    Great build video. I am doing mine now. Thanks for taking the time to do it. You did scare the heck out of me when you installed the prop while the plane was powered. Please be careful. I have seen some rally damaged hands this past year from inadvertent power up.

    I just assembled my Big Foot. My kit came with the electronics already installed. No Y connectors included. I did the best I could with what I was given. QUESTION for you: where can I get different "softer" tires? Any ideas or suggestions?????? Great video by the way. The electrical connections are a bit confusing. Some kits come with servos installed, other's come with them not installed. I had the latter version. I had a devil of a time getting the wires connected.

    Only thing I did different was put a block of foam in the body cavity to raise the RX to where it’s much more accessible. Also Dubro wheels for a, hopefully, softer landing!!

Funny part with the tail wheel screw, I was following the manual and just completely missed the step. The Arrows Husky Special Edition I just got also has the tail wheel retention screw but it is NOT in the manual to put it in. I knew better the second time around. 👍

    I was using a Spektrum receiver whose servo leads came into to side, not the top. Made mounting the receiver a B*****. I also used servo extensions. I ended up gluing in a flat piece of thin wood to the underside of the opening to mount the receiver. It worked. Otherwise, the build went smoothly. This is the first plane I have bough since the mid 90's when I left the hobby.

But I am after a plane that I can actually learn to take off n land.. I've missed that in my learning journey....time to learn a different sort of flying/aspect to the hobby.

    Thanks for the box-n-build video. I plan to hit the road soon & would love to take a few planes on the road with me and fly wherever I happened to be. Since space is a premium in an RV, they would need to be broken down to some basic configuration; hoping that just removing the wings on each of them would be enough to safely pack them & save space. Do you think this plane will hold up over time using it like that?

    • @TheRCAirMarshall

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bill, what type of receiver are you using? It sounds like you either have a bind button that is stuck, or maybe you’re leaving the bind plug in? If it uses a bind plug, once you have bound the receiver you need to remove it or it will go into binding mode every time you power it on. If it’s a stick bind button try pressing it a few time to see if it will loosen up.

    Hello Dave, I am about to start my adventure into the Big Foot... after getting some confidence (I am a veeeeery beginning!! - beginner!) and I just managed to take off, land and control a 3-channel starter Cessna F949. I even installed flaps which made me control it better, and knowing that the Big Foot has flaps... that gives me confidence.
    Now, my main concern and I was wondering if you could give me your input on that is "stabilizers"... The little Cessna F949 has automatic stabilizers... and sometimes when I take that "auto stabilizers" off... I almost always crash! Of course now I am taking a lot of altitude in order to practice... but litte wind and I am out... Now with the flaps is a bit better... but still. So I wanted to know if I am kind of in high danger of crashing this? and if I do... will it be resistant? I know it is not comparable the resistance of the little Cessna to this, but if I crash it, that will be it?
    As well, I am going to get my very fist sender... I am thinking on a DX8 thinking on the following aircrafts...
    Your input will be very highly appreciated!
    By the way, your videos are the best of many broadcasters I have watch in the last months. You look serious without loosing fun and very much natural, which gives a lot of confidence. You speak very clear, very elocuate and precise. Looking forward to watch all videos you have posted! :) And will happily watch new videos! Your production assistant is really great too! :) Regards from a Mexican in Germany.

    Airmarshall , Nice unboxing and build of the Bigfoot 1300mm, is the safe system in that Bigfoot similar to the As3x in the horizon hobby RC Planes?

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bigfoot doesn’t come with any kind of AS3X unless you get a newer one. This one did not have any receiver. The new ones come with a gyro but you still need a separate receiver unless you buy the ready to fly model. With a 7 channel receiver you can set them up to be very similar to AS3X, yes

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRCAirMarshall Wish I had a way to post a photo so I could show you. Yes, the ESC has four wires leading to the RX, three end in your standard servo plug and the one yellow one that ends in a single servo plug - I've only seen single plug servo plugs once before - just don't know what this one should plug into.

