- Random episode I recorded to fill out the end of a movie tape. This was the day after that other Royal Wedding that nobody remembers. Guests are Catherine O'Hara and Jeff Altman, hoping everyone forgot about Pink Lady by now. From KCRA channel 3 in Sacramento, CA.
After this had been up a few years, Letterman's company Worldwide Pants filed a copyright claim for one segment involving Dave on the phone talking to a waiter in the outdoor restaurant. The whole show was blocked but TH-cam gave me the option to have them cut out the offending segments, resulting in the cut before the first commercial break and right before the end credits when the waiter comes in and delivers food. Kind of strange they'd want that specifically cut out but were OK with the rest being on here.
It turns out David Letterman's official TH-cam channel put their own copy of that segment up the same day it was ordered cut from mine: • Fan Request: Dave Gets...
It's in stereo but NOT in the proper frame rate like mine is! They should give me a job doing this for them! I'm not even using any fancy equipment but I can upload video in better quality than most of the so-called pros- somebody hire me!
Thanks! Cool to watch the ads as well. 😀Beautiful black cat!
Dave was the best ever. I can't believe Paul didn't know you start with number 10, not number 1. He'd been on the show a good while by this time.
The 70's Letterman cartoon from The Electric Company brought me here.
Everyone slices videos to 30fps. It's maddening. You forget how good TV looked.
@@flipcitypinball6243 Well, that’s just how they get uploaded by default. You have to do extra work to get it to display properly.
Is there really any noticeable difference between 29.97 interlaced and 30 progressive? I always clip from HDTV recordings (29.97, interlaced on NBC and CBS) as 30 progressive in Handbrake. ABC airs in 60fps progressive but at 720 rather than 1080. Fox is 720 too but I don't recall the framerate because i virtually never record anything in there lol
That Löwenbräu commercial was intense!
And the Gettleman
The lighting was so much better when they were in 8H that summer.
Great episode!
I miss David letterman
On late night TV.
@captain scentsible39 not really sure hope not
Wonder what Dave thought about the 70's Letterman cartoon on The Electric Co.?
The day I waa born!
THEY SHOULD HIRE YOU!!! Otherwise those World Wide Pants are empty ...
fun episode! dynamite commercials. thank you.
I gotta agree wholeheartedly. Maximum Overdrive and beer commercials. It was great.
Jeff Altman was all lite up, Thought he did a hit of acid 30 minutes before he came out but he said he was hanging out with the band which probably limited their activity to smokin'' a phatty. Funny how the last 15 minutes of the show was cut out. That would have been interesting to see!
8:21 He wasn’t lying. WNBC AM went out of business 2 summers later
Sky cam. Bring that shit back.
the song at 20:00 is "Chariot of Pumpkins" from John Carpenter from Halloween III
3:07 Coffee for $1.75 and $8 cheeseburger are completely normal prices for 2021.
18:06 classic Dave moment!
This was just cut out due to a copyright claim from Worldwide Pants.
@@TheMediaHoarder their own TH-cam channel just put up the clip separately, maybe that's why?
@@deputay So they have- in stereo but in the wrong frame rate. I just left a comment about that and suggested they hire me. I could do a much better job than many of the 'pros' out there.
8:20 Dave was right-the NBC Radio Network was gone by the time he packed his bags for CBS. It has been revived as NBC Sports Radio (which was originally conceived for Westwood One stations, then moved exclusively to Sirius XM in 2020), and its news division has produced a radio broadcast for iHeartRadio stations since 2016.
Worldwide Pants "copyright claimed" the whole segment with Dave talking to the waiter outside and TH-cam gave me the option to have the offending parts automatically cut, the digs at NBC radio ended up being cut with that.
Dave getting the guy to get into the fountain will always be one of my Top Ten Late Show memories. 36 years later…
Worldwide Pants just ordered that part cut out :(
I loved David letterman show when it came out. I was among first to watch and would ask my friends at school if they had seen but nobody ever stayed up that late. I have to say now it ruined late night talk shows bc there is no gravatas anymore and its only gotten worse.
45:52 That cocaine is one hell of a drug!
22:35 Jack Nicholson was presumably talking about Nikola Tesla who did work for Edison and who Edison did try to ruin and erase any credit (as he did with anyone competing with his film biz). Weird to me that Dave (who’s pretty bright) could only guess ‘The Wright Bros’ (or the gas station guy who found Hughes, a story Tom Snyder told on Letterman at least once). Props to Jack though!
Man...Jeff Altman. Cocaine's a helluva drug.
Back before Shaffer got his Billy Corgan voice.
COOL SHOW ! TUESDAY 4/30/24 APRIL 30, 2024

Katherine Harris s gf/sister weree really hot!!I bet they still are!
I'm sorry, but Jeff Altman is the exemplum of cringe here, cocaine or not. Every joke misses
He was great as Hughie Hogg on The Dukes Of Hazzard, though.
the last guy probably did weed or the other drug
Jeff Altman will forever be known as Hughie Hogg on The Dukes Of Hazzard.
"Deliverance" as stated by Jeff is fiction and not true but stated as fact by a remarkably undiverse group of people that hate Southern White Christain culture.
does anyone know if they still use the ice rink area as an outdoor seating area for the restaurant at Rockefeller (you know, in the recent before times)? I feel like anytime I'd pass there it would just be an empty courtyard?
