    *sigh*. Why am I so obsessed with people hearing PTX songs for the first time? I literally search everyday. It helps me re-live my first time.. almost sh*ting myself when I heard what they could do. Thank god I was already on the toilet... Welp, here’s a new sub.

    Time for the PTX info dump:
    Pentatonix or PTX began with the trio in the middle, Scott, Mitch, and Kirsten, these three have known each other since they were very young two of them did theatre together from the age of ten and all three of them attended the same high school and were in choir together.
    In 2011, Scott asked Mitch and Kirsten to take part in an A Capella competition that was on ABC called the Sing Off, but in order to compete they must have at least five members. Scott found Avi (the original bass of PTX) through his university and Kevin (the beatboxer) due to a TH-cam video he made that went viral of him Cello-Boxing (Kevin is also a classically trained cellist and every now an then his cello will make an appearance in a PTX song), and the rest is history. PTX is now a three time Grammy winning A Cappella group and has over a billion views on TH-cam
    Members:
    Scott Hoying, Baritone, tall blonde in the center that started the song. He will take over the bass line when the bass takes the lead, but can also go pretty high, he has a huge range.
    Mitch Grassi, Counter-Tenor, second male singer. This song show cased Mitch's low register, but he can actually hit the rafters and often actually sings the highest notes in their arrangements. (and yes it is always him, Mitch's looks are always changing)
    Matt Sallee, Bass, He replaced PTX's original bass, Avi Kaplan, at the end of 2017, and although he has a super deep voice he can also sing beautifully in the tenor range. (Avi Kaplan left the group amicably in 2017 due being exhausted from constant touring and because his mother had been diagnosed with cancer)
    Kirsten Maldonado, Mezzo-soprano, the only female in the group, and another chameleon that constantly changes her looks. She has a beautiful and powerful voice.
    and finally we have,
    Kevin Olusala, Beatboxer, Cellist, and when he sings he is a high tenor. PTX wouldn't be who they are today without him, he his amazingly talented.
    Hidden 6th member is Ben Braum, PTX along with Ben do all of the arranging of their songs, Ben is behind the scenes helping with the arrangements and fine tuning of all of their music.
    You literally cannot go wrong with any PTX song that you chose to react to, they are all amazing.

    83M is a drop in the bucket for some of their songs. Hallelujah has nearly 500 million views. As I'm sure someone else has already said, no Scott (the first singer) is not the bass. He does cover bass when the bass is singing the lead. If you want to hear base, start with Hallelujah. Anything before 2018 will have Avi Kaplan, a basso profundo and classically trained opera singer. After that, it's Matt Sallee (the fellow on left end).

    WARNING ! ! BE CAREFUL WITH COPYRIGHT ISSUES. This group's record label is RCA/Sony and it and TH-cam are very protective of their work. You will have to pause, etc. a lot to avoid getting blocked. Fortunately, those who follow PTX are very understanding about the need to do this.

    Ok little Pentatonix factoids, Mitch (tenor) Scott (Baritone) and Kirsti (Mezzo Rhymes with thirsty) grew up together and sang together at least since high School I think it was earlier. They wanted to be on the show the sing-off but the rules required more than three singers. So they went lookin for additional members. The found Kevin on the internet doing some beatboxing, The original bass of the group Avi they found through a friend. The were unable to meet up in person until one day before the audition. They won season three of the sing-off. There is lots more to their story but they now have won 3 Grammys. Their Daft Punk Medley won the their first, Dance of the sugar plum fairies was second then they did Jolene with Dolly Partin for their third. They have a guy that has worked with them arranging some of their songs (Ben Bram I think is his name.) Most reactors hit Halleluiah their version has over a half a billion views yes I said billion. They very recently come out with a cover of Amazing Grace that will just kill you. Ok I'm done that was a really good reaction thanks for doing it. Oh sorry last thing Matt the guy in the white coat replaced Avi as Bass. Avi had a serious illness in his family and didn't feel comfortable being on the road as much as the group was. Avi found Matt for them and has some amazing original songs, to this day they are all great friends.

