Seriously so many clueless takes on this situation KTM posted record sales and profits 2023, shifting 381,555 units worldwide and grossing $2.73B. This is about multiple businesses, buyouts, loans etc & interest rates not dropping & bad management, if it was solely one business yes they would be in bad shape but not completely in the 💩
Hi Freddy, loved Declan's letter. Whilst recently bike shopping, I had a look at the F900GS and can confirm that it is stunning, as is the R12 incidentally. It seems like all the bike one would ever need. It was more than i needed, I ended up with a less sexy but thoroughly excellent NX500. Keep up the great work!
As mentioned by you in the past, my heart goes out to all the ex-Ktm employees and their families who are presently suffering due to mis-management. Oddly and luckily enough Husqvarna, GasGas and MV Augusta don‘t seem to be affected. Ps; if KTM is reading this, we still have a 790 Adventure engine in the yard which we will Sell you for research purposes.
Thanks 🙏🏽for the info Richard, they just have‘nt popped up in the news. Just so unfair for people to lose their income, especially so close to christmas. Sales figures are generally down this time of the year for all, let’s just hope motorcycle business can pick up and maybe recover in spring.
@@richardbrooks4549 And not just their sales, but the resale value of current bikes. And as its current owners most likely to upgrade to 2025 models it’s made it harder for fans to upgrade. Even if they wanted to!
As a KTM owner, I’m obviously biased and make no apologies for it. However, I’m not too concerned with this news. At least there. Recognised the problem and are doing something about it. I think they will sort themselves out. I’ve had a 1290 Superduke r and now a 1290 super adventure s and both have been faultless and absolutely bags of fun. The super adventure is a brilliant all rounder. What I find most sad about all this. Is some of the comments on TH-cam videos seemingly relishing in KTM’s problems and happy to see them go. These people seem to forget we are all bikers no matter what we ride and having more manufacturers making bikes ensures innovation is continuously pushing forward. Also KTM make some of the most unique bikes you can buy in looks, engines and the way they feel. Is my super adventure beautiful - absolutely not. If I wanted pure beauty I would fork out £40-50k on the new Norton RSV4 tbh. Saw it at motorcycle love and the detail, quality of materials and machining on every single little part was absolutely unbelievable. But…. I neither have £50k or unlimited funds to own multiple bikes. So a do or all adventure bike as your only bike makes perfect sense to me. And KTM already had me at the Superduke. I didn’t get it for years. In fact had a bit of a disdain for adventure bikes and what they were doing to the biker market and pushing out other models. However, the super adventure is a better bike overall than the Superduke in almost every way apart from the handling and brakes. We should all be sad for the state of all motorcycle manufacturers as none of them are having a particularly good time besides the Japanese manufacturers and probably royal Enfield.
I had two 390 Dukes and covered over 20K miles, only had to get the second one as the 1st was written off on the cimmute when a cager pulled out on me at 40mph. Lots of people say they're unreliable without ever having owned one.
I recently purchased an accessory loaded Yamaha MT07 on a mid23 plate. It has the low seat. I have a short 27 inch inside leg. Trade in prices are rubbish, due to the dealer needs to make a profit. So, after seeing you every week looking up good buys on Facebook marketplace. I decided to put my mint Honda Rebel 500 up for sale. Didn’t think it would sell, at this time of year. But after 3 weeks it has a new owner. I gained £1250, over the trade in over. I will miss the bike as It’s the only bike I can comfortably flat foot. The new owner has got a great bike. So with the money I have ordered a Datatool tracker for my MT. This only makes a £10 difference on the insurance, but peace of mind. I had one fitted to the Rebel.😊
Well done. Enjoy the MT, it's a joyful bike and an epic engine. If your riding ever starts to find the limits of the stock suspension, maxton racing will sell you fork cartrage upgrade kit and rear shock for about 600 quid that will take the bike to another level. Peace
2020 I wanted a 650 - 700cc Bike My local Dealer Sold Kawasaki's & KTM.. my Heart was Saying KTM . Journalists were Raving about the 790s Scalpel like Handling. But in the End I got the less Exciting Kawasaki Z650 it's Never Given me any Problems Starts every Day Handles Well and It's at the Milage some KTM (not all) are getting Cam Problems. .. I would be getting a Bit worried now if I had Gone for The KTM
Just ordered! Thanks for that Freddy, another Christmas pressie sorted! With you on KTM, they refused to help Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, BMW stepped in and the rest is history!
