  • I found the people of Dhaka to be incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with warm smiles and offers of help. It's a city that truly lives up to its reputation as the "heart of Bangladesh". Overall, my first time in Dhaka was an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back and explore more of this fascinating city. I hope you enjoyed this vlog and that it gives you a taste of what it's like to visit Dhaka for the first time.

@harry You are absolutely right about the immigration and airport issues. Even as a Bangladeshi living in the USA when I visit Bangladesh every year I find the experience inside the airport quite difficult. The reason behind this is Dhaka airport is managed by a government organization and most of the employees are corrupt there. There are some policy issues too. However, the government is building a new airport terminal, and it's huge ($2.5 billion investment). It's almost complete probably take 1 more year. The government is thinking about giving the management of the airport to an international private company that has experience operating other international airports like DXB.

Are you stupid or what, writing comments like this without having basic knowledge about our countrie's whole situation! Whatever the situation we're in now, is for a reason. First of all, country is just started to come out from dependencies and started to put together itself for growth and prosperity. As a matter of fact, it's rising from ashes, so there is no magic stick here in for BD, it's just a stiff uphill struggle. There're no natural resources or not much to go around; instead constant natural disaster, overflowing uncontrollable ignorant population(sorry to say), as well as rumorus and mob culture; all in all, it's a great recipe for disaster !
Nevertheless country is now going through huge correctional process, which may take decade, so until then, we have to brace ourselves. As I mentioned, there's no magic stick for BD. Apart from that, corruption is widespread among officials as well as among general public, which is the biggest issue and there's no quick fix. So it's not gonna be easy to sterilize everyone overnight, it's a long and painful process for us and for our beloved country.
Oh there is a solution, lets discovered some liquid gold, then again, to control that, we will need governments with biger stick and smaller carrot, like in China, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt. Hah....

Bro welcome to our country! Feels nice seeing that more and more tourists are exploring this beautiful nation of ours and representing us in a positive light. If you want a sharp contrast in scenery from where you are currently, I'd recommend giving Gulshan a go. It's one of the upscale modernized parts of the city where you can find all the name brands and skyscrapers. Just a gentle reminder tho, keep your belongings a bit close to you, cuz u can never tell when it comes to the pickpockets and the thieves of the city, they just might nab ur stuff. Besides that, love the positive attitude you have towards our country, happy and safe travels.

Keep it up Harry. Keep showing us Bangladesh. The primary school I went to in Lahore/Pakistan was owned by a Bengali and he stayed in Pakistan till 1974. My mum told me about this (I wasn't even born then). He sold the school and moved to newly independent Bangladesh. I hope he did well in Bangladesh. I feel so nostalgic thinking about his connection to my city and the decision that he took to move back to his roots ........

Wow, the pink palace is epic! Such beautiful architecture and color. Reminds me of the pink Catholic church in a resort here called Villa Escudero (only about 3-4 hrs drive from Manila). It too has been turned into a museum. I hope you can go visit that resort when you return to PH. Love it there. Been there 3x. It showcases the old rural way of life here. They also have a cultural show featuring all the native dances of PH that i would love for you to watch.

"Orange hair -- whether it's beards, moustaches or on heads -- is everywhere, thanks to the popularity of the coloured dye produced by the flowering henna plant. "Putting henna on has become a fashion choice in recent years for elder men," confirms Didarul Dipu, head fashion journalist at Canvas magazine."