    Penta = 5 to represent the number of members. Left to right in the video: Matt (Bass) - he took over from another bass (Avi) in 2017 and this has been the only member change; Kirstin; Scott - isn't the bass but covers bass when Matt/Avi have solo parts; Mitch - the voice of an angel; Kevin - the person that swallowed a drum machine haha. I've seen them in concert 3 times and they are my favorite group. The staples that people react to are Hallelujah (gotta be close to 600 million views by now), Daft Punk (won a Grammy) and Bohemian Rhapsody (crazy good!). Some people can't believe they can do it live so I suggest either Hallelujah (TV Christmas special) or Aha Singapore Star Vista. There is a phenomenon that happens every time a new youtuber discovers Pentatonix. They go into it not knowing what they are going to hear but with high hopes. Then comes the moment where all 5 join their harmonies and the reviewer's face does this "What did I just hear?" look, which only leaves them completely up a creek without a paddle when the power of their combination shows up. THEN comes the moment when Mitch, the little guy with the amazing voice and range blows up their headphones, ears and minds.
    I simply love watching new reviewer's reactions when the wonder of what they are hearing just leaves them breathless and questioning "OMG" what did I just experience?" state of mind. I sit here, listening to what they say and anticipating those moments when Pentatonix just overwhelms all expectations and leaves them about to be sunk even further into the rabbit hole of Pentaholism. There's no escape and really no desire to escape, since one can NEVER hear too much of this remarkably talented group. They make you forget there are NO instruments, save for their voices!

    Pentatonix (abbreviated PTX) is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying (baritone & does some bass), Mitch Grassi (tenor), Kirstin Maldonado (mezzo-soprano), Kevin Olusola (vocal percussion), and Matt Sallee (bass -the guy in the white jacket). Matt replaced original bass member Avi Kaplan in 2017(he will be the guy with the beard and mustache in their earlier videos). Kirstin and Mitch change their looks sometimes, so you may not recognize them at first in their videos, but it is them. There was only one member change. Characterized by their pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion, and beatboxing, they produce cover versions of modern pop works or Christmas songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with original material. Pentatonix formed in 2011 and subsequently won the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, an accapella competition show. They have already won 3 Grammy Awards and are considered the best in the world. I would recommend your next video to watch would be Hallelujah, a video that has over 571 million views...th-cam.com/video/LRP8d7hhpoQ/w-d-xo.html

    Scott Hoying, the guy who started is a baritone, but he gets into tenor on the higher parts and covers bass when the bass (Matt Sallee) is on a solo.
    The second lead was the counter-tenor Mitch Grassi. The mezzo with the golden vibrato is Kirstin Maldonado. Kevin Olusola is the amazing beat boxer, tenor and cellist.
    They do wonderful arrangements. Try Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody or Mary Did You Know. If you like EDM or dance club music, then try Daft Punk and Love Again. You will see a different bass, Avi Kaplan, in the songs up to 2017. He is an amazing basso profundo.

    • @ailawil89
      @ailawil89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the love of Pentatonix, please research what a counter-tenor is. Mitch is NOT a counter-tenor (although he can be). A counter-tenor is typically a bass or baritone who sings in the contralto or mezzo-soprano ranges with their falsetto. You can Google famous counter-tenors and listen to them. You'll see immediately that it's so different from what Mitch does.

    • @wendillon92
      @wendillon92 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ailawil89 Mitch is most definitely a countertenor. Some countertenors are using falsetto to reach those ranges, others like Mitch reach it using their natural voice. There is confusion since Europeans tend to use the word differently than the rest of the world, but officially Mitch IS a contra tenor.

    • @ailawil89
      @ailawil89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wendillon92 Well, here’s the issue: countertenor is NOT a voice type in the fach system. And when we say “voice type,” we’re typically referring to the voice types in the fach system of classification.
      Professional countertenors themselves see it as a particular way of singing. There are interviews you can read and watch. I can direct you to a couple of them if you’d like.

    • @wendillon92
      @wendillon92 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ailawil89 That's great but the Fach system is German and isn't widely used outside of Europe, and when it is used outside Europe it's used for opera singers. The voice type system we use in the rest of the world divides women into " soprano, mezzo-soprano, and contralto" and men into " countertenor, tenor, baritone, and bass". Pentatonix is American, only makes sense we'd stick to their local classification method when talking about their voice types.

    • @wendillon92
      @wendillon92 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ailawil89 I'm going to assume you mean Kennedy and not Kenny, unless the Kenny center also exists. In which case you might want to take another look as the Kennedy Center uses the term counter-tenor or contra-tenor quite frequently when speaking about high range tenors.

