In this video I do a review on my Rec Tec pellet grill after four years of constant use as well as a quick tutorial on how it works. I hope you will find this content useful.
I have the same model and I also upgraded the controller. I love this thing. I got it in 2017 and no problems. Still like new. Smoked a brisket last week. Came out great. Put it in at 9pm at 200 degrees. Didn’t touch it till 8am. Wrapped it, put it back in at 250 degrees till 1pm. Covered it with a moving blanket till 5pm. When I cut into it. The juice coming out was unbelievable. Everyone loved it. I reverse seared some steaks today. Came out great. I just checked the pellets. Still the hopper is half full. Highly recommend.
That’s awesome! I’ve been doing my brisket and pork butts overnight like that lately and love it. Nice to get some sleep and still turn out a good product! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
I bought my 680 four years ago, too. You obviously clean yours more often then I do - yours is just beautiful; mine is faded and the black paint on the front is peeling. However, I just love it and use it at least weekly. I get the same results as yours. I learned a lot from your video about how it works. I even have the same accessory as you. What a beauty!
Hey thanks Jim. Yea mine is peeling in the front too. No big deal. I have a covered porch and also keep a cover on it so it stays nice. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Awesome 4 year review - that 680 looks brand new - love the red enamel lid. You really covered how a pellet grill works - highly recommend anyone who is looking for a pellet grill to watch this video.
I’m at 3 years on my 680. Never had a grill I liked more and my 680 is used on average 4 cooks a week and multiple slow 20+ hour cooks each year. It’s temp control is great (I’ve made cheese cake several times). Easy to clean. It makes cooking fun. Just plain great. Honest company.
Yea Gary I couldn’t be more impressed! Every time I use it I brag to my wife about what a great cooker it is and what a great investment lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Have a great weekend!
I have one and I still love watching these videos, everything you say is true. My first smoke was Christmas eve and it was 20 degrees outside, the temperature held true and I couldn't believe there was no variance.
We are kind of on the same wave length. I own a RT-590 for my patio and an RT-340 for our fifth wheel. I also have a Blackstone 22” adventure ready griddle that we use while camping. Really happy with the RECTEC and Blackstone producers.
GT’s Barbeque and Cuisine I also carry Chargriller Akorn Jr. kamado for charcoal grilling and searing. I don’t do any cooking on my RECTEC above about 275.
Just bought a 590. Heard great things about RecTeq. Completely new to smoking. Seems like the phone app and stuff makes this as foolproof as possible. Appreciate the review!
Waiting for delivery of my RT-590 now. Nice review, thanks for explaining why not to run the foil over the side of the drip pan/diffuser. Makes sense. 👍
Thank you! Great video. This kind of sealed my choice. I’ve been mulling over a pellet grill and I’ve paid my dues of babysitting a smoker all night long. I’m too old for that now, haha. Thanks again!
Great review Gary! Awesome to see how this has worked for you over the past 4 years and is still working as well! Makes me feel good about my purchase! You are right about spot on temps, I have the 590 and it is amazing how even this runs! Cheers!
Great video! I've got a job interview with Recteq this week. I was looking at different videos to get an idea of the product. This was very informative. On a side note: 308 is the grade of stainless steel. It's food-grade as opposed to 316 stainless.
That’s awesome Dan best of luck. Based on the comments I’ve sold a lot of grills for em with this review lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch and hope you become part of our family!
I am about to bye the RT700. Really love your video and the information you supplied. Can you provide me with the info regarding the shelf for diy upgrade. Thanks
You will love it Delores. I believe this is the correct one for the 700. Thanks for taking the time to watch! www.recteq.com/products/large-interior-shelf
I've had my traeger for like 15 years I think. My dad bought it for my birthday. I still use it about 4 times a week. I have replaced the electronics & equipment once. Rarely gets over 400° ..I've looked at alot and like you said the ones I want are up to $3500 so I think the reqtec is what I'm getting next it's about 1200 and it's really nice
Great review! I had almost decided not to make the jump to a pellet grill until I watched your review. Thanks for you honest opinion and good presentation. Like that custom side table too!
