Johan is the most uncanny character I’ve ever seen. Outwardly he’s an essentially perfect angel like man, but under the surface he lacks almost any relatable characteristics to a human. His eyes bear no emotion and his usual tone is devoid of any discernible intent. I wouldn’t even describe him as strictly evil. He’s just, nothing. He’s the antithesis to humanity. A nihilistic force that wants to erase itself and all knowledge of it’s own existence. This heavenly sounding theme is also perfect for his character. He’s a skinwalker, tricking even god himself into thinking he’s an angel.
I really love your description and analysis of johan, it's so beautiful and profound and has opened my eyes, please I wish to talk to you, is there anyway I can? Your Discord, or any other social media? I wish to be your friend. Please.
great description, you carry the points you make across really well. the only thing i'd like to add is that johan's eyes might be the most emotionally conveying part of johan. every time he cries, it's genuine: when he was on the rooftop with carl, he was relating with his life story. when he read the book in the library, he teared up before fainting.
"Even if we were the only two people left in the whole world...I'd forgive you." The absolute shock in Johan's eyes when she said she forgave him depicted in the manga broke me. It's no wonder Naoki said to the animators of the series that they MUST NEVER DEVIATE from how Naoki expressed Johan's eyes because all of his emotions, thoughts, feelings and character was depicted within Johan's eyes in every single scene.
@@AdityaRaj-hp8tn I think a lot of it was artistic liberties. They created shots that were never there to begin with and I can respect that. But the way they changed that moment...I disagree with.
I don't know whether he handed over that money for that lady to buy pills to cure her medical condition or he really wanted to spoil her more to buy an actual drug like heroin etc ?
When I hear this theme. I think it sounds angelic and tranquil but I also get this melancholic sometimes dreadful feel at the same time, which adds this kinda creepy vibe to it. The angelic tranquil part is a giant contrast with Johan, because he is a nihilistic serial killer, and it represents his benign self on the surface where he has to pretend and manipulate to blend in and achieve his warped goals. But the hollow melancholic part is like the nihilistic serial killer part of himself that is buried deep down, which is you know his real covert personality, so in reality he's psychotically evil and cruel, and to me this piece represents his two contrasting personas together. Its like a mockery of good.
He did everything out of love for his sister. Hes not as evil as you think. Most of the people he killed, he killed for a reason. This is presently clear all through out Monster.
True, people are always talking how Johan is the greatest antagonist. But they forget how good the other characters like Franz Bonaparta, WolfGang Grimmer, Dr.Tenma and many more are.
Everyone talking about Johan but I can only think about this: John 1 5 The light shines in the dark, and the dark has never extinguished it. 6 God sent a man named John to be his messenger. 7 John came to declare the truth about the light so that everyone would become believers through his message. 8 John was not the light, but he came to declare the truth about the light.
Nothing is better than listening to Johan's theme at 7 AM
johan is in my opinion the best villain and antagonist in all media
A superb and wonderful melancholic song
How can this be so beautiful and pristine yet destructive and manipulative