Fantastic story about Peter Ray!! I’m 70 and next years annual tour of Europe will see me doing 2,500 miles around France in 12 days on my Multistrada. If Peter’s anything to go by I can look forward to another 21 years of touring, perhaps not on the Ducati but at least on my Triumph Scrambler 400 X which is so much lighter!! 😂😂
I've been to Ouarzazate on a BMW bike tour. Rode my 1150 GS from Cheshire to the Sahara and back. It was an amazing experience with a great bunch of people. I do remember that when we stayed in Ouarzazate it led to endless Tommy Cooper impersonations! "Wazzazat"! 😁
I've parked my street bikes and replaced touring with track days and racing. A Norton featherbed, and now have my eye on a Ducati TT2. Cheaper than a new sport bike.
Apart from SLRs, i had a little Minolta compact camera which had amazing picture quality. I reckon digital cameras are only just catching up. most Digital pictures just don't have the edge sharpness and don't have the same latitude as film. Ansell Adams squeezed out some pretty good pictures even earlier. All using film! How quaint. It's a bit of a bugbear for me at the moment where younger employees are of the mind that more modern is always better, more accurate etc (and this is to do with data processing). This has lead to a large waste of cash, software that doesn't do the job, but at least we get nicer graphics of of it. Sorry, rant over. Time to change over the LP and put more coal in the Arga. 😀
That old guy is the same age as my dad , epic last year, my old man rode on the back of my Guzzi in the Lord Mayors Show I am a bit younger ( not much though) and looking forward to riding my Guzzi again, even bought a beeline 11 for it ready for a trip next year
Freddie, last year I rode 5000+km around Morocco over 2.5 months with over half of that off-road, including two 160km waterless desert crossings. I saw countless numbers of big adventure bikes blasting along on the asphalt, often in a long line of a dozen or more, but only one motorcyclist riding off road (on a KTM). I talked to a few riders who were part of an organised tour who told me they were riding up to 400km daily. . It did make me feel at the time that they were all missing out and had exchanged quantity (of accumulated km) over quality of experience. So it was interesting to see that Sa'id chose that beautiful 1250 Bandit rather than a big adventure bike. BTW I was riding my Surly ECR bicycle.
I own a k6 model 1200 bandit and I love it. They are amazing bikes and a bit of a do everything bike. Plenty of power for the roads and parts are plentiful.
About 8:00 in. You are SPOT on about governments disguising tax grab as enviormental protection. For example in Canada why tax us SO much to ride motorcycles and not incentivize it to save on fuel consumption? It is because they don’t care. I 100% agree with you Freddie!
@@specialized500Not even close. A Harley davidson with a great big 1.9l engine is cheaper on gas than 80% of the cars on the road in Canada. Im saying don’t penalize riders with high tax and insurance, because bikes are more fuel efficient, and they also ease traffic congestion, which also saves on fuel.
Oddly enough there are never rules to effectively ban cars with massive engines doing just over 10 mpg. Electric cars are given tax breaks even though they are so heavy they do more road damage, and their "green" benefits are marginal - or at least unproven. I'd like to see a cradle to grave analysis on that personally.
@ Yes I agree, and they shouldn’t be allowed to ban classic cars that suck a ton of gas. But give those EV incentive things to people buying bikes as they sip fuel (all of them) and ease congestion in traffic.
Just bought a Royal Enfield Classic 350 in Halcyon Green. Love it. Sad about KTm but does Cf Moto suffer the same maladies in n design and mfg (as KTM)?
Rego fees in NZ are high not because of environmental issues but due to our ACC (Accident Compensation Commission) fees, Motorcycle riders in essence cost more to the health service here when involved in an accident so previous Govt upped the ACC fees on motorcycle registrations, not saying the higher fees are right but don't assume it's related to environmental related issues. And some of these fees are used to fund rider training schemes, and other accident reduction schemes for motorcycles and to the health service here in theory.