Lol thanks Ken. Yea that table looks funny but has served me well over the years. You will get a ton of great memories out of any pellet grill. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Mine over 6 years old and still going strong used 3 times a week all year! Great value and awesome customer service from the company.. Just amazing IMO and use it for everything including steaks and burgers. Got rid of my gas grill years ago and only use this. Upgraded the computer but otherwise stock and mines older than yours and shows it!
That’s awesome Brian. I use mine all the time too! I have eight different cookers and this is by far the one I use most! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Great video. I’m about to upgrade from the RecTec Bullseye and this video did it for me. Going with the RT-700. Wish it was a little cheaper but like you said you get what you pay for.
That’s awesome Bobby! You will love it. Really the difference isn’t that much more over the years of use you’ll get. Welcome to the Rec Tec mafia lol. Enjoy!
Great review! I just ordered my first Recteq. Been wanting to make the switch from Traeger. It was fine, but really wanted something that was stainless steel and more consistent temps. BTW, I noticed a bunch of ash when you pulled the deflector plate and saw some floating up with the smoke. Any reason why you dont clean that?
Good question. I clean it about every 4th cook or so. They recommend leaving it for seasoning but I still do. Once it is cooking you never see it or have it settle on food.
Hey, I enjoyed learning something new today.... My grill is very basic but it does the job ok.... I am learning how much more there is to this area of cooking.... Thanks for the upload.... Catchya again soon....👍
Thanks Margaret. I get a ton of questions about how a pellet grill works and why I bought the one I did so thought I’d share. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
good video, I plan on pulling the trigger this spring on my first pellet grill. Rectec has been on my radar for over a year, I am slow. Only suggestion would have been maybe explaining the wifi app a little.
Good point Aaron. That feature is really handy and I use the app every time! Wish I had thought about it. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and for the feedback! You will love using a pellet grill! Happy Holidays!
I have one exactly like yours. I love it. Set it at 225, go to sleep, it will be 225 in the morning. I had a Traeger before that. It had horrible temp swings which would lead to a flameout. I had an igniter rod go bad and they sent me a free replacement that shipped the same day that I called
I hear you James. I’m not putting anything down but my Rec Tec just works right out of the box. It’s an engineering marvel in my day to day experience of using other products. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Have a great week!
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 Just to clarify, it was the igniter rod on the Rec Tec that went bad after a couple of years...but they shipped a free replacement the same day I called. They also give you the personal cell phone number of the owners in case you ever need customer support at night or during a weekend...pretty great!
Terrific review! I’m in need of a new grill and I’m researching the different grills and brands. I enjoyed your review and opinion of this Rec Tec and I’ll be looking into the 700 because of your review. Well done and thanks again.
Hey Alan I really appreciate that. I too did a lot of research and this type of information was hard to find. You won’t be sorry if you join the Rec Tec family! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Great review Gary! Looking into upgrading the pellet part of my game, looking at the rec tec and the grilla grills Silverback A/T...has the big wheels, I have to roll it on stone like whats behind you...it's a toss up..still debating, thanks for your review, have a great one brother, you all stay safe!👍🍻👊
Thanks Craig! I’ve seen a lot of people mod their wheels with bigger ones for just that reason and they also have a comp cart option which will roll on anything.
Thank you sir for this review. I am a researcher. I like to see products that Consumer Reports have reviewed. They've not the Recteq, but I have sure found very few, having spent several hours looking at review and articles, having also communicated directly with the manufacturer, and I think I would really feel good about the money spent for what I'd get.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Gregory. Yea I think my six year warranty is about up and I still have found this to be a great product. IMHO there is no better value.
Cool review and overview Gary! Definitely some outstanding features on that the PID being one and the hopper auger assembly along with those dual chambers. It looks like a good one and from what I’ve heard they’re quite well built. Excellent job brother!
My Rec Teq has hundreds of hours of cooking time logged. I have NEVER, I repeat NEVER had any performance issues with the grill in the six years I have owned the grill. I would highly recommend this grill to anyone looking for the best pellet grill on the planet.
