It just stood quietly sentinel in its charging dock on the wall in the tool closet day in and out. I remember trying to use it on some lawnmower repair project once and it made it like half a turn and died, probably because the batteries were cooked from perpetually sitting on the charger for years. Cool idea, and probably was expensive in the store, but there's no getting around the RadioShack technology that was common in most battery powered stuff back then. These modern day cordless tools would have been Godlike back then.
Excuse me but it’s no laughing matter. Back in 1825, Englishman Lucas Chloride returned from war in Japan and set up the first of what would grow to be a whole region full of battery factories. It was only when in nearby Scotland, the precocious Jonathan Ingersoll partnered with Graham Rand to form the Jonathan-Graham Pneumatronic company that the end of Chloride’s portable-power monopoly began. The J-G compressors were expensive and unreliable and the company failed. The fate of the two inventors is lost to history but local historians believe they established another enterprise - the name of which is unknown

If I had to guess, his new camera has stabilization built in. It probably isn't set up to handle stabilizing while looking straight down. Probably freaking out a little bit. I thought the quality of the old camera was better
Back when I did musical instrument repair I got really good at tracking fallen parts especially the tiny screws for woodwind. Apparently like riding a bike it's a skill that doesn't go away. Now if I can learn to find the tools I randomly set down I'll be set.
Did AVE just use a box cutter to open a box? Is he okay?
La Puerta Negra by Los Tigres del Norte, great song

Summer caught us by surprise last year, came on a Tuesday. Totally randomly hilarious
Wait, THAT'S the camera everything was filmed on this whole time???
I kinda thought it would have the brand name YuFFuck molded into the side of it, with a really small microphone..
...having a little 'sixth sense' moment there? :)
@@9rune5 Sort of, There's this deep voice I keep hearing that says "FOCUS YuFFuck!" So...
“Healing bench where things come to die apparently” 🤣🤣👌🏻. Speaking for the maintenance engineer masses right there. I have a special little bench also for such things.
I've had a saying for way too many years...someone put it together, I can take it apart, but I never said anything about putting it back together again afterwards.
Glad to see that japanese made Makita has been put to great use
The only love from AvE is for a six day old post...
Yeah-nah, we’ll just continue to enjoy the freeviews on TH-cam, eh boys?
LOVE IT!!!!! THE HEALING BENCH@!!
why do I feel like after watching your videos for so long that I always wonder if your voice and appearance actually match up in my brain.
I think he has a moustache
I envision Tim Taylor with frostbite.
@@markfergerson2145 Joe Walsh with a wrench.
@@mrbones167 I think I'd be disappointed without it.
I had that exact same ratchet years ago under the Skil label. Loved the thing. Worked great for years until it finally crapped out. I was actually sad about it. Best thing was that it was metal. Super durable, not like the plastic/metal crap that we are stuck with today!
Ave, where can we find the professional Mexican welder??? 🤔
Any homedepot has em

I dream of the days when my tools and truck were this simple.
Can you remember when Craftsman had a lifetime warranty??
John
Life of the tool, the user or the corporate structure?
My grandpa was a diesel mechanic for decades. He swore by craftsman tools. Couldn't afford fap off. He took in a 1/2" drive ratchet for replacement, and the counter guy said "this looks like its had a cheater on it". My grandpa without missing a beat said "what aisle are the cheaters in? I want one of those!"
I have a Skill version of that tool, same construction just with Skil label. I purchased this in the mid to late 80's. NiCad batteries which died a long time ago. I may have to take mine apart just for grins.
Dave.
That fella was layin dimes with his eyes closed. Or was he?
It's not for us to know...but he will tomorrow, if he wakes up to find his eyes packed with sand and glued shut🥺
@@adampindell ever smell weld sunburn on skin? Very unique pungent aroma
@@biguprochester yes, and on my very own skin, no less😬
But I imagine the extra putrid smell had a lot to do with the welding fumes that had clung to my skin plus the sweat and all the grinding dust; all nicely baked in 😅
@@adampindell interesting dissection. Either way it’s not pleasant for many days.
@@biguprochester that's for damn sure; nothing quite like burning your armpit and underside of your bicep...
... That's one you get to enjoy for a couple extra days😬
Gadzooks! I had one of these, albeit another label - Skil. AKA The Skilwrench. I bought it new around 1987-88, still have the charger nailed to the wall believe it or not. Wrench long gone. Pot metal POS. I upgraded to a Dayton air ratchet which was only moderately better, until a crackhead relieved me of it and all my other 80's era toolage.
I can’t believe it only took 10 seconds to find that bearing..my shop 3 weeks later found that sumbitch.😂
Tell you man, I dropped 2 balls from my impact. Ended up ordering new ones, but since it takes centuries for stuff to arrive these days, only a couple of months later I found my balls, gun reassembled, ready for action. And I got 2 extra just in case.

6 years later, I'm still looking for that Jesus clip... or that Bolt. . . I gave up on that 10 mil already...
@@hdezn26 In the Impulse Buy racks at the checkout at every hardware store I've ever been in, there's a set of bins full of Philips and flat tips.
Why isn't there a bin of 10 mils?
@@markfergerson2145 Them 10 mils and 8 mils? Likely because they already know that they all wander off!
I'll add to the "My dad had one of those..." club...
My dad had one of those way back when...I never actually saw him ever use it.
I'm gonna miss the "Focus, you fuck!" 😁
I've enjoy your videos for 5 years or so.keep them coming. lol
Holy crap I’m still laughing about the famed battery mills of the midlands
@@frankblack1481 Genius....what the hell are you doing here?ha ha
@@frankblack1481 nice history lesson thanks, very interesting.
I got those units for $19 new. did a great job and cut snowmobile rebuilds from 8 hrs to 4 hrs. Used them until I could afford air ratchets. and I still have them, though sitting in 'need batteries box'.
Glad to see my $5 put to good use. No but seriously, keep making videos and I'll keep throwing my five in the pot
My dad had one, he used it a couple times and one of those delrin gears stripped a few teeth. I think I got three new ones from the black and decker repair place (now long since gone).
It is still on the shelf in his shop where I put it after fixing it for him. Thats been 30 years ago? Thanks for the time you spend making these videos.