@@andrewjuniper487 Based on his knee-jerk, reactionary response to the news, coupled with the comments that Freddie is liking, I think we now know all we need to know about Mr Freddie Dobbs. “We need to resist all governments, everywhere” gets a like? Good grief.

Well 50 years ago we collected incredible pictures because, believe it or not, cameras had been invented, color film and easy, cheap film processing! All invented! Crazy 🙃 bit true. Plus motorcycles had been invented. So pics of motos…. possible even 50 years ago. ( yes, i’m old!) . Great channel, keep riding and doing whatever this is!
I agree about the 850GS, it’s a lovely looking bike and i was very close to buying one, then i test rode the CF Moto 800MT and bought that instead, i just couldn’t ignore the value for money, i am very pleased with my purchase but the 850GS was very tempting, certainly a lot more tempting than the 1200GS.
hi Freddie, I bought a 1200 bandit as my first big bike after passing my test, I must have been crazy! I sold it for a 1200 GSA, but I do fancy buying another one!! keep up the great content.
the bandit is a very very reliable pretty much unbreakable , the older models are solid but you gotta be a careful driver to handle all that torque with no traction and no abs .
Loved your rant about the rego across the ditch. I whole heartedly agree with what explanation about governments trying to make us live in a nanny state
Per KTM: "CHINA The partnership between KTM and CFMOTO oversees the global production of the two LC8c models: the KTM 790 DUKE and the KTM 790 ADVENTURE. This strategic collaboration is instrumental in KTM's global production and distribution strategy."

Hi Freddie, New Zealander here. It's worth putting those bike registration charges into perspective. An average petrol powered car is around $100 per year. My 3L diesel is $170 per year. Annual bike charges of $800 is utter insanity. The fundamental reason/justification is accident and injury costs borne by other taxpayers.
I work in automotive. KTM has reported debt of ~€1.5Bn, but the inside rumour is that it's closer to €3Bn. Even if you don't ride KTMs, this is bad. Many dealers stock them and will take a massive financial hit if they can't shift their bikes. which means even more dealers may go bust.
when I was 16 I used to go to school on a Suzuki GT185 ( 2 stroke smell ) & pick my mate up at the bus stop, then see if we could get air over the train bridge, parked it around the corner then went to school.
I foresee CF Moto attempting a reverse-takeover of KTM for the sake of the heritage, expertise, branding, etc, while shifting all production to China. What's going on in New Zealand? I thought the country was a bastion of commons sense. Sounds like it's all going south.
I have a theory, Ewan Mcgregor and Charlie Borman are the most commercially influential bikers ever to have lived, 20 years ago bmw gs1100 were still relatively obscure bikes, but then they did their tv shows and the entire bike market pivoted to huge adventure bikes as BMW marched away to dominate sales. The unintended consequence is that now younger people are wondering why the hell are bikes so huge and expensive?!!! 😂
I did have a test ride on a 890 KTM last year but was very annoyed that they give you all the bells and whistles to try as they are built into the bike, they switch themselves off after a month and then you have to pay to have them unlocked. The dealer unlocks all the 2nd hand bikes for free to make them easier to sell. Scandalous behavior. I walked away.
Trudy and His Commie Counterparts will have to make that a bit more painful.. surely the carbon offset taxes will be saving the planet so he can jet set of his gay party's?
No, they don't thankfully. It seems that the Chinese engineers made the necessary changes to the cylinder head and oil pump to resolve the camshaft issue.
Just a little side note my daughters boyfriend has been buying and flipping KTM supermotard s and other off road 400 - 490 ? KTM Models and pretty much all of them have really bad case hardening issues with cams gears this has caused many problems as luck would have it we have a great engine guy
KTMs reputation took a hit with the chocolate cams, but it has always been questionable at best. They also lost out on the “Long way round” deal when they refused to supply bikes to Ewan and Charlie, some say they didn’t trust even their own machines. With regards to rider aids…none of my bikes have them, a 1998 Zx9r (138bhp), a FireBlade 954 (154bhp track bike) and a 2011 CB1000r (130bhp), I’ve never ridden a bike with them apart from my Mrs’ Speed 400 (which is a cracking little bike). You should really try a Trackday Sir, you would get such a thrill.
