    These dudes seem so down to earth and that makes me so happy. My mom was a huge fan of these guys when she was teenager and into her 20's. She saw them live in 87 during the monsters of rock tour. She passed her music taste onto me and I've been a fan of these guys since I was about 10, 11-years-old. They're the reason why I love rock/metal music.

    Two points in this video that the band brought upon caught our ear. First was Matthias Jabs, where he said,”Before the Internet…,”-EXACTLY. We miss the days when there was mystery about bands, their tour dates, their upcoming albums-back then fans didn’t know everything. The second was Klaus discussing touring,”All the craziness….” Now the audience sits still holding their phones up videoing.🎧

    Its incredible to hear Klaus say at 6:01 how " you learn from the best" Ever since I saw the Scorpions play in that Blackout Tour in 1982 (ish) I ALWAYS felt that they were the BEST!

    I was at their first gig is the USA at that festival in Cleveland. My crew and I were Scorpions fans too. It was not announced that Scorpions would be playing that festival, and then they came out! It was a gift!!! They were amazing, they tore it up HARD!!!

    What a nice tour! it reminded me for some reason when in (1982 perhaps) my mother gave me a giant Mazinger Z poster. Weird feeling i just had now.. was like being a kid for 5 seconds. Thanks!.

    I saw them on this tour when I was 13 on July 18 1980 in Rochester NY at the Triangle Theater, Def Leppard were opening,, amazing show!!! I had no idea they played Buffalo and Syracuse opening for Ted Nugent, I'm glad though because Scorpions played a full set and Def Leppard got about 40 minutes, would've loved to seen that Cleveland show though.

      I must agree. They were late in the 70s and early in the 80s ang GONE in the 90s and forward :P

    That had to be weird for the guys in Scorpions to be touring with young kids like Def Leppard. Klaus and the gang were in their early to mid 30's in the early 80's. 😂

  • @gdb99238
    @gdb99238 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Rarebell is confused here. A. Magnetism came out in 1980, Bon Scott died in early 80. He wasn't on the tour with Leppard.

      July 1979 , Scorpions opened the festival in Cleveland that Herman and Klaus referenced. AC/DC , Thin Lizzy, Journey, Aerosmith and Ted Nugent were playing as well. Not sure about Dep Lep, exact dates

    • @BryanX64
      @BryanX64 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amberc5884 If he's talking about the US tour, Def Leppard didn't tour the US until about the middle of 1980, after Bon Scott had died so the three bands never toured at the same time together.

      Francis Buchholz is now a persona non grata in the Scorpions circle, some say he was fired from the band because he was messing with their money :/

      @Mars Townshend Scorpions want to release their newest album Rock Believer this year in February. - with the idea to record it like back in the 80s. Herman even asked why Klaus and Rudolf didn’t invite him to participate. Which could have been a great idea. It would bring the family back together again (at least the four of them)

    • @tieukhavu8832

      @Mars Townshend He played with Herman in Michael Schenkers Temple of Rock once. I hope they will do more after the pandemic.

    And that's exactly how and why you lost me. I was a huge Scorpions fan in those days, but through the Scorpions I realized, that a fan means nothing to a band.
    A friend and I have been to many concerts of the Lovedrive Tour. I was a fan club member back then, which was lead by Rudolf's sister Barbara, as far as I remember. It was pretty unprofessional in those days, but that didn't matter. Before the Tour I received a black & white, handprinted Fanclub magazine with all the dates, only to find out later, that most of them were wrong. Things could have been very difficult in the 70's. There was no internet, where you received every necessary information. We drove to a concert, that was meant to be held in Lille, France, for example and had to ask about a hundred french people, where they are playing. And french people are, until today, very strict ... they don't speak any other language than french and none of us spoke french. There were no posters or whatever. Finally we found out, that the concert was held in a city called Cambrai, which was about 80 km away and another 1 hour drive. The Palais des Grottes was an awesome venue. So was the french audience. Still have all those tickets. On that tour, you never knew which guitarist, beside Rudolf, would be with them. Sometimes it was Matthias, the next day Michael Schenker, the very next Matthias again. In Cambrai Michael was back aboard.
    Other concerts didn't happen at all, like Luxembourg for example, which was meant to be on the easter weekend. We were 6 or 7 friends, who decided to make the trip and packed our tents to camp there ... and man, it was a journey back then. Again, we've been asking about a hundred people until we found one guy, who was a huge Scorpions fan too and made us clear, that he would exactly know when these guys be around in any place in his country, but they woiuldn't be ... 100%. So we gave up and turned the campsite into a Scorpions place.
    But those days were pure fun and we weren't angry about the band. You simply didn't expect things to work out 100%. Nobody cared. We stood to the band.
    But then came America and they totally forgot their fans at home. The following year it happened 3 times, that we bought tickets for a concert and all of them were cancelled, because they got last second gigs in America that didn't fit their european tour schedule and decided, that America is more important than their fans at home. I was fed up and never ever listened to the Scorps again and never been a fan of any other band ever since, because I realized, that a specific fan means nothing. All those rockstars care about is being a rockstar, no matter who's coming to a show.

    5:24 As far as I'm concerned, everything East of the Rocky Mountains is a foreign country. The only thing we have in common is our money. 😆

    They kidnapped me in Los Angeles when I was only 16 year's old! They didn't get in trouble. I DID! There best friend in 1984 was Simon. Simon arranged a nice lady driver in a new Lincoln Town car to drive me all the way home. Nice people and that was my introduction into the Music Industry. I've been the Music Industry for over 32 year's now. Still Friend's with all of them. Best time's in my whole intire Life. I should Write A Book! lol , RockChar.

    I bet Nugent hated being blown off the stage by Jabs every night of that tour... lol

    • @kevinkiso49
      @kevinkiso49 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I saw that tour here in Seattle at the Seattle Center Coliseum and believe me, that's exactly what happened. Ah..... But Jabs wasn't quite comfortable with the huge stages and some of the material (Uli's and Schenker's parts) was a bit too demanding and he couldn't always carry it off with solid conviction. Ted has years and years of touring the USA under his belt. But it wasn't like a mixed martial arts competition... It was a rock concert.