    I'm new (about 5 weeks) into the "world of reactions." I've been a Pentaholic since mid 2018, so their stunning ability isn't new to me. I 'stumbled' upon reaction videos looking for Pentatonix covers. I first saw YOUR reaction to this song (as your introduction to PTX) several weeks ago, and immediately subscribed. I love your heartfelt, authentic reactions and opinions! I was just watching THIS reaction again (for about the 4th time) because I LOVE seeing how this group stunned you. I particularly liked your exaggerated "T" at the end of the "Holy Shi" in the beginning. 😉 For some reason, listening this time prompted me to write and tell you how great this reaction is! I hope you see this comment, as the clip is a year and a half old! Keep reacting! You're great!

    Matt (white jacket ) is the usual bass, but Scott (who opened) can go low as well. If you see Matt singing in a higher register, but you still hear bass behind him, that usually means Scott has slid over into the bass (especially live). Scott can sing bass, but is usually the baritone. He has an amazing range (as well as tone), but I think you will find that true of all the members (including beat boxer Kevin.

    Hello MissMeganFriday, so glad you made this reaction video. Pentatonix deserves to be introduced to everyone. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea but their talent is undeniable. I’m a Pentaholic mainly because of their brilliant arrangements, good taste in their choice of covers and timing, versatility again in music styles, video quality and individual personalities and talent. I also love their open mindedness in their respective side projects (where do they find the time?), big hearts and silliness. Worth more than one listening. Thank you and enjoy the ride! 🤗

    If you keep reacting to Pentatonix you'll get heaps of subscribers! They have so many great songs, some done simply that highlight their voices but are also fun, e.g. 'Gold' and 'No'. They have more complex but amazing songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, and more recently 'When the party's over' and 'Amazing Grace'. Try 'Run to You' for an original song.

    FYI, if you have seen the movie "Pitch Perfect 2", then you have seen them already. They were the Canadian group at the world finale in the movie. But anyway, welcome to this wonderful time in your life as you discover Pentatonix (PTX) and slowly become a Pentoholic. They started as a competitor in season 3 (2011) of The Sing-off, which they went on to win the season. They were dropped from the record label (from winning The Sing-off) almost immediately as the company didn't know how to market them. They started doing covers on TH-cam and grew in popularity until singing with a new label. They have won 3 Grammy awards, sold out world tours multiple times, sold millions of records, etc. I welcome you to this journey, and will leave off here for others to fill in more info about them.

    Hi Megan...so glad you came out from under that rock of 9 years...Pentatonix revolutionized the Acapella genre and now they have their own TH-cam channel with well over 18 MILLION (!) subscribers and closing in on 7.5 BILLION (!) views of their 400+ videos. They've earned 3 Grammys; have multiple Platinum albums; performed many concerts, and 4 world tours that are always sold out. After reacting to one or two more songs (and you learn their names), you will join the many millions of Pentaholics !! I would recommend "Hallelujah" next since that video has almost 600 million (!) views....followed by "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Daft Punk" (their 1st Grammy)...after that, just throw a dart against their catalog of songs !! There are now a number of terrific Acapella groups, but these guys are the world's best !! I'm sure that others will fill in many blanks, but sit back and enjoy the journey !!

    Your next song should be the Hallelujah official video -- please learn what Mitch's voice can do! -- then Daft Punk,, and early sing for which they earned a Grammy, and then Bohemian Rhapsody because it's brilliant.
    After that there are many directions to go. I love their collab with Todrick Hall, The Wizard of Aahs (medley of pop songs that creates a mini Wizard of Oz movie,); Can't Hold Us; Problem; Come Along; Say Something; Imagine; and the fan video of Aha! at the Star Vista in Singapore.
    If you're up for it, their Sing Off performances are really worth watching, all the way through.