That BMW room that punt really (really) paid off. The bikes even broke and still the great publicity must have sold more than 50 thousand GS’s of all shakes and sizes since then. That KTM missed out on that cash cow is…quite unbelievable. Then again, KTM durability being what it is (and was!), would the boys have made it out of the EU?
My son and I were talking about Long Way Round just the other day and wondering what happened to the KTM marketing guy who told Ewan that they didn't believe they'd make it, so didn't want to associate their brand with the trip. Now working in the basement, folding press releases and stuffing envelopes... The biggest wrong decision in the 90 year history of the company. Think of being that guy. PS: It's fun to go back and watch the LWR episodes. The disorganization was embarrassing and the camera equipment is a laff. But adventure - amazing.
@ Not sure if I’d be riding if not for that show tbh. The sense of adventure was, for the time, quite amazing. Regarding the assumption of they’d make it or not I’m not sure they would’ve on KTMs. Those GSs weren’t that powerful and with mr Boorman pulling wheelies and showing off I’m fairly sure they’d have crashed out worse than they did. The easy of maintenance on those air cooled boxers must’ve also helped when they decided to use them as submersibles in Siberia.
Ive got a 125 and 1200 and my insurance is £450... no claims and three years on the road... its £106 an hour to get a decent garage to look at my bike and the parts cost s fortune. That's without road tax. Its costing me a fortune.
I've recently sold my two Yamaha adventure bikes my T700 and Super Tenere 1200 both new. And due to Anxiety attacks I now ride RE HIMALAYAN and RE Classic 350cc desert
If they cared about the environment air travel would be stopped immediately as one of the worst polluters. Motorcycles are one of the most economical and environmentally friendly methods of transport. Why would any government discriminate against them?
Don’t give them ideas ! They already tax air travel although that was admitted to be for revenue not environmental concerns. Private jets would obviously be allowed to continue anyway.
Yeah and starmer 17 foreign trips in 6 weeks. The royals flitting around the world. Planes are the worst. The priveleged ignore this and tell us we have to drive electric cars
Never had one never wanted one so I won’t personally be affected but this is what happens when large companies become greedy and sell budget built bikes for profit 😮
I tried to persuade my grandad to submit some stories, he was one of the original ton up boys. I'll buy him a copy and hopefully he will submit some for volume 2.
There will be some new KTM owners that now won't be able to pay dealers to unlock those features such as cruise control after the initial 1k period. NEVER buy a bike or car that relies on dealers to unlock features.
Are you looking to share some of your book profits with your contributors of the used stories & photos or is it to be all profit to yourselves? Would be interested to know as without them the book would not have been possible
Hey. Great video as always. Can I ask, do you know what is included in the new Zealand registration? I know the Australian one includes the minimum insurance requirements to ride on the road.... 350 quid for road tax and insurance sound pretty good to me. Cheers
I've been looking at the CFMoto 450mt, fun bike to ride but the fact is I dare not to buy it, due to reliability concerns. CF Moto being affiliated with KTM doesn't help at all!! Quite the opposite, is it a KTM in disguise? Does this bike have the same reliability issues? And im not only talking about the cam issues, how about the electronics? Only the future will tell abot CF's reliability... until then I keep on buying japanese motorycles.
Not even 300 bucks for yearly registration? Idk but that doesn't sound odd to me. Given the costs of fuel, insurance and maintenance i doubt that many people will be send over the edge by 25 bucks a month for registration. Don't get me wrong, i am not a fan of it, but to me it doesn't sound crazy at all. I pay about €250 for my GS1200 and €500 for my Kia Rio hatchback. I used to pay about €750 for my Alfa 147. Diesels start at about €1000 a year all the way up to like €3000 a year for a large diesel SUV or pickup. But Netherlands has always had expensive road taxes so i am used to it.
I pay £117/year for my Moto Guzzi V7 but £25/year for my filthy VW Golf diesel - road tax/vehicle excise in the UK isn't anything to do with encouraging eco choices. It's not even linked to road maintenance any more. It's baffling where the money goes and how they get to the figures they want.