I enjoyed the review of the Rec-Tec. I sure like the looks of the Rec-Tec and how heavy-duty built they are. I have the Pit Boss Pro series 4 vertical pellet smoker and it also does an amazing job and holds a steady temp with little to no variation up or down. I would have probably gone with the pellet grill but I had just purchased a Char-Broil gas grill a few months before the smoker (had a hard enough time explaining to the wife why I needed a smoker after just buying the gas grill). If I had it to do all over again I would have probably tried my best to get the Rec-Tec because of how well they're built and the great reviews. Your Rec Tech still looks brand new after four years. Thank you for sharing! I just subbed your channel.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I have a friend who has that vertical Pit Boss and he loves it. He had a couple of issues with the controller but it seems fine now. Really looks like a great way to do a lot of food with a small footprint. Btw great tip on using soap and water to clean the door.
While it is true Rec Tec (now Rec Teq) is based in GA the manufacturing is performed via third-party Chinese manufacturers (albeit assembled in GA). You ain’t getting a USA made grill for anywhere around $1 ,0000.
Yea this thing is bulletproof! It’s been a couple years since I posted this and it still runs perfectly! Thanks for taking the time to watch and have a great weekend!
Have you had any issues with grease leaking out the bottom of the barrel where the auger housing enters the cooking chamber? My BRAND NEW 1250 is having this issue on the it's first cook! Calling RT support tomorrow.
Really nice information. I may have missed it, but what is your cooking environment? Do you cook in a cold environment? I would think that cold weather, with a little wind, could cause some big temperature swings. Just trying to put it in perspective to my cooking area. Thanks.
Great question Pug. I cook year round in all temps which is why a good PID computer is essential. Winter or summer that thing stays within 5 degrees of set point. No matter what. It’s the most important feature of the grill in my opinion. No swing at all after five years. Thanks for taking the time to watch and have a great weekend!
Hey GT! Great video! I've had my 680 for about 6-7 years. It looks just like yours, except yours looks brand new on the outside! I keep a cover on mine, but it doesn't look anything like as new as yours. I bought a gasket to put around the lid of mine too. I haven't installed it yet. I was a little surprised to see so much smoke come from around the lid. But, even at that, it cooks really good. Like you, I have just received the new controller with the stainless steel side shelf. I'm going to install it today or tomorrow and give it a whirl this weekend. Again, great video!
Hey thanks Newton! Yea I love that thing and it has worked perfectly all these years. I cater from time to time and can easily get six recks of ribs or several pork butts on it which allows me to handle 25 people easily. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and have a great Christmas!
That’s awesome man. You know what matters is being in the back yard doing what you love. Brands are less important than than the food you cook. In my opinion this is the best bang for the buck but at the end of the day they all are similar. Keep on BBQ’ing brother.
Hey thanks Pete. I am lucky to have a covered back porch but still try to keep it clean. I think it’s almost six now and looks and runs like new. I’m very happy with it. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Awesome review! Those Rectecs are tanks. I keep saying it but I’ve constantly been debating pulling the trigger on a pellet grill. I don’t have a lot of room (small condo living) and looking at griddles too. Like the space this one has. Gonna take a look at them on their site.
Lol thanks Alan. I have a covered cooking area and just wipe it down when I use it. Pretty easy to keep clean. I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
GT, I've been cooking on a cookie sheet or something similar to keep from having to clean my grates and deal with the messy foil on the grease tray/heat deflector after cooking. Your grates looked very clean. Do you cook directly on the grates?
Yea I do but I always use crumpled up foil to get the worst off while it’s still warm then brush it clean when it cools down. Oh and I always spray it with Pam before each use and that really seems to help. The foil can be a pain but it’s not too bad.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. Yes I have several grills and smokers but this is by far the easiest to use and produces awesome results. Have a great weekend!
Another great quality video Gary, concise and pointed out the features. Like you, I was looking at a YODER (640 Comp), and like you the price. Sounds like you and others are enjoying the Rec Tec for value. Of course others here are getting me interested in the Masterbuilt Gravity Feed series of cookers. Decisions, decisions....