    Loved your reaction. Welcome to Pentatonix. Don’t worry about pausing, you really need to or they will block it for copyright reasons.
    The 3 in the middle are Scott, Mitch & Kirsten. They have been friends since middle school. Then they added Kevin (beat boxer, singer and cellist) and another member Avi as the base, and signed up to perform on the Sing-off. (Which they won)
    The guy in the white jacket is Matt. He replaced Avi who had to leave for personal reasons a few years ago. Scott ( the blonde will fill in for the base if Matt or Avi is singing the lead). Mitch is a counter tenor. He and Kirsten are the chameleons of the group and will look totally different in every video. They do Christmas music, lots of covers and medley (or evolutions of...Rihanna, Michael Jackson) and some of their own.
    My favorites are Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Daft Punk Medley (which won them a Grammy) Mary Did You Know, Mad World, Say Something and Radioactive (which they perform with Lindsey Stirling) and just released a version of Amazing Grace a week or two ago.
    So glad you discovered them. It is always so great to see someone listen to them for the first time. They sound exactly the same live. (They have an original video and a live version of Hallelujah you could do and compare)

  • @wbrock8090
    @wbrock8090 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great reaction, always fun to see new folks discover Pentatonix (PTX for short).
    You are going to be flooded by avid PTX fans (who call themselves Pentaholics) who love watching reactions. You will get many suggestions from their extensive catalog, both covers and originals. Frankly, pick ANYTHING they do and you won’t be disappointed.
    A little background on PTX, of the five of them, three of them, the tall blonde guy, Scott Hoying (baritone, but he covers the bass when the bass singer has a solo), the young lady, Kirstin (or Kirstie) Maldonado (mezzo-soprano), and the guy with the dark hair and high voice, Mitch Grassi (counter-tenor), are originally from Arlington Texas and have known each other since childhood and sang together in high school.
    There is a sixth member, Ben Bram, he helps in the arrangements, but they all work on the arrangements as a group.
    In 2011, NBC had a singing competition called “The Sing Off” where a-cappella groups competed against each other and one was eliminated each week. Scott wanted to compete, but they needed 5 people, so they met a fourth member, Avi Kaplan, a classically trained bass singer, through a friend and he joined (he is in many videos and has a beard, but personal reasons caused him to amicably leave the group in 2017). Before Avi left, he helped find his replacement, an equally talented base singer, Matt Sallee, who is in the current group in this video. That has been the only change in the lineup. If you begin to watch their earlier videos, you will barely recognize Mitch, he lost a lot of weight, and changes his look often, as does Kirstie.
    Scott discovered their fifth member, beatboxer/cellist/vocalist (tenor) Kevin Olusola, on TH-cam where he was “celloboxing” or beat boxing while playing the cello. Because of schedules, they didn’t meet until just a few days before the competition began, yet they went on to win the show.
    They won a recording contract as part of the show prize, but 2 weeks into it, the label dropped them feeling like an a-cappella group was not marketable. Refusing to be discouraged, PTX began a TH-cam channel and from that channel garnered millions of world-wide fans, went on to world tours, put out multiple albums, including wildly successful Christmas albums, hit the #1 spot on the Billboard chart, almost always in the top ten, and have to date won 3 Grammy Awards.
    They do all their own beats. No instruments are used with the exception of several videos where Kevin plays the cello and some collaborations with violinist Lindsey Sterling. They do not use multi-tracking, auto-tune or any studio tricks. Everything they have on video, they perform exactly the same live.
    All their Sing Off performances are on TH-cam, watching them will give you their story, and show you how they have evolved into, IMO, the best a-cappella group in the world right now. Welcome to the PTX experience.

    I just found you this morning. Shocked you hadn't heard of PTX before, but your reaction was perfect. They have won three Grammys and have so many fabulous songs. Their newest release, Amazing Grace, is probably their best ever performance. Mitch (the counter-tenor), Scott (the baritone), Kirstie ( the soprano), and Kevin (the beatboxer) have all been with the group since its inception and all but Kevin (of those four) actually went to the same high school! Matt, the bass (and sometimes beatboxer) is new to the group, having replaced Avi, who will be in many of their performances. Their can't miss repertoire is extensive, but after Amazing Grace, I'd recommend you do a few of their classics: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine (which will make you cry), Hallelujah (both the video and the live performance), Mary Did You Know, Silent Night, The Wizard of Ahhhhs, Daftpunk (for which they got their first Grammy), Aha from Singapore, and then just keep on going!