Always thought, just as far as looks go, KTM bikes had fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down! Not surprised they have gone bust. Only surprise it has taken so long. Chinese brand will take the brand on (such that it is).
FFS Freddie, you don’t run up a €3 billion debt pile, just because of a handful of 790 camshaft problems. The financial woes are related to massive numbers of unsold bikes, excessive losses and stupid errors such as the acquisition of MV Augusta.
Funnily enough, Michael Gove is apparently quite a big motorcycle fan, and he was at the Bike Shed Show 2023, and give heard from someone in the industry that Boris Johnson was one of the first to buy a new Goldstar for both him and his dad. I can’t confirm if either are true, and apart from these two exceptions, I strongly agree with you. This is especially apparent in London, where for some insane reason there are many bus lanes that motorcyclists aren’t allowed to use- creating more danger and forcing more traffic
Lembit Opik was the chair of the All Party Motorcycling Group in the HoC, was communications director for Motorcycle Action Group and was, for a while, hanging out of the back of both of the Cheeky Girls. Word 😎
While I enjoy the gammony conspiracy talk the NZ-plan is actually quite sensible from what another commenter explained. Must keep the insurance rates down if nothing else? See, the problem in countries with public health insurance is that we bikers crash a lot. That’s fine and all but someone has to foot the bill at the end of the day. Considering the cost of healthcare these days I’d dread the day we as a collective actually have to pay what we could potentially cost society as a whole.
"Self administion" is not going bust. KTM have a trading arrangement with CF Moto, neither has any money in the other. Bajaj has a 49% stake in the KTM/Pierer Mobility group.
Yes, going into administration is generally an accounting way of halting loan repayments, renegotiating debt, making staff redundant without payouts and looking for financial backers, etc, without actually going bust. However, if this can't be achieved they will go bust.
€3Bn in debt might well make them fold. It’s likely that only Bajaj would be prepared to step in or risk losing their investment but I gather Pierer has already ruled that out? I can’t see CF bailing them out - they could just wait for them to fold then buy the brand name for peanuts. They already have the IP anyway.
Self Adim might not be going bust per sei,,, but lets face it ,it might as well be.. I mean who in there right mind would pay full price(or even heaverly discounted) price for a fully loaded 1290 these days... I doubt anyone will take on KTM,they maybe able to borrow more money, but I would not bet on it....
@ Why? because KTM owns Husqvarna and now the uncertainty of Self Administration… gonna be waiting the 90 days cause that’s what they said… In other words that’s when they’re going to have a public statement… But my hesitation is if they by chance drop Husqvarna from their portfolio, who knows how that’s gonna affect production and or contractual obligations in terms of manufacturing parts for specific models
@@richardbrooks4549 no I’m not talking warranty, I mean 5,6,7 years down the road if I need a part after warranty expires… again my concern is if they will be still manufactured
@ You think you won’t be able to get a part? You do know that if they go bust they will resurrect with new owners? KTM are not going to disappear! Just maybe their current owners will
I respect KTM for the off road ability, but a bit like an Alfa Romeo. I’m put off buying one due to a poor reputation around reliability. Why risk it when there are lots of great and reliable motorcycles out there.
Well Freddie I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this. I couldn’t care less about KTM. But just like Harley. If I had a dollar for ever time I heard they were gonna go under I would have enough money to buy a new KTM and Harley.
I thought New Zealand's new government was meant to be right-wing and anti-woke, and had abandoned the plans to ban the sale of cigarettes to young adults on an escalating age? Why are they hiking road tax so much? Have they cut taxes elsewhere and realised they need to tax someone to pay for stuff?
NZ has a centre right government. Centralist governments are still nanny state wokesters. These bastards are still attempting to drive NZ bikers off the road. They still like to control and take away your free thinking.
I’m not at all convinced that there’s any real difference between any of the main parties in most western countries. They all take their orders from the WEF, NATO, WHO, and the other psychopathic elite entities. The objective is obviously to cull us all eventually, and maintain us in a perpetual state of tax, debt and mind slavery, whilst feeding us the illusion of choice through rigged elections, and feeding us fake news via the thoroughly corrupt legacy lamestream media. The Road tax for bikes here in Sweden is 180SEK per year, that's about 15 Euro. It doesn't matter what Capacity the engine has. Most bikes here is only driven 4-5 months per year and very seldom over 3000km per year. I guess there is more to say about taxing motorcycles in countries where you can ride 12 months per year.
