    Made the habanero one today. Probably simmered for 2 1/2 hours before it was thick enough but didn't quite have the ketchup consistency and taste I was looking for. Added a 6oz can of tomato paste and it's PERFECT! Love this stuff.

    We tried this last night, I was a little hesitant to use THREE habineros but I did. Once it cooled down it wasn't crazy hot. Both are deliciousamd definitely worth a try, thanks chef Tom.

      Pickling Spice Recipe (1/4 cup)
      Ingredients
      1 tbsp coriander seeds
      1 tbsp black peppercorns
      1 tbsp mustard seeds
      1 tbsp red chile flakes
      1 tbsp allspice berries
      1 tbsp whole cloves
      1 tsp ground ginger
      1 tsp ground mace
      1 small cinnamon stick, crushed
      2 bay leaves, broken into pieces

    How would this freeze? And if not well, how long do you think it would keep in the fridge?

    Love the bloopers... is there a way to make it so it looks like the store bought. I love making things from fresh but as you know kids eat with their eyes first.

      @@jlee8348 its a condiment, not a meal. I've been blessed that my kids will try most things. I've found that if I can get it to look as good as it tastes I get a better response. I usually can tell if they like it but sometimes just because it doesn't look appealing they even of they like it they will say they don't.

      Save your old ketchup bottle and store it in there. Not only that then you will have the squeeze bottle for ease of use as well

    Yes its made with real ingredients but mainly, its the real sugar used that makes it. Most Ketchup/Katsup is made with corn syrup which is a manufactured sweetner.

    Sorry sent early. Try the fatali pepper. Heat is a litter more than the habenero but the flavor is so much better.
