My mother always taught us that a lot of times the store brand is probably the same product as the national brand; all you’re doing in the latter case is paying for the name.
Same with Kirkland stuff at Costco. Most of its just as good. But one Great Value item that was miles better than the name brand was their peanut butter cups!! They were amazing and I really wish they’d bring them back! Best peanut butter cups I’ve ever had!
The thing is great value (wal mart) doesn't have manufacturing plants for these products. A lot of the times these private labels are rolling off the same production lines as the name brand products. I used to work on equipment in a lot of those plants and have seen them shut down a line to change the packaging and never change the product.
Very true. You could even read manufacturing information off some of these store brands and it'd be the same plant as a major brand. It's not just the same plant, it's the same product.
I buy great value everything. It might be Walmart budget brand, but honestly just about every single thing that they have is so close to the higher priced namebrand stuff so I figure I’ll save a little dough.
I actually think something changed since I was a kid and the off brands are literally the exact same as the name brands now. Either that or the pro-name brand brainwashing I received as a kid wore off when I became a broke and on my own 20something. I laugh at name brand people now. I go to great lengths to avoid them with the exception of a handful that *have* to be that particular brand
Protip: Don’t sleep on the Great Value flavored coffees either. The Creme Brûlée and Pecan Praline flavors are fantastic. And half the price of most other popular flavored brands like Dunkin and Starbucks.
I tried the Great Value ice cream! I might just leave Blue Bell and Blue Bunny behind. 1.99$ for a pint of mint chocolate chip? AND it tastes great? I'm sold!
Walmart? They just buy it and label it as GV. Ever see a Walmart Bakery, Fish boat, Walmart ANYTHING outside of a Walmart Store? They buy in BULK. Get the cheapest price they can from any manufacturer and label it "GV". Get real people. 🤣
Some items I personally recommend. Great Value apple juice, Great Value milk, Great Value chocolate milk, Great Value cheese balls, Great Value cookies, Great Value meatballs, Great Value chicken nuggets, Great Value burritos, Great Value hamburgers of various types, Great Value ice cream and ice cream products, Great Value salsa in the square jars (usually black bean and corn, and a few others), and the Great Value small squeeze bottles of condiments, such as various mustards, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, sweet and sour sauce, etc. The Great Value Doritos-style chips are alright, but just a tiny bit thicker then Doritos... they taste fine, but more a thing of an almost imperceptible difference in texture. The Great Value potato chips are also good, but, again, the textures might be different from whatever name brands you might be used to.
For Nutella I'd go with the Kirkland (Costco brand) over the original nutella and the Walmart one... the latter contain palm oils and the Kirkland one has sunflower oil...it's still oil but far less bad for you than Palm oil.
I buy a lot of GV products and they are usually as good as the name brand. I never understand people who pay for name brand milk. It is the same stuff as the store brand.
Sometimes store brand is just as good as the main brand, I always get the Kroger or Walmart peanut butter and the same with milk, it’s just better though i do know there are some foods that store brand don’t quite get right and that is when main brand comes in.
I buy Great Value products often my favorites are French Roast ground coffee, Great Value Restaurant Style Italian Dressing, Great Value NO Calorie Sweetener just to name a few. You know what's gonna happen when more people start buying GV products than the name brand the suits at Wal-Mart will raise the prices 🤨
Actually Wal-Mart refuses to raise their Prices on the Great Value & Store Brand Stuff too high as it may go up a few cents but never go up a dollar or more. Cause that has been Wally's Motto to keep Prices Lower so you don't have to shop elsewhere
What really stood out was the Great Value Bite Sized chips are just as good as Tostitos! Have to also agree that the bite size chips are the perfect size! Hope to see a review on your top 10 cereals soon!
One thing I wish they had again was a Churro chips ala Doritos style. I bought it there once and never saw it again. Admittedly the corn chip might not have had the best taste, but never really had a chance to get used to it.
Can you please make a video Albertson's store brand, ( Signature ) also Kroger's store brand too? I know here in Texas H.E.B. store brand for peanut butter is much better than Jif, or Skippy's peanut butter... I Wish Wal Mart would have "ENGLISH BREAFAST TEA." and more black teas...
Weird thing about the great value brand of milk in my area vs other areas. The milk at Walmart is cheaper than Aldi's, Kroger's, Sam's Club, or even Target's milk
Most chips yes, but nothing is equal to Doritos for flavored tortilla chips, there is just something about the seasoning balance nobody can get right. Plus generic queso doesn't taste and have the consistency as Tostitos.
I dont mind you selling product but can you just use description video to show your ads ? And not shown every product in the corner video every item you shown ?
Stay away from GV green beans. They are consistantly low quality and tasteless. This isn't just my opinion. I got the same from a part time caterer who also works part time at my local Walmart. The rest of their canned vegetables are as good as any other brand imo.
@@BabbleTop They are much better than any other house brand of chips, around here. My favorite chips were Mikesell's, made in Dayton, Ohio but they recently went out of business. Most house brands are sliced thicker than the GV ans even those are thicker than the Mikesell's
Don't sleep on GV almond milk, breakfast sausage and eggs. They are all things that I always keep in my home and so many more things, a lot of times the off-brand foods aren't such a bad idea to buy because they don't taste much different than the original foods. Even some of GV's household stuff like paper towels, tissue, air freshener and trash bags are good items to buy and are close to the name brand stuff or just as good as it.
My mother always taught us that a lot of times the store brand is probably the same product as the national brand; all you’re doing in the latter case is paying for the name.
I agree except on dishsoap, I'd always choose Dawn over store brand as it always seemed to take twice the amount to get the same clean as Dawn.
I can't find any sandwich cookie that tastes remotely close to oreo. That is one thing I always need name brand.
@@COMPFUNK2 My grandma use to say the same thing. You're only paying for the name.
Yup. Walmart is a miracle.
Far, far better than Target, IMHO.
Same with Kirkland stuff at Costco. Most of its just as good. But one Great Value item that was miles better than the name brand was their peanut butter cups!! They were amazing and I really wish they’d bring them back! Best peanut butter cups I’ve ever had!