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paul Moore is the wire on the plug in the Signal wire position? If so, this MAY be a reversing ESC, and the additional wire would be for a reversing channel. That is one possibility. It could also be for an external programming card. I would need more information about the ESC to be sure. As I mentioned, the ESC that came with mine doesn’t have that extra wire so this has me curious.

    Hi, I know this is three years old but I’m hoping someone will be able to help me with this question. I’m a complete newbie to this hobby, and most of its components and terminology. I’ve bought this exact model and as yet not attempted an assembly, I’m interested in doing the two modifications on the wiring, namely using a different Y wiring harness and the longer extension for the lights so I can remove the wing’s easily if needed. I’ve looked on model sites, and even where I bought it from on line and I can’t feel confident in correctly choosing the correct ones, what exactly do I need, connector types etc. thank you Dave

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Servo connections these days are fairly universal. If you get servo extensions / Y harnesses with a JR/Spektrum style plug, they will work for nearly every application. What you want to keep in mind is the wire coloring scheme. For every servo lead you will have 3 wires. Ground, power, and signal. Your ground will usually be either black or brown, power will almost always be red, and the with the signal, sometimes you’ll see the signal wire be white, orange, yellow… So when you’re plugging things in, especially when there are adapters involved, just make sure you’re plugging in your leads correctly. Ground to ground, power to power, signal to signal. Outside of that, shouldn’t be too difficult.

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just wired in my brain like that. Spektrum receivers and Transmitters set flaps to channel 6 by default and gear to channel 5. It would take a few extra steps in the radio programming for me to change the flaps to channel 5

  • @G56AG
    @G56AG 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Generally good with the exception of a major safety violation. You mounted the prop with the system powered up. The safety guys are constantly reminding us to NEVER work on a plane that is hot with the battery plugged in without removing the prop first. Most of us are guilty of a similar mistake, hopefully your injuries were minor, but just this week one of our club members was injured badly enough he had to go to the Emergency Room for stitches after he made that mistake. You set an example for many less experienced pilots to follow, hopefully we all set a good example for those just learning.

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re absolutely correct. Normally if I do something like that, I preface it with a disclaimer that the prop should always be removed. This was a big oversight by me in the beginning of our TH-cam journey. I get that I have a responsibility to the community and will try to make safety a priority. Thanks for the great catch and feedback, very appreciated!

    • @G56AG
      @G56AG 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheRCAirMarshall I figured it was an oversight, but having personally injured in that kind of situation, I thought it important to be pointed out. I like the power of the Bigfoot a little better compared to the original Timber. The Turbo Timber on 4S has that extra power on tap which is nice. Between the Turbo Timber and the Bigfoot, I would go Turbo Timber. Between Original Timber and Bigfoot, I would go Bigfoot. Now, if you’re buying the Timber to use with floats, it’s a not brainer. The Bigfoot does not have optional floats available. Hope that answer helps. Thanks for the question!

I kinda want to get a t28 again but i want a bush style plane. I want a good landing gear, stol plane that i can put big tires on and fly it anywhere. My choices are
      1. Eflite Turbo timber
      2. Eflite timber x
      3. Fms kingsher (because it has skis )
      4. Fms beaver
      And now i want this bigfoot and husky.. looks are great and i bet they would be really great with a biger esc to run 4s.

    • @TheRCAirMarshall
      @TheRCAirMarshall  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a Spektrum Transmitter, getting the Turbo Timber I believe is a better choice. Already has floats, and is already 4S capable. The tires are substantially softer than the Bigfoot as well. The receiver in the Timber is a big selling point IMO. If you already have a receiver, the big Arrows RC Husky is a great choice. It’s float ready, 4S ready, 1800mm airframe so it’s gonna fly great. Hard tires on the Husky as well. So... Spektrum transmitter with no receiver? Get the Turbo Timber. Non-Spektrum user or you have a receiver ready to go, grab the Husky and get some softer tires (grand tundra tires). That’s my thinking.
