Only that Mantle of Majesty was already there in the old XGtE version... so this talking point has been around since 2018 or so. And mind you, with enthralling performance you could charm 6 creatures for 1h at once. Now beguiling magic only hits 1 creature for 1min, with a save each turn. Experience with the old version shows, that it's not more broken in game than say paladin abilities etc 😊
5E doesn't allow you to cast multiple non-cantrip spells in the same turn using actions or bonus actions. You can only do all of this on the same turn in 5.5.
Honestly going to start using the new glamour bard (that is if D&D Beyond let's you use races from the previous version, playing an Eladrin which isn't available in OneD&D).
You can’t damage a creature charmed with charm monster though, and the ability to command as a BA for a non-save only lasts a minute, so it’s basically just a convoluted banish. Better to use compulsion or geas. Then you can damage them every turn and they can’t do anything. You can also Otto’s Irresistible Dance, and they cannot use their action to free themselves, so you will have advantage on them every turn.
I did this to a dungeon boss in one of our campaign, and after the 3rd turn of not being able to do anything and my party hitting it, the DM just said: "you know what? You guys killed the monster, good job, let's just continue."
Maybe, but apart from that dungeon boss, most enemies we faced either had magic resistance, legendary resistance, or +9 or +11 to either their wisdom, intelligence or charisma, making my glamour bard pretty useless 😅

@@skefsongamesI guess if you’re ok to use multiple 4th level spell slots on at spell that the monster has advantage on, to keep this up, then ya. The new rules are nuts. Some combos go insane. Elven Accuracy Piercer Champion being one of them You take the Vex weapon mastery for rapier and shortbow (we will rely on rapier and shield, the shortbow is just so you have a ranged option even if its weaker). Whenever you hit with these weapons, your next attack has advantage. Take Elven Accuracy ASAP so that the advantage on your rapier becomes super advantage. As a Champion, you crit on a Nat 19, and since youre rolling super advantage on every attack, youre bound to crit at least once every other turn by Level 5. Fighter 6 take Piercer. Now you do extra damage die for every crit. And again you're very likely to crit. At Champion 7 you can take an additional fighting style, so get defense or archery. By Fighter 9 you have Tactical Mind. Whenever you miss (which is already unlikely), your next attack has advantage. Now when you hit you get advantage on your next attack, and even if you miss you STILL get advantage on your next attack. And with elven accuracy, if all you do is attack every turn then you will never run out of super advantage! At this level youre dealing 1d8+7 every attack with an additional 1d8 on crits. Speaking of crits, at Champion 15 you crit on Nat 18. This makes your crit chance SKYROCKET. At three attacks a turn you have about 40% chance to crit once every round. All this without spending a single resource like battle masters or other subclasses, or casters witu spell slots. Simple, fun, and really easy to set up.

This is true, it's kind of funny that the community has been sleeping on glamour bard
@@nyanbrox5418 Because you can't point at its DPR and make quips. Thus the community is flabbergasted.
5E doesn't allow you to cast multiple non-cantrip spells in the same turn using actions or bonus actions. You can only do all of this on the same turn in 5.5.
Glamout bard eh?
This trick will be called eternal thirst trap.
Spawns your kryptonite singing "I cast a spell on you!"
just imagine seing a bard chanting grovel every 6 seconds
The demon uses legendary resistance to make the save.
Now what, fancy pants?
We need to see what the 2024 MM does with demons. in 2014 even the top demons like balors, pit fiends, mariliths did not have leg. resistances.
When the player becomes the villain
Pov: Your DM hasn't discovered Constructs
or makes encounters PCs vs one enemy.
stun locked by a bard saying "get on your knees" every six seconds lmao
Honestly going to start using the new glamour bard (that is if D&D Beyond let's you use races from the previous version, playing an Eladrin which isn't available in OneD&D).
I'm currently playing an Eladrin using DnDbeyond
The Bard would have to charm it anew every round though for you to be able to attack the enemy
@@Fangoros silvery barbs is a hell of a spell 😂 (and the monster didn't have magic resistance)
That sounds like a sucky time for the DM
That sounds like a sucky time for the DM
Maybe, but apart from that dungeon boss, most enemies we faced either had magic resistance, legendary resistance, or +9 or +11 to either their wisdom, intelligence or charisma, making my glamour bard pretty useless 😅
“I cast charm monster.”
“Legendary Resistance.”
Wait. So not only is Dancing Bard a better Monk, but Glamour Bard a better Stunning Strike?
welcome to 5e, where casters are better martials than martials
@@swaggyseal To be fair it was the same in 3.5 xD
@@Shwh1 we don't talk about 3.5 balance for a reason...
Yall REALLY need to read the the book. The Dance Bard is a nice imitation of what a Monk can do now.
@@joshuapulliam7085 magic, magic breaks the game far more than any minuscule change they make to the monk.
Dom Bard: "Get on your knees."
Dont forget that as you charmed the monster its buddy also gets charmed thanks to Beguiling Magic.
Thanks.. This really helps me know what not to choose as a Bard. I don't ever want to win like this. Yes. I watch these channels to know what spells to not choose so as to never power game.
Good example of why the DM has the last say/ laugh when it comes to nuking the party 😂
Isn't that just Hypnotic Gaze?
This is when I add in a second boss that gives the first immunity to command
And this is when players leave bcs immunities are bs
@aifinka9227 this is when the entire party falls apart because no one will tolerate not being able to do anything, even the GM.
