I honestly think the duel with Olgierd is one of the best scenes in The Witcher 3. The epic music, the atmosphere of the burning manor, and some of the best combat in RPGs. And the twist reveal? Masterclass in combining action-driven gameplay with story-driven narrative.
Dialogues, atmosphere and music is excellent but combat? It's trash imo, especially on higher difficulty level where you parry same attacks for like 10 minutes. There is nothing more to it than flashy animations
Combat in the witcher 3 is a low point. But Olgierd fight is high point, as it atually takes skill and requires you to learn. Parrying is useful unike most fights, dodges arent the end all-be all, and have to be spaced more, if you make the right dodge you can even sneak an attack behind Olgierd's defence, just like how in real sword fighting you search for openings after you opponent strikes.
its fight from* movie "Potop"- Kmicic vs Wolodyjowski. "Michał Wołodyjowski: Może chcesz waść zaczekać, aż siąpić przestanie. Żal umierać w taki deszcz. Andrzej Kmicic: Pułkownika będą chować, to i niebo płacze ..."
The fight against Olgierd is epic and bad ass and all that from Geralts pov but now imagine it from Olgierds pov. Guy is taking on a 100 year old Monster hunter whose trained with a sword for 9 decades , defeated the King of the Wild Hunt and all its generals, vampires, and the most powerful mages, not just in this world but from other worlds too..
I like how the confrontation with Olgierd helps set up the overarching theme of Hearts of Stone: "Be careful what you wish for..." Olgierd promised Geralt anything he wanted from the manor, so he set it on fire. Olgierd revealed not being able to die is not the same as living life forever. It made the DLC a lot more fun to try and look for the clever solutions. The ironic twists.
I don't know, but maybe after The Witcher 3 you should check out the fantastic Mass Effect series. For me, it's the source of a great story explanation.
You can sell the stuff in your stash too if you need money for the Runewright. Also craft bigger mutagens to boost your skills. Put them in the slots next to your selected skills
40:20 That, I do believe, is the darkest quest of the game. Not killed because he was a bandit, not because he was a solider, not because of political maneuvering, but just because a crazy old couple decided it was easier to murder and then eat him and their neighbors. That was very twisted, but at least Geralt handled it like he does all monsters, The Witcher's Way.
Hey Jade I just noticed you don’t use the White Raffard potion, imo it’s a lot better than Swallow! White Raffard will fully refill your health bar instantly while Swallow always takes a few seconds longer. Some of the enemies in the dlcs are pretty hard to beat so it will definitely be very useful to have on hand! Also just check the alchemy tab and see what kind of other potions/decoctions/oils/bombs are available to make and just make as much as you can, also try to upgrade them so their effects will improve, you never know when it might be useful so it’s always good to be prepared!
I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsushima for the third time, the first time on PS5 and the first time with the Iki Island DLC. I would also recommend it, especially since Ghost of Yotei is also due to be released in 2025. ☺️
Awesome job finishing the Witcher 3 and the dlc next on to the Witcher 2 you definitely have to check Detroit become humans. Your video makes my day with positivity and happiness
What I like about this game is how the game turns good and evil in places: you are such a good girl who stood up for a man and did not let his head be cut off and you are happy, but in fact you protected the man who arranged this arson and killed the owner of this house, and Olgerd sentenced him for his actions. In the end, you thought that you were doing good, but did the opposite. I love such missions in The Witcher, and in all 3 parts
@dcmastermindfirst9418 Not just slavic, there influences from Arthurian myth as well, since Sapkowski believes that all fantasy is based on Arthurian legends. He added a slavic setting but the structure of his short stories is a retelling of western (German, French and English) fairy talles
Games like this have their own "economy" that needs to be balanced: The money you can get in a playthrough has to be in a reasonable relation to the money you can spend to improve your character. If the balance (which also depends on the decisions of the player how much they want to spend!) doesn't really work out, developers can use gold sinks as an easy way to balance the books again. Some optional, very expensive game mechanics do the trick, like the rune wright, for example. Or the ability to farm gold, if the balance failed on the other end of the "economy". Think about it this way: You don't want the players to be forced to loot everything to be able to afford the stuff they need to win the game, on the other hand you want to reward players who loot more stuff by allowing them to spend their extra coin on some extra powers. 😉 Coming back to the cannabil village after a while is a very good idea! 🙂 The fight against Olgierd is probally the best dance against a single opponent in the game!

We all know

Ah yes Olgierd, my favourite character in any CDPR game. Such an fantastically complex character. And Gaunter O'Dimm, such an iconic villain.
1:13:40 There is a whole book about the story of Geralt's stolen swords. Released in 2013 with the Polish title "Sezon Burz".

These Order of the flaming rose guys are ridiculously tough!
Hearts of Stone is a rather dark story-driven DLC. Enjoy!
The Vivaldi bank is in the marketplace in Novigrad and you can exchange some of your money, which you need to do.
I swear BG3 got so much influences from this DLC. I mean the story between Mizora & Wyll, and also Raphael 👿 IYKWIM
A small hint that you are free to disregard since it is arguably back seating: what goes on in the DLCs stays in the DLCs.

Hi Jade hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Please! Use Aard to to push away barrels and other obstacles, you don't need to chop them with a sword!

Olgierd is a Lithuanian name
The entire Witcher universe is based in Slavic mythology