    I was watching your reaction to this and it reminded me so much of my first reactions and the questions I had. Apparently, most acapella groups have a bass and a baritone and if/when the bass sings something else (like, crazily enough, tenor; Home Free, Voice Play, Pentatonix) the baritone takes over the bass (though not quite at the bottom end of the bass range). That's why you'll notice Home Free having Tim and Chance both singing low (and high), and Pentatonix with Scott and Matt both singing low (and high). lol. Truly mind-blowing and amazing!

    Mitch (counter tenor), Kirsten and Scott (tall blond baritone) grew up together. Won a singing contest after adding a bass (Avi) and Kevin (beat boxer). Matt (bass) joined after Avi left to pursue solo career. Scott does most of the arranging. They have some original songs like Run to Me and My Eyes. EVERYTHING by them is amazing.

    About the members: Matt (on the left ) is the only one that joined the group later, after the previous bass (Avi Kaplan) left to do a solo carrear. He has amazing songs as well, it's better for you to start making a list ahah

    As others have indicated, Scott, the blond in the middle who began, is actually the baritone of the group. He, like all the others, has developed his voice in a way that is versatile as well as beautiful. He has an unusually wide singing range -- he can wail into tenor register (or use falsetto up there on occasion), and can carry a bass line when their designated bass is given the tune.
    That bass is Matt, the guy on the left. (He represents the one change in personnel over the years; before 2018, PTX had a different bass whom you'll see in some other videos.) Matt, the bass, actually sang the tune an octave higher than Scott the baritone. Which is amazing. Which is what the group consistently is.

    So PTX's version of Hallelujah has 570 million views. Try that one next. Blonde guy (Scott) is not the base it is the guy in white jacket (Matt). Mitch is small guy in black and has voice of an angel; he was singing very low here. Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola and he is probably the most broadly talented. Woman is Kirsten and she has power and tone for days. Please note, a lot of nutty ass Pentaholics will yell at you to wear headphones when listening to acapella music.

  • @tamarasmith9060
    @tamarasmith9060 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The blonde guy, Scott, is actually listed as a baritone, but he goes all the way from midway into bass up to high tenor, can falsetto very high. (Usually when you hear bell tones it will be the Trio, which is him, Kirstie & Mitch, who are usually the "leads", although their songs can have anywhere from 1 to all 5 singing as lead.) He covers for the actual bass, in this song it's the very talented Matt in the white jacket, when bass sings lead.
    The beatboxer, Kevin, is a tenor when he sings, can falsetto up to very high also. People joke that he swallowed a drum kit & that he has multiple brains because he can multitask like crazy & plays the most number of instruments of those in the group. He beatboxes & even plays cello while doing it, so he is credited with creating the term "celloboxing". A video of him doing that is what got him interviewed when Scott was looking to get a beatboxer & bass to expand the Trio into a group of 5. Since Kevin is mostly keeping the beat, he doesn't sing often, so at their concerts they always have some songs where he sings & also give him solo time on stage to cellobox. 95% of their songs are fully a capella, but on some they feature him on cello. 2 of those also have Lindsey Stirling as guest violin: their cover of Radioactive (by Imagine Dragons) & cover of Papaoutai (by Stromae).
    The guy with longer hair is Mitch, & he's a counter tenor who can go to the absolute highest whistle notes with ease, matching Kirstie's soprano. He regularly blows people away with his skills. Sometimes he will sing in the lower tenor range like in this song, but he's famous for hitting the high notes & the group does use it well, sometimes having him & Kirstie play back & forth with which is forefront & which is backup on the high parts. (They have even switched mid-sentence.)
    If you watch videos up to early 2017 you will see the original bass Avi. He is considered one of the top bass singers in the world currently, & often wowed the PTX fans by going so low he blew out the speakers. He left the group for a slower life & to have more family time, as so much touring was stressing him out too much, but continues with his solo music.
    They all do solo music & collabs with others. Scott & Mitch also have a duo group called Superfruit, with a whole album of original songs (not a capella) & their own youtube channel where they shared their "weekly obsessions", did fun stuff with friends, did covers of broadway, hip hop & more. They were recently helping to establish an all female a capella group & PTX has also been so busy the last year & half that Scott & Mitch haven't put out any new Superfruit music during that time, but we know it will be good when we get more.