That’s a tough one Robert. I’m seeing a ton of videos on the Masterbuilt and it certainly looks like a good cooker. The joy is in the cooking and you will like exploring with whatever you get. For pellet grills specifically it’s hard to beat a Rec Tec for the money. Let me know what you go with and grill on!
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837, tell you what Gary, Mike Lovelace (co-brother at Joe's BBQ House) bought the 700 and loves it for convenience and flavor. For a guy that has a Shirley Fab reverse flow smoker, that says ALLOT about Rec Tec. Only thing I don't like is they are made in China, of course so is Masterbuilt, while YODER is pure bread USA!
Robert you are absolutely right. I keep it pretty clean but don’t vacuum it every time. I like these Lumberjack pellets but I notice they seem to have a bit more dust than some. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Yea these cookers are truly set it and forget it. I use this more than any cooker I have. Have a great week!
Thanks! It’s easy to wipe down and stays nice. It’s over five now and still rocks it. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch! Have a great weekend!
Nate it’s pretty easy. I just wipe it down each time and vacuum it after every few cooks. Cleans up no problem. Plus I have a covered porch and keep the cover on it. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Thanks Kevin. They all will do the job. The important thing is to enjoy yourself with whatever cooker you have and smile while you watch the smoke roll. Grill on!
After watching the video, could you please share it. Also, subscribe and hit that bell up there on the right side please so you will not miss any new content. Thank you for being a blessing. ~ Lynn
No not really. I had a bit of paint peel on the front which I think was from cooking too high with my winter cover on. This thing still cooks like the day I got it. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Have a great weekend Erick!
I live in Washington state and we have all four seasons. I keep it outside year round and cook on it year round. I do have a covered porch though and also bought a Rec Tec cover for it so it isn’t in direct weather. I have never heard of an issue like that and there are some good Tec Tec owners groups on Facebook you can check out and ask questions. Should be fine.
hole saw on a drill u can punch a hole down low in the hopper (when empty) vacuum any shavings out get a small of stainless and rivot it on inside, if u do it right with a handle that sticks up above most the pellets just rotate it with bucket underneath & your good to go, not perfect but better than scooping for 30 mins.
What's the firebox made out of?.. steel or stainless?... I live in northern climate, cold in winter..insulation ( wall thicknesses during winter cooks). U live in south?..
I thinks it’s made of the same steel as the rest bit not positive. All the specs are on their website. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it gets really cold here. I bbq year round and temp stays solid due to thick steel on walls and lid.
when you had your green mountain grill, how was the temperature variance compared to the rec tec? I was really wanting rec tec, but the green mountain pizza accessory has me swinging towards GMG.
Well I liked my GMG and also had the pizza accessory. I actually owned three before the Rec Tec and still have one at our cabin. I experienced pretty significant temp swings but at the end of the day if you keep an eye on your food which you should anyway it’s not the end of the world. I actually got the Rec Tec to move up in size. I will tell you the PID computer is dead on with it. If it swings two degrees it’s a fluke. At least back then the computer was way better. But you’re wise in thinking through how the cooker you get will be used. I rarely used the pizza oven and honestly you can make great pizza on any pellet grill just on the grates. If you make a lot of pizza there are some nice stand alone ovens that work great. It’s a bit of a pain to assemble the GMG for pizza then put it back together to cook on. Not to mention storage for the accessory. At least that was my experience.
No Joe they weren’t. I’m sure a lot has changed. They made a hell of a good grill though even back then. If I were buying a new grill today I’d definitely consider one.
This grill is far bigger than the yoder ys640s ,plus even though they say 2500$, that's just the starting price and unless you live close to go pick up, you're paying over 3gs for it and yes it's better built but I'm not sure we need something built better than a recteq
Great video, Iv had the pit boss 456d for almost a year so far it’s been a great little grill but need a little more space, Iv researched many grills have found no one ever say anything negative about Rec tec, my only concern is I do a lota small cooks like 1 or ribeyes but would like to be able yo do two turkeys so I called up Rec tec and asked if the 590 would do it, they said if money is not an option to go with the 700 because it burns the same exact amount as the 590 (1lb an hour at 350) Do you do small cooks on your?
