The Great "*HERMAN MUNSTER* " Loved The Munster's. watched them faithfully every week on CBS! Although in B&W I loved it! Fred Gwynne played the part to a Tee!
Yes, I do remember Fred Gwynne. He was good in films as well as sitcoms. Favorites were "Car 54 Where Are You" as well as "My Cousin Vinny." Good to see you again, Steve.
I lived local to Mr. Gwynne. Now follow me here. My uncles x wife’s sister was married to Mr. Gwynne. Everything I ever heard about him was great. Apparently he was a super nice man.
Wow! I hear that he died on July 2nd, 1993. That is my Birthday! When I read that, I remembered exactly what I was doing that day! It was my 30th Birthday, and I was a flight attendant for American Airlines, and came home for my b-day, and I had to fly back to San Francisco, because I lived their at the time (I was based there.) Anyway, I will be 61 on July 2nd. So hard to believe that he died 31 years ago.😢 I LOVED watching the Munsters! It was my favorite show to watch when I got a little older. (The show ran for 3 years ('64-'66,) so of course, I had to watch re-runs.) R.I.P. Mr. Gwynne.😢💔
How I had heard the story for Punky Brewster was that Soleil Moon Frye seeing Fred for the first time, looked up at him and asked aren't you Herman Munster? Which prompted him to leave. He secretly did like the character but publicly would never speak about it. He would draw a caricature of Herman for fans of the show who wrote him letters and would sign it as Herman. That alone should say how kind of a person he truly was and what his fans meant to him.
I had not seen him since the Munsters, until he appeared at the end of the Michael J Fox movie, The Secret of My Success. Wow, it's Herman Munster! Then he was in several movies, until I heard he died. I was sorry to hear about it, but glad he had a comeback.
I will never forget him. I loved every Munster show and movie and also his earlier shows as a policeman. he was wonderful actor. I wonder why he decided to be buried in an unmarked grave. If anyone know the answer, I wish you would tell it.
I fondly remember the Munsters. My favourite episode was when Herman and Grandpa mistakenly think that Lily is pregnant. That was good, innocent humour. Btw I love your voice, it is so calming and reminds me of yesteryear America! Thank you for your lovely and reflective videos. Best wishes rom the UK
Wow something I didn't know about the southern start.!😮 I thought he was doing an affection in My Cousin Vinny and Pet Semetary. -Just Another..."one of my favorite Munster episodes and Fred's too. I used to call it "Good Lookin' Herm" before I knew the title 🤓😎✌🏼
He couldn't get any major work from 64 till 1980 the Cotton Club. Then his career finally took off again. We all lost 16 yrs of a great talent because of typecasting! What a loss for him and us.
I have a lot of great Memories of Mr . Gwynne on The Munsters and My Cousin Vinny . That's one of my all time favorite Movies . Thanks for putting this together . Love your Channel . Hope you're doing well . 🎸
When he was interviewed, people would mention Herman Munster, he would politely say that he'd rather not talk about that gentleman. But if you asked him about his art , children's books , he would brighten up. He also designed the logo for Al Lewis's Restaurant "Grandpa's " (a caricature of Al)
I liked the one where he played baseball (dodgers?)and either tore the cover off the ball or set it on fire when he hit it.too funny. Mr. Ed did one also, I remember a lot of the la dodgers at the at time were in that one.
Enjoyed your video. I watched him from time to time. There was a time I did not watch much unless it was Gunsmoke, Have Gun will Travel, sometimes Sea Hunt, and a list of cartoon shows. Again, I really enjoyed your video.
I believe Dom Deluise plays a doctor in that Episode! My favorite Ep. is the one where he is mistaken for a bank robber... & has to figure out how to return the loot the teller gives him! & I LOVED him in 'The Cotton Club'! He played a surprisingly intimidating gangster!
66, my age. Huh, I thought he was a lot older. Maybe it was wishful thinking. I grew up on the Munsters and can fully understand his being type cast, the same way Nimoy was.
Interesting. Fred Gwynne was typecast. I watched The Munsters. Wonderful Cast. Fred was great in one of his notable Film Roles in My Cousin Vinny. If only his Agent;fellow Thespians;and the Powers to be in Hollywood Tooked a More interest?
He went to Harvard? Thanks for this story. As far as too where his grave is as long as toy know the cemetary just say a prayer to him and he can hear it. I loved Pet Semetary but not my Cousin Vinney.
Currently I listen to old time radio shows - many include Fred Gwynne. Lovely to hear his voice.
RIP. He made a generation laugh and was great at his craft. A good life and will always be remembered.
My Cousin Vinny as the judge is a classic. A talented actor.

A fine actor -both comedy and dramatic and an excellent artist
I did not know he was only 66 when he passed, Car 54 and the Munsters were staples of my youth. His kindness could be felt in all his roles, RIP Fred
What a likable person he was. He seemed to be a genuinely nice and humble man. I was to have seen him on the silver screen and television.

I still watch The Munsters on Peacock sometimes. I especially loved him in Pet Cemetery. Didn't know about him being a children's book author.

Disorganized Crime was his best film role.
Very well done lots of good information.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My favorite episode was Thanksgiving, great show with a lot of laughs.
My favorite Munsters episode is, "When a Martian calls, hang up." I like the episode because I am a ham radio operator.
Patrick O'Neal was in one of the Columbo movies, and I always thought it was Fred Gwynne (they seem similar to me).
Thanks Steve.
One of Rob Zombie (the artists) favorite actors. I heard he was a genuine person, I would have loved to met him
Steve, you’re a silly man sometimes.
Glad you’re back making videos!

I don't feel bad for Fred Gwynne. He wasn't megastar famous, but he will always be remembered.
Fred Gwynne will always be the BEST Herman Munster in Hollywood History!!
He was the greatest Frankenstein- him and Boris Karloff.
“Youts?”
I wonder why he has an unmarked grave.
👍👍
Disorderly Crime.
It was Disorganized Crime. Very happy you knew that.
