@@pathway1 Japan has something in their water that makes lame characters hype. @@trollwholivesu7258 Yeah, in Ultimate, doing non-committal moves and playing safely, basically the opposite of hype, is how you win the game, and with how safe and non-committal Lucina is, she's hella boring.
I don't think that's a hot take. Each of the Underdogs kinda has their own niche to fill, with Z being high effort fast paced content, Hop being more layed back funny gameplay, and Poppt1 drawing more competitive players. If you sort by popular, his most popular videos are his tutorial videos and videos that teach you how to improve at the game. Sometimes, they do badly, but I feel that's often due to poor advertising or just bad luck more than anything (or say his bait and punish video, which failed likely due to its very slow paced nature and very unstructured format). It's good that each underdog can fill a certain niche, because it keeps their content more interesting.
Big fan of the breakdown videos. A glimpse into the mind of the Poppt1. Hearing the reasoning for different actions and what’s going on in your head while you’re playing is actually really helpful to someone trying to get better. The more I get into smash the more I’m realizing it’s a mind game more than anything and you’ve got the mind game down pat.
It's nice to hear some diffent music in your videos every now and then, hearing Mute city, Kass theme, Gerudo valley, Gangplank Galleon, Corneria and those type of music becomes a bit repetitive. Glad to hear some of Castlevania music! So underrated soundtrack!
I'm personally a huge fan of these kinds of videos. Since Lucina's not a "hype" character and has to play a lot of neutral, your take on neutral interaction is always interesting.
Honestly these are my favorite videos that you do. It's fun to see not just you playing seriously in tournaments but also your self scouting process of taking notes
In all honesty, tournament videos like this are my absolute favorite to watch! As someone who is trying to get ready for tournaments myself, it is so helpful to see the analysis of what you do and should do!
I honestly really like these sorts of analytical videos. I like the way you break down everything. I never realized how much thought goes into an option. And since I'm not that great at smash myself, I will always appreciate any tips. Thanks for the awesome vid Poppt!
I really like these types of vids. I've always been really into this kind of competitive play, so I hope to see more from the channel! Keep up the great work Poppt!
Man, I'm loving the tournament content! I really hope you can try out your pika in an offline tourney soon! I can tell you're enjoying Pika and would love to see you get more comfortable playing him!
Honestly these are some of my favorite videos of yours. Seeing you, a professional player trying his hardest is really fun to watch especially with you analyzing and explaining everything that happens :)
its interesting. despite being called a boring character, it think Lucina is incredibly fun to watch IF the player is analyzing the set. I think its because the fundamentals of the game can really shine through with the way the character works, and being able to see Poppt profit off of his game knowledge is actually really exciting. I think Lucina's playstyle actually makes these analysis videos a lot of fun to watch! Keep it up Poppt1!
Quick smash tip for newbies: Even though that dair to bair wasn't "true", technically it was true in the sense you couldn't escape it. The fastest option out of hitstun is double jump, and the bair caught the double jump the frame it came out, which means that an airdodge wouldn't have come out, and since the double jump couldn't have applied enough movement to dodge the bair, it was "true". There's a lot of interactions like that which I think new players shrug off because they believe everything needs to be true, often those are called frame traps, go google what frame traps your character has and have a lovely day.
I feel most of the audience won't know who he is, Smash players have a rep in the TFG community that they don't know Fighting Games outside of Smash, and clearly none of the Underdogs play TFGs, so he most likely won't know what Tekken even is despite being like... The third biggest fighting game in the world.
I mean top players know how to swap between playing like gods and playing like degenerates. Watching Tea or Maister smash attack 4 times in a row randomly is hilarious.
I love these types of video's, It not only shows us your thought process, but it also helps me as a tournament dweller how to react to certain things ill face in a tournament
I love this kind of analytical content and watching you talk out your thought process for decisions and how you could improve is both entertaining and interesting Also your Lucina is HYPE!
Good players have a good auto pilot to where they can focus more on the opponent then themselves. So they can pick up on their habits then change their gameplay to counter such as neutral getups into spot Dodges.
18:25 I think you could up-smash, but it would be a tight reaction window, and mega mans up special is hard to tell when it ends. I think Dolphin slash is probably the best option. Wouldn't kill but it would send him far off stage with enough time for you to edgeguard. But more importantly its your quickest/most guaranteed option
I love seeing the tournament videos, it’s the only way I’m going to see the smaller tourneys that you go to and I love seeing that way pros better themselves and I feel like I’m learning with you
I love how every other player would (at least for the video) just be happy with the win and brag on how clutch they are, but poppt's like, "I don't understand why I don't play well until the last game."
I love all your videos even the bait video which you said was not as popular. My favorite is your analytical videos such as this one. It is helpful to see how you take notes, point out what you are doing wrong, and adjust your play style. Thanks for the videos!
I really enjoyed this video, and while some people may not think Lucina is fun to watch personally i find her pretty satifying to watch, with the spacing and whatnot. And while it would be fun to see some other characters i don't think it's good to force yourself to play someone you don't want to. But yeah, hope you continue to make these types of videos, and that you don't feel pressured into switching off Lucina. Keep it up :)