Hi Rob thanks for taking the time to watch. Yes I do small cooks all the time but it’s really nice to have the extra space. I do big cooks as well and would definitely recommend the 700 for only a bit more. Let me know how it goes.
This is what I used. It has held up very well. Thanks for taking the time to watch! LavaLock 12 GREY High Performance BBQ gasket smoker seal SELF STICK www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9FE60K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KEBTQ3R2N20K8K1PX6KP
Hi Tim thanks for taking the time to watch. I have heard good things about the Gorilla Grilz but have frankly not kept up. Technology has come a long way over the past few years and I’d have to start from scratch with my research. All I can say is this product has been rock solid for me with zero issues. At the end of the day all pellet grills keep up with each other and as long as you have fun you can’t go wrong. As they say it’s not the pit it’s the pit master anyway. Get what you feel is the best value for your budget and don’t be afraid to spend a few hundred dollars more for the next level. Hope this helps. I love my 680 and have many friends who are happy with the Bull so I’d buy this brand again without hesitation.
I would like to get this B-grill, wants to buy it but when i do the math between the currency difference then I realise I'm too poor couldn't afford it 😭😭
Hey James don’t sweat it. Get a Weber Kettle. It can cook most anything you like and are often available used in good condition. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
You know I’ve never done the biscuit test where you spread them across the cooking area to see how even it cooks but haven’t noticed a hot spot. I’m sure they all have them though. Just get to know whatever cooker you get and you will know what to do. Great question man and kudos for doing your research. Drop me a note and let me know your experience.
I usually just get the Treager ones but any will do. I use them for months at a time. If they are too tall just cut them down. Thanks for taking the time to watch! I've had my GMG Daniel Boone for 6 years. Looking to upgrade. How's the smoke taste with Rec Tec? I've also had zero issues. Any issues? I also store our grill in the garage, out of the elements.
I had two Daniel Boones before this and they were great. I mostly wanted a bigger grill and this one just stood out during my research. It has an extreme smoke setting and does a GREAT smoke ring on my briskets. I think the biggest thing you’ll find with this is the extremely heavy duty steel, the ceramic igniter, and the PID. It is incredibly accurate and fuel efficient. I imagine they all are these days though lol. As long as you’re having fun it’s hard to go wrong! Thanks for taking the time to watch Tim.
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 no thank you! We love to grill and BBQ. We're looking to upgrade. Rec Tec says the 580 is about the same size. Or would you say the hell with it and buy the 700? Is the sear kit worth the extra money? Sure appreciate the help.
Well I think the Bull is about $1,100 now so if you can justify a few hundred more I’d go with that. The hopper is huge and you’ll never regret having the extra cooking space. I like my sear kit but find I use it mostly on my kettle for searing. It’s great on the Rec Tec though if you invert it and use it for burgers. Again it will last you a lifetime so if you grill a lot you will find it useful.
My 680 is great 5 years old well used not happy about powder coat pealing if you buy a 700 they are stainless they new there was a problem with powder coat just wouldn't do anything about it
Yea James I have the same thing. Not the end of the world but I have to touch it up every spring. Nothing is perfect so I guess I can live with it. Doesn’t appear to be rusting through so we’ll see. I can live with it if it doesn’t get worse. Thanks for taking the time to watch and the honest feedback.
Customer service sucks. I wanted to buy replacement parts. They wanted me to try a bunch of stuff first, which I did including buying $50 in tools. When that didn’t work I said I just wanted to buy replacement parts. Now they don’t respond to e-mails anymore. It worked good but customer service is bad.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I’ve been really happy with this cooker and brag to my wife every time I use it about what a good investment it was. Have a great weekend!
Yes it is. It’s the only negative thing I have to say about it but I guess it’s why the cost can be so low. Frankly I didn’t know that till after I bought it but I’d definitely get it again.
Nice, My Texas Traeger was rusting out within a few years. No stainless anywhere on it. Auger motor went out the first year, fan motor went out the first year or two, the whole unit started rusting within a few years, paint peeling, auger jammed a few times with high humidity. Won't ever buy another Traeger. I see a Rec Tec in my future.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I’ve run this thing through the paces for years and not one issue. I did get a small paint peel on the front due to cooking at too high a temp with the winter cover bu other than that perfect! Tough to beat for the money. Have a great weekend!

