- Folks have been asking for the original broadcast of Late Night from July 7, 1986, before it was "Re-Run Plus"ed on September 21, 1987 (seen here: • The Rerun Plus Show on... ).
With guests Anthony Perkins and Sandra Bernhard, and a performance of "Don't Bring Me Down" by former Animals lead vocalist Eric Burdon. Plus Brush with Greatness (with writers' embellishments), Small Town News, and a salute to WOWT-TV in Omaha, with a special screen-piercing appearance by 200 Elvis Presley impersonators, all starring Rick Scheckman.

I miss this Dave. Anthony Perkins was great as always. To play Norman and come out the other side must have been a mind twister. I think he did it four times.
My aunt would always discuss how scared she was when she went to see the original "Psycho" when it was released. LOL. Mr. Perkins was a Terrific actor. Johnny followed by Dave was great Television. Epic.

The screens were always flat. It was the rest of the TV that wasn't.
I was a teenager when this aired. It feels so weird to me that this is a period piece now. The hair and clothes on that guy with the weightlifting story...

One thing is a little odd about this: the description calls it the original broadcast version, but there is an "original air date" stamp coming back from the commercial after the Perkins interview.
What E! did here was incorrectly chyron the Re-Run Plus broadcast date, not the original Pre-Rerun Plus date.

In very few instances, like the shows where Dave referred to the Dancing Waters before such a company by that name threatened to sue unless the name was changed; thus why it was then called the Prancing Fluids. When some of the Dancing Waters shows re-aired, the name was muted.
Also at the end of the show when Dave announced the next night’s guests. That was cut, and in its place was older generic footage of the band playing while Bill Wendell announced the actual guests for the following night, the show being either a repeat or new.

Also when Dave would give the phone number for a future show where viewers could call in - when repeated, that number was likewise muted.