Kiwi here. Sold my last bike a while ago and I felt relieved because I no longer had to pay the NZ regoistration which was TEN times more expensive than our cars. It is to do, apparently, with our accident compensation system whereby certain (nearly all) accidents are covered in terms of ongoing care. All good. However, motorcycle accidents are deemed the fault of the rider (basically), but you can play contact sports like rugby, and break any bone in your body, or go skiing and break any bone in your body, and it is deemed a no fault injury. I believe anyone who plays sports such as these should be held financially responsible for their injuries. Why should the rest of us pay for their decisions? Motorcycling on the other hand, soothes the soul and benefits the planet. We should be paid to ride.
Yep it's a valid point about other sports injuries and ACC coverage. I think even more pertinent is that mountain biking or road cycling as a sport or just your average commuter incurs ZERO charges.
CFMoto also make parts for BMW, look at the vose 900 and compare it to a GS. But the voge brand new with all the bells and whistles for £9K compared to BMW prices.... You can, and some do - Apple, Amazon, Temu. You just need to get very big first - and that's not going to happen in the motorcycle world.
Seriously so many clueless takes on this situation KTM posted record sales and profits 2023, shifting 381,555 units worldwide and grossing $2.73B. This is about multiple businesses, buyouts, loans etc & interest rates not dropping & bad management, if it was solely one business yes they would be in bad shape but not completely in the 💩
We did have good cameras before the 'digital' age Freddie. And some of us even knew how to use them!
😊
Kudos to the 91 year old gor still riding a motorbike that's very inspiring 👏
Ps; if KTM is reading this, we still have a 790 Adventure engine in the yard which
we will Sell you for research purposes.
@@SherKhan-b1kes Husqvarna, GasGas and MV Agusta are all affected. Their sales have tanked too
Thanks 🙏🏽for the info Richard, they just have‘nt popped up in the news.
It's always great hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of bike adventures!
Happy birthday, Freddie 🎉. Nice cards on your sideboard

"Wazzazat"! 😁
😆
Nice stories, and good luck with the book, hope all the people in it, also receive one.
I've parked my street bikes and replaced touring with track days and racing.
A Norton featherbed, and now have my eye on a Ducati TT2.
Cheaper than a new sport bike.
40 or 50 years ago we did have S.L.R and T.L.R camera's, it wasn't the dark ages.
And Kodachrome 😊
And Ectachrome!
That old guy is the same age as my dad , epic

I am a bit younger ( not much though) and looking forward to riding my Guzzi again, even bought a beeline 11 for it ready for a trip next year
Book ordered, looks good. Happy to give a little support to the channel, your content has been fantastic
Thank you so much!
Thanks dobbsey. Great as usual. 👍✌️
Love the story of Sa'id, I had the 650 Bandit great bike! This will go on for Ever, Hope this lad has plenty of adventures on it!!😊
Freddie, last year I rode 5000+km around Morocco over 2.5 months with over half of that off-road, including two 160km waterless desert crossings.
Canaduh is a clown country. I live here, I know.
@@Leef3477 Are you saying govts should only allow us to ride 125 cc motorbikes because they have good fuel consumption?
91 year old New RE Gorilla rider, love it well done you 👍🏻🏍️
I think they used cameras to take pics back in the 70s. Much as they had for decades before and after.
Agree 👍
Its a bit like the price of insurance isn’t it? When we as bikers stop crashing so much rates will go down.
@@andrewjuniper487 Based on his knee-jerk, reactionary response to the news, coupled with the comments that Freddie is liking, I think we now know all we need to know about Mr Freddie Dobbs.

@@FullmetalSP1 Agree, Freddie does tend towards clickbaity behaviour at times but I have also seen he will run a correction when he's wrong, would be good if fact checked before he pontificated on stuff like this.