If one immunity ruins your play through then your character is lame anyway.
@@jerryweston7552 1)GM can aleats do something....bacause he can summon as many monsters as he likes bruh
2) If a GM sees that someones char is only good at one thing (lame and can be ruined with 1 immun, yes I agree) then he shouldnt ruin player's fun with that immunity, he should just work around it
@aifinka9227 I think you have it backwards.
The player is supposed to adapt.
To your point though, the GM should be adapting too.
@@jerryweston7552 if this happens at low levels yes player can adapt but at mid-high levels build are already complete and player cant really do much to adapt if GM pulls some shit out of his ass just to nerf one thing the player wanted to be good at while sacrificing anything else...
This inspires me to make a villain bard
The demon is now magically immune to being charmed and has infinite spell slots to cast counter spell
Asmodeus upon hearing this display wishes your head to invert
@@TheVercciYeah, he definitely wont be happy about this
I mean immunity to charm is very common tbf.
@@TheVercciMystra cackles as his Wish Spell fails, he is unable to cast it anymore, and takes psychic damage.
You say that bow, just wait intill the one guy corrupts that immunity or makes the holy flamer from 40k
Just make your demon immune to mind compulsory effects.
I feel like the new D&D was made specifically for powergamers. It pretty much ruins it for those who actually like being relatively weak for RP reasons
Why you ppl think that RP needs to be weak?
I mean Yeah DnD is made in a way where the Players are powerful and can (sooner or later) probably kill anything that is thrones against them. I wouldn't call this powergaming tho nor does this mean that this is opposed to RP. But yeah, if you want to play something in the style of i.e. Call of Cthulhu, where a guy with a knife has a good chance to off your character and Monsters should be avoided, you should probably not choose DnD.
Why would you think rp needs to always be about a power fantasy where every player has to be all powerful and always win?
@@lombrespike09reread the comment and find where they say it “needs,” to be weaker
DM: The demon's buddies focus fire on you.
I'm really starting to think they do dnt play rest ANY of these classes or subclasses.
Reminder, this ends the second a player hits the creature
@joshuapulliam7085 Yeah, but can he not just cast it again? Like immediately
my friend, the path to becoming a true master of this game lies in the realization that there wasn't any such thing as "playtesting for balance" in the first place.
welcome, to the true DM's world.
@@skefsongames Well, depending on the initiative order, the monster might still get an against between getting hit and getting charmed again. More importantly, while Command may be cast for free (which is absolutely bullshit, don't get me wrong), Charm Monster can not, and still costs a 4th level slot.
@@skefsongamesI guess if you’re ok to use multiple 4th level spell slots on at spell that the monster has advantage on, to keep this up, then ya. But I dunno, it feels like the order is:
Bard turn: HAHA! He’s stunned and prone!
Fighter: I have advantage? Awesome! (Hits the monster)
Monster (charm broken): gets up, granted at half movement, and stares daggers at the Bard
And ya, the Fighter can use a slow maneuver to cut speed, but it feels…fair? Like, there’s tons of counterplay here.
Why do I feel like a glamour Bard is now a member of the booty Warriors?
Okay demon now Toot It Up😂
honestly though, this is exactly the power fantasy I want for my bards
Glamour bard is already pretty damn fun like that.
"That's right. its literally nothing. and its not going to BE anything, either."
"It's not gonna BE your turn. ever."
- sans undertale
You can say that... "the devil's wear praga"
That's Glamor Bard Baby!
Don't need no new rules for that.
Makes the friends cantrip SO much more useful
@@frycook6396 Still gives you multiple turns of command. As long as your creative with it you'll be unstoppable
Oh no! I love this idea for my glamour bard
Glamour really got a glow up in 2024
And this is why you throw 3 demons at the bard, one to get glamoured, you to restrain the glamoured, and the third to break the bard.
"oh i forgot, he's got a legendary action"
and that's why you never have a single enemy as your parties enemy
Command is my favourite spell in the game. So excited to see "Command, the subclass"
Bro is using that miquella build 💀
So this is how I learned Charm Monster isn’t concentration.
Better than command word “defecate” or “disrobe” 😂
That's when the DM kills your character and tells you to "do better next time"
Bro you are the master!, you can say no!
The new rules are nuts. Some combos go insane. Elven Accuracy Piercer Champion being one of them
You take the Vex weapon mastery for rapier and shortbow (we will rely on rapier and shield, the shortbow is just so you have a ranged option even if its weaker).
Legendary action to choose to pass the save
What an interesting spell combination for the BBEG...
Looks like i'll be adding some legendary resistances to all my creatures.
'charm' ayo? 'command' ayo? 'I COMMAND HIM TO GROVEL' WHAT THE F-
I've played and run lots of different games over the years and I gotta say, the DM's exasperated energy in this one is my usual experience in D&D XD
This is when you go "whoops! Did I forget to mention the BBEG has a brother?"
My dm "so your never fighting humanoids again. Problem solved" 😂
There are 2 demons 💀
"Bring in the other two demons!!"
All bosses now have five clones of themselves. Have fun making ALL of them grovel.
Surely you can just introduce a monster completely immune to mind-affecting spells.
This is why im making my own ttrpg
100% just better to make your own thing and maybe even profit off it if it nice and clean.
Why give these wankers any coin?