Question did you paint you lid or came like that???
@@nlpdodge It came painted like that.
Sorry for the late response. The 680 model came painted like that. They don’t make it anymore but I still see them from time to time on Craigslist.

Thanks Ryan I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Nice. I have the 1250 now and am happy. Man they sure have a lot of choices these days. Grill on!
Thanks for the review and your grill looks like new. You really take care of it.
Thanks for watching. It’s still running like new after all these years!
Great review! I had almost decided not to make the jump to a pellet grill until I watched your review. Thanks for you
honest opinion and good presentation.
Ahh well how a company handles an issue can mean a ton! I have heard Treager has a lot of issues with them as well.
Just saw this vid. Very good! Nice to see you take care of your cooking utensil...it is very clean!!!!!
Yea I just like to keep my tools clean. Thanks for watching!
Charlie Pickles!
Gregor Miller Gregor!
Thanks Charley. IMHO it’s the best bang for your buck out there.
@@PicklesBBQandCooking *smiles*🤗
My Rec Teq has hundreds of hours of cooking time logged. I have NEVER, I repeat NEVER had any performance issues with the grill in the six years I have owned the grill.
I would highly recommend this grill to anyone looking for the best pellet grill on the planet.
Yogi I couldn’t agree more. It’s been five for me now. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837, thank you for stopping by my channel also and watching.
Thing looks great, made in GA 🇺🇸 is awesome too. Looking at the flagship as the deck boss looks backordered/out of stock. Thanks
While it is true Rec Tec (now Rec Teq) is based in GA the manufacturing is performed via third-party Chinese manufacturers (albeit assembled in GA). You ain’t getting a USA made grill for anywhere around $1 ,0000.
Great video
I have the same unit with original controller. Best bang for the buck.
I do smoke at 200 to get more smoke..
Love it!
Wow no I haven’t. I also have a 1250 and no issues there either. Rec Tec cust service is world class. They will get you right.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and have a great weekend!
ordered a Recteq 1250 this week, cant wait
Sweet! Doing a review video on mine this weekend! Thanks for taking the time to watch Christopher. It is a badass cooker!
Great video, I have a Pit Boss pro 1100 that I bought 3 months ago but really am thinking about a Rec Tec😬
That’s awesome man. You know what matters is being in the back yard doing what you love. Brands are less important than than the food you cook. In my opinion this is the best bang for the buck but at the end of the day they all are similar. Keep on BBQ’ing brother.
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 just ordered the rec tec 700🥳🥳🥳🥳
Awesome! Welcome to the Rec Tec Mafia brother.
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 thank you family 🤟🏼
Good video sir, for a four year old grill,it’s very well cared for. Looks like new still
Hey thanks Pete. I am lucky to have a covered back porch but still try to keep it clean. I think it’s almost six now and looks and runs like new. I’m very happy with it. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Awesome video. Thanks so much. You helped me decide to purchase one!
Hey thanks Matthew! I m on year five now and not one issue.
Thanks for watching Mike. In my opinion there is no better quality on the market for the money. These things are legit!
GT’s Barbeque and Cuisine good to know ! Taking a look as we speak
That was a great review!! Q: Do you have to use RecTec Pellets? Thanks
Thanks Mark no I’ve never tried them. I usually use a brand called Lumberjack.
I wonder if you threw a lodge cast iron skillet in there on high if that would sear anything want?
I’m sure it would but usually use my Blackstone for that type of sear.
That is the cleanest 4 year old cooker I have ever seen!!
Good review im on it. Very disappointed with my yoder.
Hey thanks for watching. I’m glad I made the choice I did. I could get two of these for the price of the Yoder.
I love this I've never heard of a pellet grill before👌🏽This is a beautiful piece of machinery😊🙌🏽
100 % satisfied. I got mine 3 years ago bull 700
I wish they still sold that beautiful red color! I’m a sucker for red.
