truck falls in the water, it is lost and your only option is to dismantle it.
    6) Afaik, a route can be edited, but only to delete a tracking arrow. You cannot add or move an arrow, which would make route building much less frustrating imho
    6a) By extension, routes cannot be expanded, which is unfortunate as you have to delete and re-route if you want to add to an existing route
    7) Tractors seem to spin around while turning at max speed (maddening while recording a route)
    I love the truck idea, but after finding out all the above by trial and error, I often wish I had just stuck with belts. Its a love/hate thing for me
