I seriously hope they can put this amount of gameplay into a proper V-pet some day. It would be great to play and go camping with a Digimon that you hatched from an egg.

It could be like Pocket Digimon World but in color, with all the areas of file island and all the minigames and battles given the same attention to detail that they were given in the Digivice 25th. I haven't ever played pocket Digimon World but it looks like the Digimon you raise actually talks to you quite a bit. It would be amazing if they manage to add voice clips for all those, though I'm not sure how much of that could fit on a device like that. It would be great to have a V-pet with a really fleshed out story mode. I get that it all still boils down to clearing areas, but dialogue clips of Jijimon and some cutscenes would give the areas you're clearing some context. Like Humulos said, the Digivice 25th pretty closely follows the plot of the anime. It would be great to get a Digimon World style story inside of a v-pet, I think.
I'd really love to see some of the interactions from this device translate to future v-pets. Being able to do more than just train and battle would go a long way.
Really hoping they give the same treatment to the D-ark so we can finally properly slash cards! Like the SCSA one except there's actual gameplay and not just sound effects!
Hate that they remove the stats system. The battle felt like playing a Tamagotchi's mini game. But love all those sounds, music, and cutscenes. Playing this thing felt like watching an anime again.
Honestly, I really like what they did here, but I really wish they put in just a little bit more effort into the gameplay. As-is, there really is little to no strategy involved, and it's just mindless grinding. Even with previous Digivice toys, we had a choice of multiple actions to take each turn such as swapping between partners. The only real gameplay that's on offer takes the form of the three mini-games that are pretty much always winnable if you aren't distracted. Also wish they tied unlocking digivolutions to the story. There really is no reason to swap partners after unlocking all the digivolutions of one partner. Having digivolutions tied to story progression would add even more motivation to progress through the story and make it even more faithful to the show. Interestingly enough, the US/Western Digivice toys always had really good gameplay, and it's a shame that the developers didn't borrow more from them.
Sad Tri and Kizuna content aren't represented, but I understand why that could be, i.e. the next version, storage concerns, more time to develop and possible tight deadlines, etc.
I watched this before my Tai Digivice arrived, and now watching it after a few days of playing and now I REALLY appreciate your review! It's been so much fun, and surprisingly it hasn't fallen off my belt/pocket like I remember my original doing every time I went out!
So helpful. Couldn’t figure out why my Bond levels weren’t going up the more evolutions I unlocked. Didn’t realize it would take more victories to fill in one meter on the Bond screen the higher in evolution stages I got. Now this makes sense. Thanks!

I like your videos very informative! Btw 188k plus step and haven't realized yet you don't have to shake the digivice that hard to get the walking animation. This digivice is very sensitive so you have to slightly shake to get the steps to count.
Waiting for mine to arrive! I think they dropped the ball on not giving us Tri and Kizuna content, if I’m being honest, but I’m still excited for it! I hope we get the DMX devices in Colour, and the Tamers version of this device one day.

But I love the fact that they used digivolution, over evolution. Makes me wonder if we get a D3, would we get DNA digivolution over jogress?

From a production standpoint, I suspect the reason why this Digivice doesn't cover tri. or Kizuna is because of the decision to incorporate some of the features from the Super Complete Selection Animation replicas (like music and voice acting). If you stick with the original series, everything's consistent with itself, but once you include the modern stuff, suddenly you're dealing with multiple versions of "brave heart", conflicting art styles, 24 voice actors instead of 16, etc. It might have been too much trouble. Personally, I'm thankful that tri. and Kizuna aren't present. (Although I will admit, I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I also would have preferred for everyone's final forms to be included, as well as Nyaromon and Plotmon.)
Id love to see them advance digimon into a new device. I just recently got into digimon for the first time with the color ver 3. Im already addicted. However, my gf next to me will be playing on her tama uni for hours and hours doing all types of things. Probably farfetched but i think they could do it and it would be a hit.

I didn't quite understand the Bond thing. Can someone explain how it works. Also, how do you unlock Champion for the first time as bond doesn't seem to be impacted by winning with a rookie? Like do you have to beat so many battles? If so, how many? Also, Is Gatomon Veedramon and Wizardmon treated as Champion (in terms of power level) and Angewomon treated as Ultimate? And so basically WarGreymon and MetalGaru is strongest and the other Digimon can't reach that power level (I understand they don't reach Mega, but like they won't reach that power output even just for the sake of the game play?

Great review! Very detailed! How do feel about the sunken display as compared to the Ver.Complete or Ver.15th. Does it bother you? Is it noticeable or distracting?
It's not distracting, but it does bother me. I would have preferred it to be closer to the rim with the borders, but functionally this works just fine.
For the camp items , are they only unlockable from specific events/ battles ? I still have some missing camp items even after completing the game unlocking Vdramon as well.

They will not. That was a pre-planned feature on the BE and operated via SD Card. The USB port on the Digivice Color (and all other Digimon devices with USB ports) does not support any data transfer.

It’s a different anime show prior to digimon called witchelny they even had four virtual pets back in the day looking like grimoires each containing a witch with their respective elements water fire wind and earth if I ain’t mistaken those are so darn expensive if you can find a copy (especially a whole set) now a days 😅
As a teen I’ve made the gravest mistake stupid mistake I was walking on a black market and there was a full set of 0.50 cents a piece knowing now the value and me not having made that purchase back than haunted me to this day especially since I have always been a fan/collector of every v-pet and all things digimon as a child I found them to girly girly for my taste hence I passed on the purchase and still regret it so much to this day 😅😮