    Excellent reaction! "Daft Punk Medley" is a good video for yout next outing.. Won them a Grammy, I believe. Story is, they did it for $400 in a closet. Also, almost unbelievable is their take on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". "Hallelujah" is a favorite; one of their originals is "Love Again", done in Cybergoth costume. There's a version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" that starts out in traditional form, then gets the Pentatonix twist that's pure fun. Their catalog is actually rather large, including songs in Japanese, French, & Chinese that are NOT dubbed - they learned not only the words but the proper pronunciation. Welcome to the world of Pentatonix, or PTX for short. Get ready for a quick boost to your channel from their rabid fans who call ourselves “Pentaholics”. Here is a quick intro to the group.
    PTX is a five member “a Capella” (without instruments) vocal band formed in 2011 for the NBC television reality competition show “The Sing Off”. The original members are “the trio”, who went to high school together in Arlington, Texas made up of:
    SCOTT HOYING, (male, 6’3”, usually blond) who sings baritone, but has a wide vocal range and covers the bass line of songs when the normal bass is singing a lead.
    MITCH GRASSI, (male, 5’10”, normally black hair but has changed body mass, wardrobe and hair style so much in videos he’s often mistaken for different people) who has an amazingly high range (contra tenor) that some mistake for a second female voice.
    KIRSTIN MALDONADO, (female, 5’4”, natural hair color is black but changed it often in videos) who sings mezzo soprano and, for a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”.
    Added to “the trio” for the show were:
    AVI KAPLAN, (Male, 5’11”, long dark hair, beard, usually wears a knit hat of some kind) is a classically trained “basso profundo” who often uses his upper registry to sing vocal leads in a number of arrangements but most commonly provides the vocal bass line as well as added vocal percussion. Avi is the ONLY member of the band that has change. He left on good terms in 2017 for reasons related to conflicting demands of the band’s touring schedule and his personal/family commitments. He assisted the group in finding his replacement Matt Sallee.
    KEVIN OLUSOLA (male, 6’1”, black, changing hair style) known as “KO” was asked to join PTX to provide vocal percussion after Scott watched a TH-cam video of him “cello boxing” (beatboxing while playing his cello). KO is the classic over achiever of the group. He plays Cello, Piano, and Saxophone all at concert levels. He graduated pre-med from Yale, speaks Spanish and spent over a year in China where he became fluent in Chinese. He sings Tenor but vocals were not his strong suite when he started so he worked with other band members and a vocal coach until while on tour he would perform the featured vocals in "if I ever fall in love", (originally performed by guest artist Jason Derulo for the album and video). He also writes and produces music both individually and for the group. So, KO is more than “just the beatboxer”.
    The most recent member and the only change in the group’s membership is:
    MATT SALLEE, (male, 5’9” black with usually close-cut black hair) who replaced Avi Kaplan in 2017 to provide vocals, vocal bass and percussion. Matt can be heard using his exceptional upper vocal range to provide a rich tenor/baritone lead often ending with a slide down to a deep bass punch.
    Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches!
    1- There is NO Auto-Tune or layering; what they sing is what you hear. They really are that good.
    2- What you see in the video produces everything that you hear. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen.
    3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
    Enjoy the ride.

    If you are amazed by this version which in my opinion has no feeling at all.. they are great at what they do but disturbeds version is unbelievably epic. Seriously, check it out. I didn't feel sad or really any emotion during that song. I can't make it through disturbed version without tearing up and I've seen it a hundred times or more.

    It is a powerful group and all are amazingly talented. Kevin, the beatboxer, also sings and is a world-class cellist(?). And three Grammys. And the group formed to compete on The Sing Off. Their first performance all together was the first performance on the show. Destiny.

    Everything these guys do is golden. They're amazing. Any choice of their other songs is going to be a winner. IMHO their best piece to date is still "Hallelujah". Second is "Mary Did You Know".

    Hey, Megan! Back in the day, they did a cover of "Somebody I Used to Know" and at that time, they had a different bass guy named Avi Kaplan. Pentatonix has been great from the jump. I think that was from 2012, but it will give you an idea of how good they were and how far they've come. Looking forward to seeing more from you. :)

    What I love is watching people 'find' PTX for the first time...and then watch the subsequent videos where you can tell they've spent the last month of their life watching every PTX video available on youtube.

    If you like this one, you have to see Hallelujah and Mad World and the Daft Punk medley. They will literally blow you mind.