@@903lew Not naive enough to believe that would be the case but first we as riders would need to improve crash rates, certainly in terms of serious injuries and fatalities before we could test that hypothesis.
I'm looking forward to the book. I just preordered it. Thanks Freddie. 🍻
The BMW 850 GS is the same bike as the Voge 900, as you like the 850 you should get them to lend you one to test.
The stories arent lost Freddie, we recant them round a fire in a field everytime we get together,.
hi Freddie, I bought a 1200 bandit as my first big bike after passing my test, I must have been crazy! I sold it for a 1200 GSA, but I do fancy buying another one!! keep up the great content.
the bandit is a very very reliable pretty much unbreakable , the older models are solid but you gotta be a careful driver to handle all that torque with no traction and no abs .

As I understand ktm production was moved to China yet the pricing was Austrian and the product was not good enough shame
Only the 790 (and some Asian only models) are MIC
It wasn’t. The vast majority are made in Austria!
You understand it incorrectly!
The 125 and 390 duke are made in india .

"CHINA
The partnership between KTM and CFMOTO oversees the global production of the two LC8c models: the KTM 790 DUKE and the KTM 790 ADVENTURE.

Road tax (rego) here in Victoria Australia for my Moto Guzzi cost me than it does for my 4x4 ute (pick up). It is approx $830.00 (£410.00)
I foresee CF Moto attempting a reverse-takeover of KTM for the sake of the heritage, expertise, branding, etc, while shifting all production to China. What's going on in New Zealand? I thought the country was a bastion of commons sense. Sounds like it's all going south.
We need to resist all governments everywhere. Cheers from Germany

Question - could CFMoto engines have the same cam shaft issues (sorry if I missed something)?
In Canada it’s over $700 per year for registration on most bikes and $1800 per year if you ride a supersport 🥲
Trudy and His Commie Counterparts will have to make that a bit more painful.. surely the carbon offset taxes will be saving the planet so he can jet set of his gay party's?
Happy Birthday Fred!
So do cfmoto engines have those camshafts problems as well?
No, they don't thankfully. It seems that the Chinese engineers made the necessary changes to the cylinder head and oil pump to resolve the camshaft issue.
another nail in the coffin for ktm was the subscription service , what a rip off
What subscription service?
In Australia £400 for bike registration, and than you need at least that much for insurance 🥱
Great job on another entertaining episode
@ yea I found it very influential at the time. I was already riding bikes but I learnt more about Eastern Europe etc than I ever did at school.
Ive got a 125 and 1200 and my insurance is £450... no claims and three years on the road... its £106 an hour to get a decent garage to look at my bike and the parts cost s fortune. That's without road tax. Its costing me a fortune.

My bike uses 4,5l / 100km which is as much as my mother's small car. And there are plenty bikes that use more

Hey. Great video as always. Can I ask, do you know what is included in the new Zealand registration? I know the Australian one includes the minimum insurance requirements to ride on the road.... 350 quid for road tax and insurance sound pretty good to me.
Cheers
Thanks🙌🏻 I’ve just got a screen shot of the insurance docs, so I may share them in tomorrow’s episode:)
Rather than the bmw900gs why not look at the voge 900 ? Same bike different price....
FFS Freddie, you don’t run up a €3 billion debt pile, just because of a handful of 790 camshaft problems.
The financial woes are related to massive numbers of unsold bikes, excessive losses and stupid errors such as the acquisition of MV Augusta.
8:01 good comments about government overreach Freddy. 🎯🎯🎯
When was the last time anybody saw a Politician on a motorcycle?
Very interesting re Bajaj- thank you for sharing this
€3Bn in debt might well make them fold.

KTM have been badly mnaged for years. Old year bikes are expensivem then they bring out a newer model cheaper and economics don.t add up. Hope they get an injection of cash and survive! I own a 1290 Super Adventure T. No cam problems for the 1290's, just the 790 and 890 apparently. KTM in the USA under the "Lemon Law," are facing huge lawsuits. Not recognising the problem and ignoring customers will be their downfall.
2024 is becoming an Annus Horribilis for motorcycling...such a shame.
It’s been a brutal year
@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne that's also a great description of the governement
