I have found these videos wonderful. I find it so hard to understand the Bailey readings and as a father and a school teacher I only have so much time to devote to trying to study. One aspect I wonder about that might be a misinterpretation is that mystical visions are just tripping out. Often they reflect your shadow and how you might be extroverting personality components - so if you can understand the symbology and integrate it you develop spiritually and your mystical experiences change. Though I never chased mystical experiences, things just went suddenly crazy for me when I turned 42 blowing up my materialist world view. I suspect we would however be unusual if we didn’t go through some kind of unhealthy detachment after mystical experiences because of the questions they open up and the perspectives that change in your mind making you wonder yet again what is the meaning of all this, what’s the purpose of the physical. Asking these questions seems natural and perhaps necessary to moving forward.
I am glad these videos are useful to you and thank you for your feedback. The Bailey teachings are horribly hard to understand and that is part my mission to organize and clarify them -- even then I know I probably have missed some things and will need to make some corrections once again. As for mystical visions being just tripping out.... this video is talking about when they become dysfunctional and lead to a misguided tendency to withdraw from the world. Mystical experiences in general are part of being on the path. Bailey (and other spiritual teachings) indicates that we need both the mystic (heart approach) and the occultist (more scientific and head approach) to remain balanced on the spiritual path. Setting that aside, I agree that some mystical experiences reflect the shadow and extraverted personality components. I like how you put that and this would (is?) a worthwhile addition to the field of esoteric or spiritual psychology. A long time ago I developed what I called an Esoteric Psychology casebook full of "vignettes" or scenarios of various spiritual psychology problems and asked my students to give their ideas as to what might be going on. Your comment reminds me of that. I also like what you said about it being unusual if we did not go through some kind of unhealthy detachment as yes, these experiences can be hard to integrate especially if we have no access to understanding them. In conclusion, great comments! I highly appreciate them.
To let you know I found this summary in some of my notes this morning.... Group 8: Accepting, Pledged, and Accepted Disciples.... though this would apply more to Pledged and Accepted Disciples... First, those in this group have a sense of their life work and how it aids manifestation of the "Divine Plan." ... Also, this summary from Rule Five in Treatise on White Magic.... That they are 1) Free from depression, 2) Liberated from discouragement, 3) Have a keen sense of proportion, 4) Live a regulated life, 5) Have a disciplined life and control of the physical body, 6) Are devoted to humanity. ... I would also add that they regularly know how to be in Sa-Vitarka Samadhi and possibly even Sa-Vicara Samadhi. Bailey also says that they are busy consciously adjusting their karma, have awakened the light in the head, and are actively engaged with service to the world. Gosh... this sounds like notes for when I get busy on that booklet! I hope this helps. Thanks again for your feedback on this.
Thanks, and I am glad you are interested. Group 8 has overcome the "4 D's" and is working on overcoming glamours, is learning what is called "white" (or Soul) magic. They are also learning the higher levels of samadhi. (Please see my series on Understanding Samadhi). Their minds are better trained and they are more absorbed in trying to understand what Bailey calls the "Divine Plan." That "plan" involves an increasingly globalized consciousness. They also have a more disciplined and purified life. To let you know, as I type this I am working on a series I am calling Soul Magic (because I feel the words "white magic" are dated). I hope to have that video series appear here soon.
