Amazing to note that many of us still have relatives who lived at that time .

The information in the description underneath the video needs to be corrected. Mauritius became independent on 12 March 1968 not in 1992.

Not a single Mauritian born and brought up in Mauritius before 1968 acquired British Citizenship .Britain refused citizenship to locals ,biut locals were called to fight aside Britain during world war 2

Judging by the vehicles, the dress style and the background scenery, the footage dates from way before 1941, which would have been wartime period. Most probably the 1920's.

One must remember that Mauritius was always behind the times, thus the 1920's model vehicles were probably still in active use in 1941. Everything else seems in keeping with the announced date of the film.

Yes you're probably right, the style of these dresses dates back to the 1920s

The british ship couldn't have sailed leisurely by Reunion in 1941 as at that date it was controlled by Vichy France an ally of Nazi Germany and hence an enemy of Great Britain. Most of the ships seen in Port Louis are sailing ships while in the 1940's they would have been steam powered ones.
