    This plane reminds me of a modernized F-5. Most of the systems have proven easy enough to learn, and it’s a very capable aircraft even with the small fuel tank and payload. I particularly enjoy the flight model with the FBW only implemented on the pitch axis. This has instantly placed itself in my top 5 modules.

      Exactly, the concept of jf17 borrowed a lot from F-20(official modernized F-5).

    You had to press S1 down twice at 4:40 because it toggles SOI between the HUD and lower MFCD; so it must have switched SOI to the HUD first there.

    Excellent video. For a long time I could not get the radar to work at all, then I read the manual and learned what SIL mode was! You are the first person to mention it in a video, so it should help a lot of people who are as stupid as me!

    So with DTT, if I ripple off two rockets I assume they'll just both track their independent targets and I dont have to fire one, switch the primary and fire on the other? I'm loving the ease of use on this aircraft, complex without being overwhelming

    great! did you know, you can also use the targeting pod to observe on your screen the tracked/locked air contact you got on your radar. you should be even able to use the thermal signature mode to have a look on your tracked air contact through clouds / fog and at night. can you try that? (i don't have the Jf-17 yet, i can't try that yet)

    I’m a smidge unclear tho, for TWS can you only bug one or two targets? If so is TWS just a bridge to DTT?

      We do review requests and feel free to post them here, We read the comments.

    • @boringpolitician
      @boringpolitician 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@grripcord9502 - Well, good morning! Oh, and thank you very much for answering!
      It's just a simple thing, really. Some... 10 years ago, Norway was looking in to buying some new flying toys. So, our government put up a competition. Who ever won it would win the contract. Turns out it was just a ruse. The "contest" was heavily skewed so only one jet could win. And so we signed a contract with the Americans for a simple version of the JSF-35. The Swedish SAAB Gripen JAS-39NG lost.
      And I know it's a question asked time and time again, by many people in various countries, which one is the better of the two? If you google F-35 vs JAS-39, there are a lot of theoretical discussion, but no real tests (uh, scratch the "real", not even simulated).
      Something you're willing to venture in to test a bit, unscientifically? In a few different roles (bombing, defending, attacking)?

    • @firemedicjm911
      @firemedicjm911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boringpolitician Thanks for the suggestion. This would be difficult as neither plane is modeled in DCS so there would be no way to test them. I will put the request on the list for Cap to review and see what he comes up with.

    • @boringpolitician
      @boringpolitician 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@firemedicjm911 - Yeah, I realised that as I was done typing. I don't think info on the Swedish JAS-39NG is too hard to come by. They are pretty open about their aircraft. It's harder when it comes to the Americans and their various F-35's.
      Would have been fun with something more than just theoretical debates, though. But, you know what? No matter what, thank you, both really, for taking time to read my suggestion! Hope you have a great day!

    • @boringpolitician
      @boringpolitician 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@firemedicjm911 - Oh, BTW! I don't know if you're up for a riddle? Sort of. Speaking of, the JAS, earlier model, JAS 37, is the only aircraft that has been able to get a lock on and simulated hit on the SR-71, in a non simulated situation. The SR-71 didn't give a hoot about respecting Swedish air space when it was first used. The Swedes didn't appreciate that, so they started sending their JAS-37's (JAS stands for Jakt (hunting), Attack (attacking), Spaning (surveying)) after the intruding aircraft. Five times they had simulated hits on the SR-71. Yes, at high altitude. No, the JAS-37 wasn't built for that altitude. Yes, it was a high risk to take.
      How did they do it? How come they managed to get in shooting range of the SR-71, do you think?
      Here's a good article about these "hunts", though, it is in Norwegian (I've googled, but can't find any English articles on the same topic).
      www.side3.no/historie/pa-skuddhold-av-sr-71-blackbird-4455591

      Google translate does an ok job. But, "the plug", is supposed to be, "the stick". -_-
      Also, "the soil's curvature", is supposed to be, "the earth's curvature".

    I'm sorry, but this was IMPOSSIBLE to follow. It is a no-mans-land between not having enough data and too much data, and so accomplishes... exactly nothing. It assumes I know enough about radar to understand all the acronyms and in-words, but also tries to be simple enough for people that don't understand radar. This video has just confused me. Fail.

    • @grripcord9502

      Here is a video from Cap that introduces a tool that is designed to give you a better understanding about how radar works. You will need this knowledge in order to understand and efficiently operate the radar in this aircraft(as well as most others). I mean I know all the radar modes now, how to control them off the HOTAS and a few new things about the symbology I didn't know before, that's all I was really expecting. What don't you understand? It's a pretty basic fighter radar.

    • @ggrigo33
      @ggrigo33 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you need more info on how modern radars operate, you'll need to watch additional videos, same goes for understanding BVR, tactics, and missile types. This video is designed to show how to operate JF-17's radar. Personally I think it is great, short, sweet and to the point. Hit the books cadet!
