Those 3 players were head an shoulders above everyone else in the league. Any of the top 10 centres in the 80’s or 90s would have done what Wilt did in the 60s. Until the 70’s when players like Kareem started coming into the league, most of the centres in the NBA were lumbering hulks who could barely move and the rest of the league were a bunch of beer leaguers.
And Moses Malone. 3 times MVP, 1 time NBA champion. Hosts the absolute NBA record of offensive rebounds and with his ABA stats it would be much higher and literally nobody speaks about him.

Rik Smits can compete and keep up with 90's best centers except for Hakeem. There were moments where Smits out played, David Robinson, Zo and Ewing, Mutombo. If only he had a healthy toe...Smits could've been more consistent
Smits and Daughterty are two of the forgotten bigs from that era, but Mourning was sensational, too. To me, the second half of the 1980s to the first half of the 1990s was the golden age of the NBA big. Just talented big dudes everywhere.

There are few good big guys in the league today, and most of them that are great play too much on the perimeter or from the three-point line. Guys today don't take advantage of their size. In today's game, Jokic is the only guy in my opinion that plays like a 90's big. Here is my top 5 centers and a few of honorable mentions. Top 5: Shaq, Wilt, Russell, Hakeem, Duncan. Honorable mention: Patrick Ewing, David Robinson I'm sure I am missing someone. But there were so many quality bigs and post players in the 80's and 90's. The strategy and post play made for interesting competitive basketball.
Someone needs to do a synopsis on how well a player like Joker (skill set) would have done in the 90s. Because had Sabonis not been delayed by Politics and did transfer to the NBA in his prime, he would have been exactly that but with a little more explosiveness and grit. There is a potential for Sabonis to be g.o.a.t. status (amongst centers) if he had an earlier transition. He definitely would have changed the game or force progressed it.

Also one of the most telling things I see when literally anyone ranks all time greats in anything is that the fact of whether they got a championship or not totally skews how they are ranked. This logic applies to all athletes except for King James who seemingly anoints himself as the GOAT when it is truly up to the fans and journalists to decide such things.
