This week I'm back in Scotland taking photos. 10 photos in fact, or that's certainly the aim. This beach is called Camusdarach and it's one of the prettiest beaches I've ever visited. A perfect place to stop for landscape photography and seascape photography if you're on the west coast of Scotland any time of year I think :)

Congratulations! As a grandfather I can say with experience that your life will never be the same again. Thanks for introducing this wonderful beach to those of us in other parts of the world. We are planning to visit Scotland from Canada next year and I have just added this beach to our itinerary. You are right, it is a gold mine of beautiful scenery!

Hi James, just a quick suggestion for now the little one has arrived ! I used a one second a day app for the first year - because as much as it is great having high quality video, it was always my phone that was on hand for when the little moments happened and it helped organise the inevitable days worth of footage and photos that accumulated very very quickly ! As someone has already mentioned this is one of the two beaches where the movie Local Hero was filmed. Burt Lancaster walked on that beach in 1982. Next time you go watch out for a Selkie :) Beautiful movie and gorgeous soundtrack. Congrats on the baby and the lovely photos.

That's a lovely beach ... if you get a bit farther north Clachtoll Beach up in Assynt is astounding. I say a bit farther north but I just Google mapped it and you are talking 160-ish miles or 4 1/2 hours drive north of where you were. There is much to see up there though Clashnessi Falls and the Stoer Lighthouse as well, not to mention the mountains!

Have you seen the film 'Local Hero'? The beach looked pretty familiar and after doing a quick Google it looks like it's the one used in the movie.

You just discovered my favourite beach ( it was the one from the film Local Hero ) we have been visiting this beach every year since 1995 it looks great in all seasons. I always say I won't take any images this time but so far I have never managed not to. The beach looks different each time . Next time make sure you have more sensible footwear for the rocks then you can scrambe over them if the tide turns on you ; ) The boat Davy Diver has been at Morrar beach for all the years we have visited that area , it appears in many a photo by ourselves and others . After you said "here is the magic" how did you get the ethereal quality to the light .. a little overexposure? (Min 6.30-7.00). Great pics.
James, I'm curious, why aren't you (or other landscape photographers) using eshutter for your shots? I mean generally to prevent the mechanical shutter's wear with no disadvantage that I know of.
Also isn't that ZV10 weirdly blurry on the right edge?
