      Not economic to spend this much on a knackered car for a normal person, better to spend that on a better car. This is just free marketing for the companies involved.

      @@overland-workshop what I mean is that they’re not paying vast sums to feature in a video like on the 24/7 channel - they donate products and you feature them in your films. That’s a fair exchange 👍🏻

      The cost of this runs on two levels. It’s borderline restoration level of a classic car done by mechanics combined with a modern day touring fit out on top. Astronomical.

    My technical question is: what about the top part of the chassis? The part that is facing the bottom of the body? In Land Rovers that's the part that can be rusting and to do a proper job the only way to go is to lift the body and work on the top of the chassis as well.

    I’m curious with the amount of labor it seems is going into this build why the body and drivetrain weren’t removed and the vehicle wasn’t completely stripped down to the frame? Honest question as I have no experience in these matters. Just seems from an outside perspective that it might have been easier and yielded better results for the chassis treatment and body work/painting.

      I lived in SA for 38 years. There is not a single proper off-road shovel available. Go to the US, Australia, Europe and there are tons of them. When I lived in SA I actually had to make my own! The ones available look okay but they are awful.

    Listen, I love your work and I appreciate that you have the financial means and backing to be able to do what you do because of your history you deserve to have these Rewards
    Would it be possible that you may upload content for the general community of four-wheel drivers that have a very limited budget to put together an overlanding vehicle
    You helped build a budget four-wheel drive for your daughter and her partner a while ago.

    get an electric go green save planet. avoid emmission

    • @overland-workshop
      @overland-workshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An electric car does not avoid emissions if the energy used for charging the batteries comes from fossil fuels. Undeniable logic. Electric car reduces emissions during the car's operation because of no exhaust gases, but it increases emissions during building, and disposal. The question MUST be asked: What is the carbon footprint of the car from its birth to its dismantling? Driving electric sends the right message but does not actually contribute to 'saving the planet'. Spend the money on solar on your house if you really want to make a contribution.

    • @ChadFoster-pz4qu
      @ChadFoster-pz4qu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@overland-workshop These questions have been answered, but the powers that oppose it don’t want to hear it.
      Generating electricity even with fossil fuel is more efficient then using it to move individual vehicles
      Material extraction for one battery is a one time thing because batteries can be recycled, fossil fuel extraction is 24/7
      Like you said on the road they are emissions free and also much more thermally efficient then a combustion engine
      At the end of life all vehicles regardless of type of power are being recycled anyway, but with combustion cars we can’t recover the fuel that was used.