I agree George. It’s dang sexy lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
If you'd clean your ash it might not blow everywhere when you're cooking. You can see it blowing around when you start the grill.
Robert you are absolutely right. I keep it pretty clean but don’t vacuum it every time. I like these Lumberjack pellets but I notice they seem to have a bit more dust than some. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Great Video! Love your explanation about consistency in temps. That's so important and takes the guess work out of the equation.
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Yea these cookers are truly set it and forget it. I use this more than any cooker I have. Have a great week!
Great video. Thank you for taking your time and explaining! You DID say that was 4 YEARS OLD, right??? It looks brand new... Beautuiful!
Thanks! It’s easy to wipe down and stays nice. It’s over five now and still rocks it. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch! Have a great weekend!

How do you keep it looking so new?
Nate it’s pretty easy. I just wipe it down each time and vacuum it after every few cooks. Cleans up no problem. Plus I have a covered porch and keep the cover on it. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Nice Presentation, Impressive Pit
Thanks for taking the time to watch John. It still runs like new!
Awesome and thorough review Gary! That is one fine looking pellet grill for sure! Hope you're having an awesome day!

Nice grill. Have you had any rust issues?
No not really. I had a bit of paint peel on the front which I think was from cooking too high with my winter cover on. This thing still cooks like the day I got it. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Have a great weekend Erick!
Great review! Do you have a link to the wireless controller upgrade?
Thanks for taking the time to watch! You should be able to get the controller at Rex Tec’s website. www.shop.rectecgrills.com/
Thanks very much. Is it okay to leave it outside year round? I'm afraid it will harm the LCD screen.
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 thanks for the quick reply! Ok, I'm in TX and under a covered patio. Really appreciate your help.
hole saw on a drill u can punch a hole down low in the hopper (when empty) vacuum any shavings out get a small of stainless and rivot it on inside, if u do it right with a handle that sticks up above most the pellets just rotate it with bucket underneath & your good to go, not perfect but better than scooping for 30 mins.
Great idea. Thanks
Get the searing mod from rectec. You'll love it
Thanks I didn’t know they had one. I’ll check it out! I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 thank you
when you had your green mountain grill, how was the temperature variance compared to the rec tec?
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 were any of your GMG the newer prime models?
No Joe they weren’t. I’m sure a lot has changed. They made a hell of a good grill though even back then. If I were buying a new grill today I’d definitely consider one.
This grill is far bigger than the yoder ys640s ,plus even though they say 2500$, that's just the starting price and unless you live close to go pick up, you're paying over 3gs for it and yes it's better built but I'm not sure we need something built better than a recteq
Bryan that’s exactly what I thought! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Great video, Iv had the pit boss 456d for almost a year so far it’s been a great little grill but need a little more space, Iv researched many grills have found no one ever say anything negative about Rec tec, my only concern is I do a lota small cooks like 1 or ribeyes but would like to be able yo do two turkeys so I called up Rec tec and asked if the 590 would do it, they said if money is not an option to go with the 700 because it burns the same exact amount as the 590 (1lb an hour at 350)
Do you do small cooks on your?
Hi Rob thanks for taking the time to watch. Yes I do small cooks all the time but it’s really nice to have the extra space. I do big cooks as well and would definitely recommend the 700 for only a bit more. Let me know how it goes.

Lol I’ve had those for awhile. Thanks for watching!
How does Grilla Grill compare?

Any hot spots left to right?
You know I’ve never done the biscuit test where you spread them across the cooking area to see how even it cooks but haven’t noticed a hot spot. I’m sure they all have them though. Just get to know whatever cooker you get and you will know what to do. Great question man and kudos for doing your research. Drop me a note and let me know your experience.

Hi Gerald it came that color. This is the 680 which was replaced by the 700 Bull. They were red and in my opinion look awesome.
@@gtsbarbecueandcuisine4837 Red + Bull = RedBull I agree

Lol nothing special. I just wipe it down every time and keep it covered. Thanks for watching.
Oh wow sorry to hear that. My experience has been top notch with them. Call the owner Ray Carnes. His number should have come with the grill.

Is this grill made in China?