@camaronshoultz6137 Really? I'm tempted to give them a try. Any other Great Value gems you'd recommend?😉
I Am Embarrassed to Say! Those Put Reeces to Shame!!!
Kirkland batteries 🔋 are great also..The double A and triple A batteries.
I'll second that Great Value coffee is surprisingly good. It smells amazing and is fairly finely ground.
The thing is great value (wal mart) doesn't have manufacturing plants for these products.

More often than not I prefer WM brand.
I actually think something changed since I was a kid and the off brands are literally the exact same as the name brands now. @chiarosuburekeni9325 Spot on! Great Value is the secret weapon against overspending. Quality without the hefty price tag. 👍💵
@lifeasthesmjs695 Nice choice! WM brand often hits the sweet spot between quality and savings. 👌💰
Okay soi worked at Walmart….be careful because the frozen foods and fresh foods sits in the isles for a very long time…..
Great value, brand cookies, like caramel delights, thin, mints, and bear lemon varieties, taste extremely similar to Girl Scout cookies.
Protip: Don’t sleep on the Great Value flavored coffees either. The Creme Brûlée and Pecan Praline flavors are fantastic. And half the price of most other popular flavored brands like Dunkin and Starbucks.

@LewisZwarteLeeuwUS Wow, what a deal! Great Value ice cream at $1.99 for mint chocolate chip? That's a steal! 🍦
There are a select few things where the “name brand” is head and shoulders just better…the vast majority of items you can’t tell a difference.
@athanasiusofalexandria4304 Agreed! There are a few kings in the brand game, but most items, it's hard to spot the difference.
Walmart? They just buy it and label it as GV. Ever see a Walmart Bakery, Fish boat, Walmart ANYTHING outside of a Walmart Store? They buy in BULK. Get the cheapest price they can from any manufacturer and label it "GV". Get real people. 🤣
Saying your coffee taste as good as Starbucks isn't saying much. There's a reason they hide the flavor in all that cream and sugar.
@aniE1869 True, Starbucks coffee can be strong! What's your preferred coffee choice?

I completely understand why people choose Great Value items instead of name brands. In some cases, it tastes just as good or better 😁
@motownman383 Exactly! Great Value has some hidden gems that taste amazing. 😁
I really like the taste of their Great Value "Chick-fil-A" sauce as opposed to the real Chick-fil-A sauce.
my son and I were just talking about how the great value jalapeno chips taste better than Lay's.
I googled Great Value Peanut butter, and found it's made for Wal Mart by Peter Pan. Interesting.
@CraigLillie No way! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing that nugget of info!😄
my family lives off the cantina style great value tortilla chip and chewy chocolate chip cookies. They are hands down our household's favorite snacks.
